It became available four days ago.
I know there was a video demo. You could be right but isnt it only available for a mac? No PC version out yet?
Jailbreaking -- is there an app I need to download from Cydia?
I just wondered if there was a certain app I needed to dowload from Cydia that would allow my data connection to work....? Also could you email me when that yellowsnow software becomes available for pc users?

hey guys, i'm a tmobile user and i decided to get a 8gb 2g.
got it off craigslist and it was perfect, but what i didn't know was that it hasn't been activated yet =[
i don't know what to do with it now, nor do i know the firmware version.
i know if it was an earlier firmware, i could use ziphone without a problem.
i read on http://iphone.unlock.no/ that they have a program to unlock, jailbreak, and activate the iphone but i think that program is only for mac.
can someone help me? maybe send some tutorials or what programs i can download so i can at least use this 300 dollar phone i paid for?

Has anyone attempted to download the latest version of yellowsn0w on their iPhone? Anyone know of any problems or concerns to watch out for. I want to unlock my phone, I believe that this is the key to getting my data network back. When I attempt to unlock my phone should I take my TurboSIM out first?

I bought my friends iphone 3g because he left att. Here is my problem. They deactivated it. Is there a way I can activate it? I need to be able to activate it so I can jailbreak it and download yellowsn0w and use it with tmobile? Will I have to use the same process as unlocking a 2g iphone? Create custom firmware and restore with winpwn/pwnage tool? Or can I just use quickpwn to add jailbreak data, will this activate it?

you have to use quickpwn (which will activate it), then once it's jailbroken go here and add the repo source in cydia that is says on the blog. Then download cydia and reboot your phone. It will be unlocked instantly after the reboot.

So I take it that once I put it in DFU mode it will do its thing? I was afraid that I would have to do a restore with an att sim in the phone so it would think its being activated or something. Thanks for the help!

Although i did find the speed to be REALLY slow compared to when i connected to a WIFI. Whats up with that?
I have a 3G but i cant make use of the 3G speed lol. It sucks. Any way around this?

HAHA Why would you NOT use tmobile?! I'd much rather pay almost a third of what at&t charges and have slow internet than to pay 3 times as much as tmobile for less than what you would get with tmobile (as in minutes and texting). Lol.
Thats just my two cents worth. And coming from the old iphone to the new iphone and only ever having used edge, (and wifi) I don't mind too much. I just like paying 6 bucks a month so when my friends and I are in an argument, I can prove them wrong. Thats horrible isn't it? lol

I have the first gen iPhone. Went from a 4 GB to a 16GB ans stayed w/ the first gen because i kept reading too many problems with the 3G with crashes and you couldnt unlock it. The only difference anyways is the color of the backs of the phones and the 3G has GPS ,..... but i have a GPS already and im not using the 3G network so i didnt care. I have the $6 dollar internet as well and it is fine for what i need.
Yeah, i have had T-Mobile for about 5 years and even if i couldnt unlock it i wouldnt switch to AT&T just so i could have an iPhone .
I just bought a first gen iphone I am gonna have to use it on tmobile when I unlock and activate it does it matter when I put the t mobile sim card in or do I need to unlock it then put the sim card in? when i go to tmobiles webpage should I pick a blackberry phone as my phone and use a blackberry internet and messaging plan or pick that g1 as my phone and use that plan or does it matter? I wont really talk on it much i will just use it for texting and internet basically?
Leave the card out and after you unlock it, put it in and it will read it. If you put it in before you unlock it , it will say invalid sim card.
As for the plan, it dont matter which one you choose. The ceapest will work but it has data restrictions of 50MB per month so you may want to go higher if you are texting a lot and using the internet.

I tried the apple store but they will NOT sell one without a at&t contract attached to it. I even tried saying it was a gift. If anyone could give me a clue as to where to purchase one to unlock that would be very very cool. Thanks for the help this site is awesome!

Thanks for the help this site is awesome!I unlocked/jailbroke my 1st gen iphone last night and put the t mobile sim card in and I can send texts and receive texts and make and receive calls but if i try to receive emails or go on the internet it says I dont have a data plan subscription but I have the blackberry data plan do I need to restore and redo everything or is there a setting somewhere I need to change to make the data plan work?
in settings change the apn to epc.tmobile.com and leave the user name/password blank and, viola. It works.
Just wanted to clarify this in case anyone is confused -- data and texting are completely unrelated. Texting doesn't require the use of any data from your "mobile data" allowance, and using data to do things like browse, e-mail, or send/receive IMs doesn't use up any SMS credits (unless you're using a carrier-provided application that explicitly states it does that.)
