can someone clarify something for me? if i get the total internet plan for $19.99... would that give me the capabilities to access email and web from anywhere? or does it only mean i get those services at a tmobile hotspot location? for instance... could i be at a friend's house that does not have wi-fi and be able to access the internet? or be at the grocery store and be able to access the internet?

I can't sync my iPhone with my pc iTunes
it synced with my work of and my brother in laws. Can I take my boyfriends iPod to work and download his music to the computer my iphone did sync with. Just about all the music is not bought by iTunes. Will this work? Or will I delete all the non iTunes music in his iPod?

I'm not an expert, but I'm looking into this kind of thing for myself. This is what I found on T-Mobile's website:

T-Mobile Web:
So with T-Mobile Web (aka t-zones) you get unlimited web and email access, with no special features such as Blackberry's push email, etc. You access this through the cell network (EDGE or something nearly identical). You need a T-mobile signal to get online.
With T-Mobile Total Internet, you get the cell network-based access AND access through T-Mobile's hotspots in some stores, and possibly affiliated WiFi networks. You can still get online where there's no hotspots (assuming you get a useful T-Mobile cell signal) but when there is a hotspot you'll get better speeds. And they'll provide some assistance in setting up Gmail, AOL, etc., access.

So I don't really know what the blackberry plan is, but i don't know if you've tried it, but turning restarting your phone may help? But if that doesn't work, you may have to change your APN to wap.voicestream.com and leave user and password blank. Settings>General>network>cellular network> APN Its something like that. My phone is dead so I can't check.
Honestly I have no idea what this will do, I only know that I had to do it for the 5.99 Tzones hack. I don't think it would hurt if you tried it. You should wait for someone else to give their input about your problem. Anyone else who reads this, if it is wrong, no name calling please, I just told you that i honestly have no idea. I'm sure its not the right thing to do, but at least i'm friendly enough to give an input. So much would be appreciated if you don't respond to his question by starting it saying 'GELLECC IS SUCH AN IDIOT. BLAH BLAH BLAH.' Again, I'm only trying to help. Thank you.
I have my own question. I have 5.99 tzones web. I am running 2.0 firmware on first gen iphone unlocked with winpwn. SO, my installer is called cydia. I downloaded the 'tzones proxy hack' from them, changed my APN, and here's the low down. I can get on edge, but sometimes the page wont load and above the address bar it will say '500 internal server error' or something along those lines. Where the webpage should be, there is a message like 'request url:xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx.html' (x's signify whatever website.) It has another message that starts and ends with '$' but i can't remember what it says. but then, i will exit safari and go back in and reload and it will work fine. any ideas?
Also, anyone else who has done this, can you tell me if your bill comes with a list of websites that you've been too? I don't want my parents bill to be 900 pages long because i go to a bunch of different sites.
Lastly, when I unlocked it with winpwn, it asked me to check some boxes, one of which was youtube fix. I checked that when making the custom restore file but youtube does not work (unless on wifi). Is there a way to fix this problem without redoing the whole restore and unlock process? On edge, when i go to youtube.com, it says i have javascript turned off or i am not running the latest version of macromedia flash player. Javascript is on, so is there a way to get the right version of macromedia flash? I heard stuff that there is no download that supports the iphones OS.

Depending on seemingly random aspects of your account, you probably need to input an APN in the iPhone settings. You go to settings -> general -> network -> cellular data network, and then...
- APN = wap.voicestream.com
- username and password = leave blank
If this doesn't work, then you may need a different APN... possibly internet2.voicestream.com -- if in doubt, you can call T-Mo and ask which APN you should be using (they don't mind the question).

Hey, IDK what you did to your iphone, but I'm going to guess that you upgraded to 2.0.1 firmware. You tried to unlock it, but THAT version has not been finalized yet (This is for you to use with another service other than cingular...im assuming).
You will have to downgrade from 2.0.1 to 2.0 firmware. This site will help, just make sure you get the restore file for version 2.0 not 1.1.4. http://dailyapps.net/2008/07/hack-attack-downgrade-iphone-2g-from-20-to-114-and-unlock-it/
Then, once you downgrade it, unlock with this.
My recommendation is to download 'winpwn' for windows or 'pwnage tool' for mac. When I got my ipod, all i could do was make an emergency call as well. As soon as you unlock it again, it will work fine. Youtube is your friend. I would search 'ty iphone winpwn' and look for the video where the kid sounds like he is from tennessee. Even though he's a kid, he helps.

Ok I used the pwnage tool and followed the directions. Called T-mobile and asked for full internet package,and help to get the browser working. And I was given this code for the APN-internet2.voicesstream.com . Username and Password stayed blank. Waited for 5min and all was well.

My Space not loading correctly
Myspace is redirecting me to an odd page that gives you the option to go to full version or mobile version. Neither one works very well. Most of the time it is only letting me go to full PC version and then it ends up kicking me off. Ahhhhh what is going on. It was working fine before.

I keep getting that stupid "500 enternal error" when I go to safari. I do have the tzones plan which was working just fine until one day this error just came up. It has been this way for over a week and I can't find anyone who can seem to help. Am I screwed and can't use this phone for anything it is actually made for? Or can someone out there actually help me?

Apparently T-mo changed something on how Tzones works. Happened to me this week as well.
To fix, download the new version of the Tzones hack, and then make sure your EDGE settings are still correct. If the EDGE settings are missing go to this link http://www.modmyifone.com/forums/os-x-specific-modding-discussion/252851-no-edge-settings-iphone-2-0-1st-g-help.html
If all else fails, just restore your firmware.
This worked for me this week.

New to OpenSSH
Alright, I'm struggling with trying to fix the new TZones problem. I've never used OpenSSH before, but I've spent about the last hour playing with it trying to figure it out. What do I need to modify iphone settings other that OpenSSH on the iPhone and Terminal on the Mac? I'm sure most will think this is a stupid question, but I've never used these programs before.
Also, I downloaded the TZones hack from Cydia. It didn't work. The APN settings are blank. Do I need to run OpenSSH and change things? I've figured out how to connect with the iPhone through OpenSSH but don't understand how to access different files to modify them. If I'm trying to modify a file such as: /var/mobile/Library/Carrier.Bundle.... how do I get to it? Thank you in advance for your help.

If you're having a terrible time with the Tzones hack, upgrade to the Total Internet Plan for $19.99. That plan works without having the Tzones Hack or any hack at all. My phone is Unlocked and not Jailbroken.

Your apn should be wap.voicestream.com and the password and username should be left blank. To use SSH, I would recommend downloading BossPrefs, this will let you turn on and off SSH. Also, to use SSH, I have a pc, but i use winscp, winscp may be somthing different for mac, but thats what i use.

That comes preset from apple, so there shouldn't be a reason that your phone isn't connecting to wifi. unless you have wifi turned off. I'm sure you know this, but just in case, got to settings>Wifi>Click 'on'>connect to a router (locked or unlocked as long as you know the password) and tuh-duh! Other than that, I don't know why it wouldn't be connecting to wifi.

Then it must just be my seriously messed up phone because when I try to connect to my wifi at home it says "timed out cannot connect to server"??? I am totally lost
