I adjusted preference files in the user library folder where I'm having problems and now macOS 12.4 runs stable. I have not been able to pinpoint which specific file is the culprit, but it appears that the problematic file is in a configuration file that begins with "com.apple". I have restored the configuration files that are obvious applications like Music, FaceTime, iMessage, Finder, and Dock. I have not reproduced the problem restoring them. I think there is probably a problem with the configuration file regarding the account.
Incidentally, PRAM reset, SMC reset, and disk repair with Disk Utility did not solve anything. I manually reworked every setting before deleting preference files, but still could not fix the problem.
I have been following your problem; I happen to have the same problem exactly. Did you find any other solution yet? much appreciate your time.

Maybe you have ExposeSensitiveData=0. Note that unless the second bit of ExposeSensitiveData is set, it's normal to see UNK-000-0000-00-00 for the version.

Depending on which OC version you updated from, you may need to update the OpenCanopy files.
Correct on both - thanks! I must have been brain dead at the time. Once you mentioned it, I realized I had not copied the OpenCanopy files.

Hello All; this is my first post on this forum. I hope you guys/gals can help.

So, I've been trying to get MacOS Monterey to install to my Mac Pro, 5.1 for about a week. (Smh) I finally got it installed but the installation did very weird things along the way; AND, Bluetooth doesn't work. I'll try to describe without boring you. So, I've been attempting my installations by using OC 0.8.1

Here is the process:

Download OC 0.8.1
Unzip OC 0.8.1 download;
Open Clover Configurator 5.22.0 (5146)
Mount EFI Partition
Apply EFI Package from OC 0.8.1
Reboot to recovery (holding down Command + R)
Open Terminal
Go through series of Terminal Commands. (diskutil list, mount --dev/disk... you know the rest... BLESS the EFI
HIT ENTER
Restart

*Here's where it starts getting weird*
When I log back in, I confirm that the updates are ready to install. Oh yeah, I also edit the config.plist because it doesn't show there's an update right away. I have to make the edit and then restart again. Once back in the update is there. (Monterey). When I launch the installer, it goes through it's initial phase for installation. Once complete, it boots to the Apple logo and goes through its secondary process (Apple Logo, progress bar, NO percentage indicator ). The progress bar would reach about a quarter(¹/⁴) of the way and displays the (Support.apple.com/mac/startup with the grey
🚫
symbol.) I'd power cycle and it would go through the install with the Apple Logo, progress bar, WITH percentage indicator.

*More weirdness - while sitting through the install progress, the installation reboots once it reaches a certain point. However, when it reboots to the Apple Logo with progress meter, the percentage doesn't show back up and it only gets to a quarter(¹/⁴) of the way and displays the (Support.apple.com/mac/startup with the grey
🚫
symbol.) This would happen several times during the install process; well at least 2 to 3 times and finally on the last power cycle it shows the boot screen for Monterey (Hello!)

Once I've completed all the setup info, I'm on the desktop and things look great. However, there's no Bluetooth!
ALSO, whenever I (RESTART) it gives me the Boot options; I select what I want/or it automatically boots to whats selected, a progress bar and Apple logo appears; progress gets to about ¼ again and then hits me with the support message again. I power cycle and it boots normally.

So my question to the community:
*What hell is happening?
*Why won't audio from my "audio interface" give me sound? It connects via firewire flawlessly after installing drivers, but no sound. If i select the internal speakers, I get sound, but when I select my Saffire Liquid 56, it produces no audio but is connected and recognized by the cMP.
*Why does the reboot/restart cycle behave as described above?
*Why is there no Bluetooth? Is there some (kext file) that needs to be added or something...?
*Why won't the install run all the way through without me having to restart my computer?

Finally, I'm not an expert but willing to learn and am savvy in most scenarios. Willing to take the advice of the community so I can enjoy the fruits of Monterey and beyond. Look forward to everyone's insight.

Hello guys i have installed OC via #MartinLo and was able to install BigSur with a Radeon RX570;
Now i have BigSur on NVME and HighSierra on SSD; however, would like to install older Mac OS X, and when i boot up my trusted Mavericks USB Installer for 10.9.1 it says somewhat like "this OS is not installable on this system" ,

so my question is:

1. do i need to swap the RX 570 with a legacy Graphics Card to be able to install Mavericks or SL?
2. do i need to tinker with the configuration of OC? is it precluded by default to install older OS?

Would be nice to be able to use the RX 570 allpurpose, since my legacy card is a GT120 or Gt640 and i doubt those cards could be simultaneously in the system with the RX570 without problems sooner or later.

Thanks for the effort, it took some time, but it seems quite an impressive feat that been achieved.

EDIT: possibly it would be most easy to install Mavericks or SL via Target Disk Mode through an older Mac, but first i'd like to install it directly on the MacPro via OC.

as you spoof a new Mac it is no compatible no more with older systems.

you can bypass this by adding -no_compat_check to the boot-args in OC.

or with a key combination explained here:

More than likely somewhere in this beast of a thread, someone has had a similar experience, but searching the thread, I can't seem to find anything that addresses it except an NVRAM reset which doesn't seem to help.

First off, my setup:
Mac Pro 5,1.
32 Gigs Ram
1TB WD Black SSD on a OWC NVME card
Saphire Radeon RX580 (not flashed)
Sonnet USB-C card

I was able to install OC pretty much without issue and everything worked. However, the stock BT just wasn't cutting it to I ordered a TP-Link BT4.0 Dongle. That wasn't working at first because at startup I was always loading the stock BT. I then read on here that disconnecting the stock BT fixes that. It did! Success! I was able to connect my MX Keys and MX Mouse.

However.... anytime the MP goes to sleep, the keyboard and mouse don't reconnect when it's woken up. I then have to use a USB Keyboard and Mouse to log back in. This is where it gets extra weird...

Sometimes, waking the MP up is no problem with the wired K & M, and then I can manually go to BT settings and connect to the MX Mouse & Keyboard, but usually only ONE will connect. It tends to be whichever I try to connect first. Then the second device no longer connects. Sometimes though, NEITHER device will connect and I have to remove and re-pair them. OK, not the biggest deal, but it's kind of annoying...

But now... when waking up the MP, all of the USB ports no longer have power. Not even the wired K&M will work. I have to do a hard reboot.

And here's where it gets worse. Now I've rebooted several times. The MP is recognizing the BT dongle, BT is running, but I'm unable to connect or pair either of the MX K&M. I am able to pair an Apple Magic Mouse, though.

I'm including screenshots of what might be relevant. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Boomer

Oh, one other thing.... I ordered a Titan Ridge 2.0 card and it will be here on Monday. Any tips on how to get this working? Will I still need to flash it for Mac or does OC eliminate the need for that? Is there a way to connect it to the GPU so that the DP and MDP ports all work?

Thanks in advance (again)!

hello, thanks, ok hold down "CMD+C+Minus" when selecting BootDevice, but i still get "Mac OS X cant be installed on this computer" (had to press down the right CMD/AppleKey since the left one is not functional on an older G3/era AppleKeyboard)

after a restart the Keycombination would no longer be accepted at OC Startscreen/BootPicker, one needs to shutdown first.

Yes, as indicated above you need to flash it and you also need to solder two pins together. In addition, and I discovered this not long ago thanks to @cdf, you also need to get rid of a tiny (almost microscopic) resistor, or you Mac will never go to sleep; it'll try to alright, but it's going to be a recalcitrant insomniac. So, make sure you get rid of the resistor. See https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/testing-tb3-aic-with-mp-5-1.2143042/post-29583466

checked on the config.plist, and there is the following entry already?

Code:
<key>boot-args</key>
                <string>-lilubetaall -wegbeta agdpmod=pikera enable-gva-support shikigva=80 unfairgva=1 mbasd=1 -wegtree -no_compat_check no32exec=0</string>

EDIT: it would install and boot when via Target Disk Mode, eg. from a MacMini3,1 to a HDD on the MP5,1, but the RX570 would show up only as with 5 MB Graphics Memory (no acceleration). Is it possible to get Graphics Accelleration with newer Graphics Card like Polaris based on older Mac OS System or would i need to install a second graphic card for this. like Radeon HD 6870? (System Profiler says "no kext loaded"

@PeterHolbrook whats the deal with the SerialNumber? is it "delicate" to show in public? thanks.
When i choose to hide my serial number, it is because a person setting up a Hackintosh can use it and maybe make problems for me. The rumor is that you might be locked out of Messages and iCloud. I believe it is not a problem because all my macs are already registered with Apple connected to me, but better safe than sorry…

have another problem , maybe someone might know how to solve>

have initiated a Windows 7 Bootcamp installation from DVD, which went through first phase, but after first reboot, im into OpenCore, and it does not see Windows partition just jet<

have removed all harddisk besides the HDD with partition for Windows (split with SnowLeopard).
OpenCore maybe installed on the NVME, do i need to remove it first? or how can the OpenCore be "updated" on the Go? a bit little like ReFit partition tool could do? thanks!

OpenCore does not see Legacy Windows. You need to use something like MyBootMGR to start it from RefindPlus.

This is probably a pretty dumb question that I'm pretty sure I already know the answer to, but hey, there are no dumb questions, right?? LOL

I have obviously already updated the boot rom on my Mac Pro 5,1 and installed opencore. Is it at all possible to run a Pre-Mojave OS on the machine anymore? Say like Yosemite for example?

Bypass OpenCore by holding option key at boot (if you have a GPU with Mac bootscreen). Otherwise, use RefindPlus to bypass OpenCore, perhaps using MyBootMgr (search the forums).
