Again-
thanks for the info!
of course, more questions keep popping in my head...
when activesync is released in june by apple, do you anticipate any problem updating that featured to a t-mobile iPhone? hopefully it won't be a problem.
and earlier when you said, "simply restore to 1.1.4", is that something I need to manage from ziphone's website? I assume it's all there...
btw---I'm going on Friday to buy my iPhone and put this to the test!
thanks again!
ZiPhone seems to stay up-to-date on updates of the firmware and software. It won't be hacked until a few weeks or a couple of months after it's released though. So, iPhone 2.0 Firmware will be hacked, just not immediately.
This is something that everyone who has hacked their iPhones urge, don't update until the iPhone development community gives you the okay. The Development community is going to be people like the one who has created ZiPhone.
On the restore thing, it's handled through iTunes.
If during the patching of your iPhone, your iPhone breaks. You would have to restore it in iTunes.
If iTunes detects the iPhone, just press the restore button on the iPhone manager screen.
If iTunes doesn't detect your iPhone, you press the Home button and the Power button until the iPhone turns off, about 3-5 seconds after the screen goes blank, release the power button and keep holding the home button. That way your iPhone goes into recovery mode and you can then restore from iTunes. I guess it all depends on your situation.
Just the biggest mistake anyone can make is to update their iPhone before the community gives you the "okay". Apple loves to break your stuff if it's been hacked. Sounds horrible, but it's true.
