i have the flex plan with tmobile cause i can't get a contract.
i want to buy an unlocked iphone but before i do, i wanted to know if anyone else with the flex plan had an iphone? does anyone know if it's going to work? i just don't want to spend the money then it not work. i don't see why it wouldn't, but you just never know.

thanks everyone :)

I just installed the lates 2.0 version the itunes on my iphone aand I can not get it to work now, I can not doa receovery because the t mobil sim card is on my iphone and I throw away my old att sim card. what can I do to recover my phone?

Hahaha, what were you thinking?

Please tell me you didn't think you could update an unlocked iPhone through iTunes without bricking it?

Yes, my friend had a BB, and when I unlocked his iPhone, the data started working.

But, $20/month for the BB plan gets you data and pushmail, whereas $20/month for T-Mobile's Total Internet plan for Smartphones gets you data and access to all of T-Mobile's Hotspots (with the phone or your laptop, which includes Starbucks, Hotels, etc.), which is a much better deal.

so what you are saying is i will get a much better deal with the total internet plan? as far as the hotspots go, isnt that just the same as having wifi compatibility and switching from edge to wifi when you wanna go wireless. i dont understand the whole hotspot bit, isnt that free wireless you can connect to anyways regardless of hotspots or not, with your phone or laptop. please respond. thanx.

Possible New User!!

hi, i am currently with t-mobile and have an SK3 w/a 700 min fam plan + the $20 unlimited data plan.

my plan is up towards the middle of august and i was thinking about getting an iphone but having it unlocked to stay with t-mobile.

will i still be able to keep my 20 bucks a month data plan and keep my family plan?

Grammar works better when you use it. ;)

The T-Mobile hotspots feature is for non-free T-Mobile wifi access points. The most common ones are in Starbucks, although you can access the Starbucks ones in many other ways (the Starbucks account actually just went to AT&T, but by agreement, they continue to provide T-Mo access). T-Mobile hotspots are fairly common in hotels also. These hotspots are ones that you cannot connect to unless you either pay on a per use basis or have a subscription.

The Hotspot package has nothing to do with access to wifi hotspots that are not run by T-Mobile -- if you have access to them, free or otherwise, you can use them, and it doesn't matter if you have the T-Mo hotspot plan. But you can only use the T-Mobile hotspots if you pay or if you have the plan.

The Total Internet package is a better deal as long as you're sure you're done with your Blackberry. It's not hugely better, i.e. if you don't use the hotspots, then you don't benefit from them. But you at least have it if you run into one.

Please help

I just got an 8gb iPhone that I wanna use with Tmobile. I've tried unlocking it myself, but I fear I may be doing it wrong since I never see the "T-Mobile" in the top left corner. Can anyone give me an EASY tutorial to follow? Keep in mind, I have a PC and I'm quite dumb. Haha

And out of my fear of having a bricked iphone, can someone show me where I can learn how to unbrick if I need to?

seriously, unlocking is so easy that if you cant figure out how to do it from a google search, you should either pay someone else to do it or just dont do it at all:rolleyes:

try ziphone

No need to be insulting, I have myself for that.
...and I've heard some discouraging things about Ziphone?

Thing is, I've done the process w/ iLiberty+ already... and I thought I did everything correctly w/ the 1.1.4 firmware through itunes and following processes, but I seem to be getting little to no reception. Any thoughts?

EDIT: Nevermind! I got it working! YAY!

Unlocked 2G iphone on T-mobile; what plans do you guys recommend

Hi all,

I finally unlocked my 2G iphone and have some questions about getting it activated on T-mobile or AT&T (in the US).

I DO NOT want a 1 or 2 year contract, as i will be leaving the country in about 8 to 10 months, so i will likely try a flex plan. I definitely want a data plan, but can i get one on T-mobile for the iphone.

Can you guys share your T-mobile plans for unlocked iphones?

Thanks,
cez

I've never had tmobile so I don't know what voice plans they offer but for data you could jailbreak and use the $5.99 tzones hack.

2G iphone on TMOBILE issues...

I have used Pwnage 2.0.1 to successfully install 2.0 software on a 2G iphone. Apps work fine but I can't make calls or get on Internet without wifi. I have the T-Mobile logo and full bars of coverage. There is a red dot on the phone icon at the home screen and a red dot and the voicemail icon. I'm unable to make calls... Any thoughts?? Thanks all.

I have the $5.99 Tzones plan and got Edge working. I removed the Sidekick Plan I previously had. I knew w/this plan You Tube would not work which is not a big deal for me. My question is, what is the difference in internet speed between the $5.99 & the $19.99 Tmobile plans?? Also, does anyone have trillian or any form of IM as a tmobile customer on their iphone? I am using 1.1.4. Thanks.

Also another thing I can't get with $5.99 plan is push mail. I have to click on the mail icon and refresh it, instead of it alerting me when I have new mail. Can I get this push mail with the $19.99 plan?

Just to clarify

What ki2594 was actually saying about 3g coming to tmobile october 1st, is that their 3g network will be launched in america. Not to be confused with 3g iphones, those are still on contract with at&t and looks like we wont be getting them any time soon. But kudos for ki2594 for finding that. So for those of you interested in having a 3g iphone with tmobile (when it manages to get unlocked) can use it. Unless the network is on a 1700 frequency because iphone is at 1800 frequency.

 Why does someone periodically have to come around spreading misinformation about this issue?

1) Yes, we all know T-Mobile USA is in 3G rollout.

2) Yes, we all know that the iPhone is going to continue to be exclusive to AT&T in the US in the near term.

3) Furthermore, we all (except you, apparently) know that T-Mobile USA is deploying 3G data services on a different band than AT&T in the US or the major Euro carriers, and the iPhone is not expected to work on T-Mobile's USA 3G network (but will most likely work, once unlocking is relatively stable, for EDGE and GSM voice).

As a matter of fact

Thank you for stating the obvious (as I did, I will be the first to admit it) about tmobile and every thing iphone. I was only clarifying on what ki2954 was saying. Many people DO know about these statements that you and I have both said, which is pretty redundant because you just restated what I said but called me stupid for saying it. Anyways, MANY people don't know this, because unlike you and I, they don't do their research. So, I am not stupid, and nor are you. But thanks for calling me names. Much appreciated.:)

I have a problem with my iphone.

So here is the low down. I'm going to post the whole story, so please bear with me here, I need help.

I just bought my friends iphone. He has cingular, I have tmobile. He upgraded to the firmware 2.0.1. So, when I got it, I downgraded to 2.0 and (I am a windows user) used winpwn to unlock it. When I started the unlock, winpwn was working fine, but it wouldn't create the custom restore file. So, I found a file that someone had uploaded and used that. What seemed like forever went by, but my iphone was finally unlocked. But when it tried to connect to itunes, it had an error message (i cant remember what it was but the code was something like 'x1600').

I was so happy, I didn't care, the phone works flawlessly, internet, maps, stocks, and weather. But now, when I connect my phone to itunes, it opens it with 'set up your iphone'. Here it lets me rename it, and check or uncheck the box for 'automatically sync contacts, calendars, etc.' But, for some odd reason, it cut off a portion of the screen, i'm assuming it should have a button that says sync, but from this screen, i can't do anything. No music, movies, anything. The phone still works. Its running 2.0 firmware on tmobile.

PLEASE, any help would be SO much appreciated.

Thank you,
Corey

Right now there is no way to successfully unlock a 2.0 phone. The only way to do so is by a hardware unlock.

i know

I know that 3g iphones aren't unlocked. They can be jailbroken but that doesn't help me. 2.0 firmware on a 2g (old version iphone) can be unlocked. I'm proof. Mine is unlocked and everything works fine except when i plug it into itunes it is stuck on the menu that says 'set up your iphone'. 'benflick' gave me a suggestion that i unistall and reinstall itunes, which is what i'm doing now. can others post any other ideas in case that doesn't work?

Thanks

sadly, it didn't work. I restarted after uninstalling and then again after reinstalling. I have a screen shot of what itunes looks like. It has a scroll bar for up and down, but none for left and right. I have an attachment, but idk if it will show or not, im kinda new to this site

well since no one cared to answer my question, i found out for myself. You can use your blackberry internet plan on an unlocked iphone, i didnt have to switch to the total access plan, just poped my sim card inside!

I unlocked my iPhone and inserted the SIM card from my corporate Blackberry. The phone worked but internet did not. Am I missing something?

TIA...
