Post your setup.py into support thread, I will check it tomorrow.
@TECK Thanks for your concern.
I tried to redo OC Plistlib Generator. I then successfully booted my Mac with OC0.7.9. Apparently I made a mistake the first time I edited it's setup.py. OC Plistlib Generator generated the only config.plist I could boot my Mac with OC 0.7.9. I would like to build my OC around this config.plist from now on.

You haven't tried the right ones, then. Google Realtek_High_Definition_Audio_64bit_Win7_Win8_Win81_Win10_R279.exe

Remove the audio devices, run the installer, reboot. Also, this actually off-topic, your issue belongs here.
Thanks for your reply. But, as I wrote, I tried many of Realtek drivers, and that one you proposed is on top of that useless pile :( I think it's not problem with Realtek, I tried to use external USB sound cards, monitor speakers via Display Port and HDMI, Bluetooth headphones, receivers and amplituners, USB and classic microphones, web cameras - everything is muted. But Windows shows not a single error and "everything is ok".
Thanks once again, I'll try the place you pointed.

Absolutely everything work ok, except I have no sound on any device in Windows
No issues with Dell U4320Q monitor internal speakers connected through Monoprice 8K Certified Ultra High Speed HDMI cable into RX580 GPU in both macOS Monterey and Windows 10. I also have a Scarlett 18i20 interface connected to Yamaha HS5 studio speakers and my CMP with a 10feet USB-C cable. Everything works properly.

Is that a webcam over the two displays?
That's a mount I built for my DSLR camera, so I can do video conferences for work or film the desk when I make music or mix. Parts:
  • Wali M001WX-W monitor arm (modified to mount a DSLR camera)
  • Artcise NB36 camera mount (attached with a 3/8-16 1-1/2" button head bolt to Wali arm)
I removed one extension piece of the Wali horisontal arm to keep everything stable, the NB36 mount allows you to tilt the camera down to 90 degrees. To fit the button head bolt through, you use a drillbit to enlarge a little the plastic cap, it is very easy. The hole design supports 20kg, very stable.

As a side note, it took me 3 months to build that table. One month was only to apply 12 coats of oil based polyurethane (one per day), let it cure for 2 weeks, then polish the wood top up to 3500 grit, to make it look like glass.

what is the current status of 12.3? Working ok?

I tried it and failed, have had to spent a lot of time restoring 12.2 honestly. My 5,1 is working again with 12.2, so that's the good news, but now I can't update to 12.2.1, so there is that...and then anyway I should just figure out if its safe to try 12.3 again, not sure what I did wrong the first time, but it was severely broken when I did.

So what is best procedure from here? I think I have this:

  1. Update OC from 0.7.8 to 0.7.9, make sure working properly. Include ASPP-Override.kext
  2. refresh BootROM
  3. Boot with VMM
  4. run Apple Update
  5. reboot however many times it needs to, using VMM every time
  6. refresh BootROM again
Any other comments?

Thanks! I might do something like this myself.

Looks great!

You need the ASPP-Override kext. See Complete your setup in post #1.

Thanks. yes I did try to use that the first time I attempted 12.3 based on your guide. I upgraded to OC 079 and also used the override kext. However, something was pretty jacked up, was getting black screens and stuff...initially I had a typo in the config.plist that I later found, so I don't know if the actual updater during several reboots somehow created a half baked update or what happened, I don't know, but it was not useable.

I'm not sure if I was using VMM when I ran the updater also, probably not. It was a week ago and I forgot now exactly what I did in that regard.

This is what I did: I first upgraded to OC 0.7.9 on Monterey 12.2.1. Next, I added the ASPP-Override kext and upgraded to 12.3 without any issues. That was the only change I made to my config.plist which is identical to first post one. I generate my EFI with the Plistlib Generator tool.

I feel like my BootROM might have been fried on the first attempt. Even booting without OC into Mojave is coming up with a black screen error about can't boot...but only sometimes, then boot again it works.

I just tried to reflash with Alex's never-booted-image, but after doing that, the UEFITool still shows nothing, no tree to inspect it or anything...I don't know...it all looks weird now...

you need to dump the rom again and open the dumped rom file with uefi tool.

or use my dumper, it dumps and inspects the firmware in one run.

On a Mac Pro 4,1 attempting to bless the boot drive with
Code:
--mount /Volumes/EFI --setBoot --file /Volumes/EFI/EFI/BOOT/BOOTx64.efi

I either get "Could not set boot device property: 0xe00002bc" or can't statfs...

SIP is disabled.

Any help appreciated.

Alright I was able to re-flash my bootRoom with my never-booted image...and using UEFI tool, it looks normal for my 96GB configuration:

Screen Shot 2022-03-23 at 4.02.44 PM.png

However, both before and after doing that, I am getting the following kind of thing from time to time. Before re-flashing it even happened once when I tried to boot to Mojave without OC.

IMG_1260.jpg

When I first updated OC to 079, including the ASPP-Override.kext, it seemed to work fine. When I attempted to turn on VMM mode, I immediately get this when trying to boot Monterey (12.2). I tried several times to boot and after even turning off VMM, it still gave me this message, but then sometimes would boot after that anyway... I don't know what all is causing this. It all started since I updated OC79 and then previously attempted 12.3 update.

Anyone have any ideas? I have attached my current config.plist (one with and one without VMM)

@cdf, do you know how I can verify that ASPP-Override.kext is actually getting loaded before I attempt to update MacOS?

"can't statfs" indicates that you have not mounted the right EFI or have a misspelling in your path.
Try ls -1 /Volumes/EFI/EFI/BOOT/BOOTx64.efi to confirm that the path is right.
