The playoffs are gaining more clarity as most teams in the American League have been mathematically eliminated from wild card contention - only Seattle has a shot at making it

Where as many teams still have a shot, albeit outside in the national league

According to ESPN, this is the first time in 30 years the postseason won't include the Cardinals, Red Sox or Yankees.

Not sure what to do with that, but thought it was interesting.

81 losses with 3 to play....

Need to sweep the Dodgers to avoid a losing record. Definitely not playing well enough to do that, and a .500 record isn't going to paper over the cracks in this team.

A disappointing season, but they did have a very strong run for a couple of months, and a lot of intriguing prospects made their major league debuts, so there's something to build on. Zaidi and Kapler need to learn from their mistakes and make adjustments. If the team is in a similar spot this time next year, they should be gone.

He doesn't like "loud" fans in the seats at the infield. I assume he means the obnoxious ones. That problem could largely be solved by banning alcohol sales.

But the clubs make too much profit selling alcohol. Blows me away that so many people pound beers at the ballpark to the point of belligerent inebriation, especially considering how much they have to pay for them. Some people "pre-game" more intensively than others, but clubs should have less tolerance for abusive drunks and eject them from the park more frequently.

Interesting comments from Farhan Zaidi that cast some doubt on Gape Kapler's future. The narrative is taking shape that Kapler let things get too lax in the clubhouse, and with the absence of veteran leaders with credibility to set the tone, internal disciplinary standards have really slid. Looking from the outside, the team has gotten very sloppy, setting a franchise record for strikeouts and making an unacceptable amount of errors and mental lapses defensively.

good!

Cut him loose!

First time posting in this thread. I’m a Guardians fan, so to say this season has been a disappointment is an understatement. Given the pitching situation, I hope for a rebound next year, but more offense is a huge need. Just not sure how the team can meaningfully address it, even with a possible Bieber trade.

Yeah. The more I read about the dynamics in the Giants clubhouse, the more I came around to supporting letting Kapler go. 100% correct call.

Was getting blasted by notifications about this yesterday but still sucks...

RIP Wake...

Shame about Tim Wakefield, he wasn’t that old. He was one of the few pitchers of that era who I never had a chance to see play in the flesh.

You know what annoys me? That MLB sold the postseason tv rights for the Netherlands to ESPN, which means I can’t take a cheap $30 deal on MLB.TV just for streamed postseason coverage anymore but would have to subscribe to a much more expensive cable package to get it, which most of the year I don’t want. Harrumph.

Yeah, the postseason is ALWAYS on cable channels in the US. It's beyond stupid. You could try Sling TV or Fubo but at that point, you might as well pay for a cable subscription.
