ok-

found the APN in this thread from an earlier post!

now everything works...

let me say, from a newbie standpoint, this really was a piece of cake.

thanks for everyone's help!

Sorry for asking this, but I'm still confused.

Let's say I get an unlocked iphone tomorrow. And I put in my prepaid t mobile sim card.

I can go on the internet as long as im using a wifi spot such as in my home.. right or wrong?

Now with my prepaid card what exactly do I have to do to be able to go on the internet at any location that I please? Can I purchase the cheap 6 dollar plan, or am I going to need the 20 dollar one? Thanks.

With the tmobile prepaid plan, you can't purchase either one. There is no option for data. You can access about 5 websites totally free (CNN mobile, ABCnews mobile, espn mobile & a couple of others), but that's it.

And yes, you can still use wifi such as in your home.

Thank you. What about the flex plan, if I use that THEN will I be set to do what I want (internet browsing, few calls here and there)? How much is that plan monthly? Just browsing the tmobile site it's still unclear on pricing and how it works. I do not want to pay more than 20 bucks a month, thats for sure. Can't I just buy like 1000 minutes straight up and be set for months, or do I have to stick to a plan costing 30 dollars a month (do not want)

I just want the cheapest possible way to get internet on the phone, and a few calls. I mean, I probably use no more than 100 minutes monthly...

Even though I can't see MyFaves on my iPhone, I still don't get charged for any of my MyFaves numbers. If you want to change them, you will have to go online and do it from the "Manage Your Account" section of my.t-mobile.com.

Sorry for any spelling errors here. My spell checker isn't working right now.

Sorry, my experience has been that you NEED to call T-mobil's customers service and do it over the phone...The website recognizes that you do not have a compatible my favs phone so it won't give you the option to change it on-line...If that doesn't work for you and you happen to have a compatible phone then switch over the sim card and if your within your month to change the numbers then do it then swap it back to the iPhone....

Maybe someone who has used flexpay can jump in, but I think their flexpay plans are priced as much as their monthly plans, just that there is no credit check and no long commitment. There's a pretty good thread on flexpay here.

As far as I know, the cheapest plan that will do what you're asking is a tmobile "individual basic" plan for $29.99 plus $5.99 for t-zone. With tax etc, the total per month will come out a little over $40.

Blackberry plan on iphone

I currently own a blackberry and im thinking of switching to the iphone, with my balckberry plan, i have access to edge and fast browsing on tmobile.
Do i have to switch my plan to the 19.99 total access plan with the iphone or leave it as it is? Please anyone help out. thnx

not sure if this has been mentioned in the last 7 pages but with at&t the voicemail can be viewed as text without having to call your mailbox. does this feature work with t-mobile as well?

how difficult is it to get the iphone to work on t mobile I am in a tmobile contract and I want an iphone? I wish it was available for tmobile

Aw, is that the truth? I was considering picking up an iPhone, but I don't make many calls. I just really don't like the phone I have right now, and wanted a Smartphone. The iPhone to me looked the most appealing, but if it means spending $40 a month, I could do without...

Just tell the website that you have a myfaves phone. Up in the top right there's a link that says, "not your phone? click here"

For the sake of clarity, if I purchase an 8 gigabyte iphone at the apple store tomorrow all I have to do is remove the att sim card and replace it with t mobiles? Secondly once I go to t mobile and prepare to set up service all prepaid service will work with the iphone? And lastly, for internet usage, I will have to sign up for unlimited texting which will give me access to all the iphones web features? So the minimal charge I will be paying monthly is about 40-50$? I ask this because there's alot of conflicting info about this subject and i've only had a chance to read about a page of this thread because I am rushing to work.

No. You have to run unlocking tools to unlock the phone first. I recommend Pwnage.

I don't know the prepaid services, but if you mean where you call up a number and load up minutes then yes

No, unlimited Texting is not for internet, it's for texting which is why it's called texting not internet. you'll need an unlimited internet plan which is either $5.99 or $19.99. The $5.99 one needs some hacks installed from Installer, and the $19.99 internet doesn't. You also get T-mobile Hotspots and unproxied internet with the 19.99 internet.

Maybe... you could skip the internet plan. I would and just use wifi :)

Are these tools free and failsafe? In other words can they potentially mess up the phones apps if not done correctly?

I specifically meant the kind of service that doesn't require a contract. I.E prepaid.

How reliable is wifi in some places? Can you get it on buses and trains? Or is it still in its infancy with the whole starbucks thing?

No they aren't failsafe. But there are videos online and tutorials on even this site. It's literally a couple of button clicks and you're done. Though you can permanently damage your iphone if you download iPod firmware and flash that instead of the iPhone firmware.

Yes. That'll work. As will any phone with a sim card that's unlocked.

Wifi is 802.11a/b/g/n

I was referring to just routers you buy and share your home internet. I hardly ever use the internet en commute (or see a need to). If you need internet - then I don't see why you can't get an internet plan off of prepaid. If your credit isn't good enough for that, then you should ask yourself if you need internet access everywhere. Sure it's convenient - but it's not needed.

Wifi is pretty robust. All Mcdonald's have them through the Nintendo deal. I've seen some KFCs with them. All Airports have it. Decent hotels have free wifi. If you can find a bus with a long enough coax or telephone cable to pipe the broadband into then it could have wifi ;)

Is this program free? If so, do you have any links? If it's not free, can you please suggest cheap unlocking software?

I'm also wondering if anyone knows what version of ijailbreak works with osx tiger.

Hello all, am new here. Iphone owner for a week now. I am not gonna throw any links but if you google iphone unlock software, it is not hard to find. I used ziphone, and had it unlocked, activated, and jail broken in under 4 minutes. I am by no means a computer guru, if you can read and click, you can do it.

P.s...... Do not pay for unlock software, you can get it free!

There is a whole sticky with many many pages in the iPhone hack section about this FREE and easy to use program.

And I don't mean to be rude or anything to anyone in this forum, but every single question being asked here have been answered a zillion times in these forums. And much of the information requested is posted and stickied right at the top of each forum.

I wish people would take the 2 extra seconds it takes to read rather then freaking out and assume that their question has never been answered before!

Want to get an iphone for tmobile but wondering if I should wait for the new one comming out. Does anyone know if the new iphone will be able to be used on Tmobile?
Thanks

We can guess that someone will find a way to do it, but we have no idea. Depends on how much Apple locks it down his time around. You'll have to wait and see.

Unlocking with correct app

I am purchasing my 8GB iphone tonight after work. I have T-Mobile service so I wanted to make sure I had all my ducks in a row. First I made sure that the phone was already unlocked which it is and that I had the proper services which I do. I also called a Cellular Link and spoke to a pro that unlocks them and applies 3rd party apps and everything else you could imagine. I told him about the phone and my current service. He said it shold be good to go and that if it was not working properly it could be that they used the incorrect unlocking process/app. I have to tell you I am sooooo very excited. i have beeen wanting one since they came out. I was very upset that it was exclusivly for AT&T only and refused to go to AT&T. I love T-Mobile way to much. So I am glad I waited it out!! I will inform you if I come accross any difficulties or need assistance. If anyone would like the number for the iPhone pro guy let me know and I can provide you with his contact information. he is extreemly helpful.

You Tube Not Working/ Cant add new e-mail from yahoo

Ok so i got my beautiful 8GB iphone last night and I am loving it. The only problems I ran into was unable to connect to you tube and it will not let me access my yahoo mail . So I am taking it to the guy I mentioned in my last post. I am sure it is due to an incorrect unlocking program that the guy I bought from used. I am way too anxious to use all the features in this amazing device. I can't wait until this iphone pro gets his hands on it. :D
