Family plan, $5.99 internet.

Approach? Uh, walked in and got the plan with two phones and now have 4 plus the home service. Been w/them about 5 years.
I dont get why your asking how we got our plan? Have you ever had a cell phone service before? What situation are you refering to?

I'm on t-mo.
I have a 2g arriving tomorrow. I went to t-mo yesterday to see what plans are available.

Lotsa choices.
50mb internet and 200 texts 9.99
100mb and 400 19.99
unlimited text and internet 34.99
unlimited internet only 19.99

That's not a question but just looking for advice.

Have you ever had a cell phone service before?
Original iPhone and an iPhone 3G

What situation are you refering to?
Situation of having an iPhone connected with T-Mobile.

Thanks everyone, I didn't know what T-Mobile's plans were, if they had something specific to iPhones/Smartphones. Once again, thanks!

There's no iPhone specific plan on tmo... Just get any plan that u like and insert sim ( assuming ur iPhone is unlocked) . For Internet on edge, get the 5.99 plan

I have just signed up to T-Mo with my New Zealand iPhone 3G and it all seems to be working just fine.

I got my wife the G1 just so we can have both :) And I have to say they both have their "pros and cons" and equally as good.

I have the $25 data plan (400 texts - unlimited data) all on the family faves.

it would appear I may not be able to use faves on the iphone though???

and I have alos read around th eplace that the 3G wont work either??? I am currently in an area that doesnt offer 3G so wont know until I return back to Boston next week.

In total we pay $107 plus tax for our family faves 400 with both having the data plan listed above.

T-Mo have been great so far.... We were with Verizon before and even though they were good too, and never had any problems, they seemed kinda "old fashioned"

Oh, and it wont let me edit my post??? so...

I didnt need to jailbreak my iPhone, I paid out of my contract with Vodaphone NZ, so it was unlocked.

$107 seems alot?? yeh? no? Its less than what we were paying for Verizon without any data or anything... seems crazy.

I have iPhone 3G using unlocked sim
with t-mobile individual plan $39.99 (600 min unlimited night and weekend) + t-zone $5.99

I'd actually be interested to know what prepaid data options are available from T-Mobile. Anyone got any experiences/info?

You can do prepaid version of all their plans...

You just pay in advance, plus a $4 service fee, which can be waived by having a credit card payment setup for auto payments.

I am going to look into the $5.99 data plan... I cant find any info on their website about it????

It's gone...
They changed their plan options a few weeks ago, and stopped offering that one for T-Zones.

I just went with the $34.99 unlimited texts and unlimited internet data plan.
You can do unlim internet for $19.99 with no texts, and add on texts separately.
500 - 5.99
1000 - 9.99
unlim text - 14.99

Or 50mb internet and 200 texts is 9.99.
100mb internet and 400 texts is 19.99

Lotsa ways to mix it up.

Joe

MyFaves family at $89
Unlimited Family text messaging at $9.99 (promo rate, still the same 3 years later)
Unlimited T-Mobile Web at $24.99
+ 2 addtl lines

Total is about $130 ish + taxes.

1000 family plan +1 line = 69.99+9.99
5.99 (T-Zone) internet for me. none for others
69.99+9.99+5.99 = 85.97+tax and stuff = 105 ish..
by the way, iPhone 2G works great w/ T-mo.

Wanting to Move to T Mobile

so, this is an old forum, hope someone looks at this. But, I am going to get an iphone and move from sprint to tmobile. I heard you have to take the cheapest phone to get the sim card. When I go online to set up the account (prepaid), none of the cheap phones are web browsing compatible and they don't offer you any of the web options. So, I don't want to pay 200 bucks for a phone just to get the sim. Do any of you T Mobile Iphone users have any ideas? thanks.

first time tmobile customer help

I am also going to use T Mobile for an unlocked 2G Iphone. I guess I am really wondering how I go about getting the phone set up as I am not currently with T Mobile and don't have one of their sim cards. Not the "go to the website and select your plan, etc." But whether you have to be sneaky about the whole thing? Are they okay with the iphone on their newtwork, or at least passive? I want to go in and just have them take care of it, but I don't know if that is accepted.

Also, I would rather not have to buy a phone just to get a sim card. I saw this option on amazon, but have no idea if this is reliable?

I am way excited to get my iphone up and running but am being real patient in researching the best way to do this. thanks in advance for any replies.

They do not mind the iPhone on their network at all, I can tell you that. When I activated my lines, I told them I had an iphone, and now whenever i call them in the future, they see I have an iphone on my account :). They even walked me through on how to get the settings into the phone, and had me up and running. Excellent customer service.

very cool. I was really skeptical as to how I was going to sidestep the whole thing. Thanks for the help there. Also, how do I get a sim, am I going to have to buy a Tmobile phone or do they sell those separatly? I've been with sprint since 1998, so I have never dealt with sim cards.

Not sure where you got your info because all t-mobile phones use sim cards, cheap or not. I would just get a cheap phone and put that sim in the iPhone. After you unlock it of course.

The normal route is to just get any T-Mobile phone, as mentioned, and then just move the SIM over, or else to call them, tell them you have a phone already, and then ask them to provide you an account without a phone (then, if they offer you an option for this you like, they mail you a SIM) -- it all depends on whether they're willing to give you a pass on a contract with this or not. If they're not willing to give you a pass on the contract, you might as well get some phone that can be unlocked and resell it on eBay.

Aside from the distinction between putting the SIM in the phone (GSM -- AT&T and T-Mobile) and getting the phone provisioned to the network and your account (CDMA -- Sprint and Verizon), there's no real difference. It's the same situation you'd be in if you were new to Sprint and wanted to get in without buying a phone, except for the one detail.

easier way...

For those of you asking about what to regarding a SIM card: I just took my phone in to a T mobile kiosk and for activating a new plan (even non-contract ,month by month plan) they just gave me a free sim.

And, I've seen sims on the tmobile web site for 5.99 before on sale.

So: Do NOT get a new phone just for the sim! Horrible idea! And unnecessary.

But: I just did this a month ago and am going to call and add internet to my plan...Sad to hear the 5.99 t-zones is gone! I must've just missed it.
