[Merged] iPad 3G Ship Rumors

No saturday delivery

I spoke to an apple customer service rep today to ask if I could change my shipping address if a saturday ship date was likely. She responded by saying a saturday shipping date was NOT likely.

We're not saying that they aren't ready to begin shipping them, but they haven't yet. They CAN charge you BEFORE they ship, just like they've done with every other product they've released. All we're saying is, there is no indication that you'll have it by Wednesday.

All you need to do is look at the WiFi launch. Cards were charged on Monday, and the iPads were delivered on Saturday. There is no possible way that the iPads are going to make the journey to the United States in 24 hours, and magically arrive on your doorstep by Wednesday. It's not going to happen.

And the topic title is very misleading.

Charged today! Citicard. Doesn't show up online yet but the CSR just confirmed it was posted today.

so let's look on the bright side?! Does that mean Friday shipments then?!:D
 
I have a iPad 3G and Camera Connector Kit on order. I just checked Apple.com for status, and the camera kit says "Prepared for Shipment". They had both said "Late April" since I placed my order. (ordered the iPad first, then added the camera kit when it became available). I am hoping that this means some movement finally! edited to add: I received my iPad case last week that I had ordered at the same time as my iPad.
 
IPAD 3G Ships

I got a shipment notice from Apple below but it says late April also, but it's a step closer than I was. I ordered my Ipad 3G on 3/12

I just went through some mild pain getting my order authorized, but it's finally done. Took about 40 minutes on the phone with the Apple folks, but they were very friendly and helpful.

One interesting tidbit I wanted to post was that these are shipping from domestic warehouses (not directly from China like the Wifis did), and they're set for Next Business Day delivery. So if they do in fact ship on Weds like we're hoping, we should see them on Thursday!!

Using the timeline of the WiFi release when our cards were charged on a Thursday, first prepared for shipment statuses showed up on Saturday and first shipping notices went out on Monday for Saturday delivery I think you are all looking at a Tuesday delivery date. Those of you charged should get your prepared for shipment status change by Wednesday and shipping notices on Thursday with your iPads delivered next Tuesday.

It is so exciting tracking them coming from China, enjoy this next week!

Awesome if true. My payment is showing to go through on Wednesday, so it makes sense.

That's exciting, but I'd take it with a grain of salt. Apple is famously tight-lipped when it comes to product announcement information. I'd be surprised to hear that call center reps (and I mean NO offense here, but corporate-wise they're at the bottom of the food chain) had useful information available before Apple made any official announcements.

The genius bar folks are consistent in their "they tell us nothing" approach.

It may very well be that since most of their normal shipments don't deliver on Saturday, she replied in kind.

NOW, that doesn't mean she's wrong, but I would be cautious in taking that as some official insight as to when we might actually see our devices.

I got charged mid-afternoon today with my Visa credit card. I ordered a 16GB 3G on March 28.

Hey Vicky, did you see the post just above yours (sometimes while I am writing a response another one slips in) do you still think apple will stay on the wi-fi delivery type schedule or do you think they might get them to us sooner? Just wondering if you saw that one. :)

I didn't see that post until after I posted mine, we must have been posting at the same time, but I tend to agree with the others here that the customer service reps don't really know anything and I would take what they say with a grain of salt. Every new release product I've pre-ordered from Apple shipped from China, not domestic warehouses.

Thanks for the insight. I figured you did not see it. I am a recent convert to Mac - the iphone a year ago and the imac in feb. So I do not have much experience with the new product releases. I agree with the other posts (reading lots of pther mac posts) but it is great to get some hope. Thanks.:D
 
Just got off the phone with Apple after inquiring about changing my shipping address in the event of a Saturday delivery. I was told the date will be announced prior to shipment. And in the even that does not happen, I could still call and change my address once it is in transit. I tried to get more out of him and all he said was to keep a look out for an email with the date. I am not preparing to see it by the end of this week. Setting my hopes low so maybe I can be surprised.

Why domestic warehouses? 3G mini sim card have anything to do with that you think?

Know of folks here in memphis who have charges showing up on their credit cardss today.
