For those of you asking about what to regarding a SIM card: I just took my phone in to a T mobile kiosk and for activating a new plan (even non-contract ,month by month plan) they just gave me a free sim.

And, I've seen sims on the tmobile web site for 5.99 before on sale.

So: Do NOT get a new phone just for the sim! Horrible idea! And unnecessary.

But: I just did this a month ago and am going to call and add internet to my plan...Sad to hear the 5.99 t-zones is gone! I must've just missed it.

You can get a free phone if yoour a new customer. Even if you want to use youor iPhone, whats wrong with getting a free one too? If you just really dont want it, just sell it on ebay and make money on it.

I was just making the point that you don't HAVE TO get a new phone. I didn't because I didn't want a contract.

And now I'm disappointed that the reason I went to Tmobile - 5.99 internet plan - has evidently disappeared before I turned it on! :(

$25 Internet still better than at&t :D

True; but $25 is a lot worse than $6. And given the fact that the actual cost of the data they transmit to /from the phone is pennies per MB...

Nevertheless, I accept the situation. Were I in a position to profit handsomely from consumers almost powerless to change my unnecessarily high pricing...it would be hard not to.

And my view of Tmobile as at least the most consumer friendly provider is now changing.

Keep in mind that the $6 plan was never intended to be used like this from the start. It was intended for WAP sites.

Because then you'd be tied down into a contract.

I have a question about my purchase of a first generation iPhone. I'm on T-Mobile right now and I have unlimited text and I'm looking to buy an internet plan. I just want to be able to buy the least amount because I wouldn't like to pay $25 a month for the internet. I remember hearing about the $5.99 T-Zones hack but since there isn't anything available for that price anymore I've sort of singled that out. Is there anything cheaper than the $24.99 plan that I was offered when calling the T-Mobile customer support? Any hacks?

Thanks in advance for the help :).

This is a known problem... It happened to mine yesterday.

You need to go into settings and then general, and click on NETWORK, then CELL DATA NETWORK, and add:

internet2.voicestream.com

no username or password... it saves you needing to reinsert sim cards.

They told me its a temporary problem and should be fixed any day now...

He also said it is only effecting the East coast at the moment.

(My phone isnt a "hacked" phone so I dunno if that makes any difference)

So I can swap my SIM card into a jailbroken iphone and use a T-Mobile package with no data package (Just talk minutes)?

Once you have it unlocked.

you HAVE to call T-Mobile to get them to assign the data network to your phone as they are phone specific, so if you had a Blackberry it will configured for the blackberry at T-Mobile.

Call customer service and tell them you have changed phones to an iPhone and they will reconfigure their settings.

once you have done that you are all set.

I currently have the $19.99 blackberry internet plan and I am going to be possibly buying a 2g 8GB. I should be good to go with putting internet2.voicestream.com right? I dont remember if I had changed it previously. I don't want to change to the new data plan.
My current plan is

Tmo MyFavs - 600
Promo Unlimited Texts 9.99
Blackberry Data $19.99.

Think i'll be oK?

ok, ive been searching around the net for 3 days now trying to find info to the question i'm about to ask. Ive had mixed results on it works, and doesnt work so want to know if anyone has a more detailed answer.

I purchased 3 phones for my sisters, since they have t-mobile. I thought they had a normal contract, but they have a Flexpay-Myfaves account. Does the myfaves on a flexpay account actually work on the iphone? Proper billing?

1st guys question:

You will have to call customer service to change your device. You can try not to, but 99% sure it won't work.
They shouldn't need to change your plan. As a new phone shouldn't effect that.

2nd qustion. Yes you can use flexpay. I had it and then Changed to a contract. You can avoid the $4 service charge by paying In advance to.

Sorry, should have asked more clearly.

I understand t-mobile flex pay works with the iphone. I'm currently wondering if My Favs (while on flexpay) work properly while using iphone.

it was working for me. I had to set up my faves through the website. But if they have them set already they should be ready to go.

The way it was all explained when I signed up is you can get any t mobile plan on flex pay. This was only a few months ago.

Prepaid SIM card in 3G jailbroken iPhone (w/ 2.2)

I just left an AT&T dealer, the third one I have been to. The previous two I had been to told me that I could buy a prepaid plan and SIM card and insert it into my jailbroken iPhone with no problem. This third guy I went to told me that the latest update will not allow a prepaid SIM card to be used on the 3G iPhone. I was ready to believe him until he started pushing me to sign a 2-year contract on an AT&T plan. Which made me think he was just being a salesman, and telling me what I needed to hear to convince me to sign a contract. So my question is, does anyone know FOR A FACT that a prepaid SIM card (with AT&T) will work on a 3G iPhone that has been jailbroken on the latest 2.2 update?

I used quickpwn on the iphone.... ran normally, unlocked the iphone just fine.

Now it is asking for a Sim unlock code......any help?

Its a t-mobile flex account, off a Nokia 1208

Sounds like you're talking about a SIM PIN. If that's the case, then you'll need to enter whatever SIM PIN was set -- that's got nothing to do with unlocking though.

Well you are in a T Mobile thread so the people here are using hacked phones or unlocked phones anyway so prepay will be fine.

You could always try it and if it doesn't work on AT&T you can to sign up for two years. Or go to prepay at T Mobile ( no 3G though )

So once I call tmo customer service, add the data plan, it's all good to go? Do I need to configure any settings on the phone on my end? How long does it take for it to take effect? Also, I already have the 'E' icon showing before I called tmo (but it doesn't connect). How do I confirm if I'm really using the 'E' network? thanks!
