Yeah the streaming rights and who gets what under MLB is due for a top-down overhaul. In the states, we are subject to blackout restrictions based on our geographic location. For example, I'm able to watch Red Sox and Dodgers games without issue BUT if I want to watch a Seattle Mariners game, MLB's logic is "You are either close enough to see the game in person OR you are in an area where the cable provider offers the game on TV but you have to pay for the cable package."
There is growing momentum though to have all of the streaming rights fall under the MLB umbrella instead of them being sold to regional sports networks. This is the case with the Padre's and a few other teams because of the RSN's bankruptcy.
