Dodgers win, 2-1 in 11.

Sorry dannyyankou :D
If there's any takeaway from this game, it's that a Yankees pitching staff with a spot starter and tired bullpen can shut down a practically full strength Dodgers lineup for 10 innings, and a Yankees lineup missing the best offensive player in baseball is going to struggle a bit. Shocker.

It really demonstrates how much Soto protects Judge in the lineup. Now they're able to pitch around Judge to get to Stanton.

The Dodgers missing Max Muncy is not insignificant. Nor is their weakened bullpen, with all the guys on DL. Blaming injuries? tsk tsk. The weakened Dodgers pitching staff kept Judge, Stanton, Volpe, Verdugo, Rizzo on check. The Yankees were not lacking in firepower.

Eh, overrated. I know it’s old school, but .217 batting average since 2020? I’ll pass.

Fun fact, Aaron Judge’s 2022 had a higher fWAR than Max Muncy’s last 4 seasons combined, including his start to this season.

Muncy is a 25 HR left handed bat and 3B. Fairly important.

Judge now on pace for 58 homers.

Yankees salvage the last game of the series against the Dodgers. But they lose the regular season series without the reigning Cy Young and possible MVP. Whatever. The real fun starts in October. This isn't over.

Glad to see my Red Sox back at least hanging on to .500 this year, but then to be 12.5 GB...

Makes me want to go back about 8 years

Aaron Judge is on pace to have a 12.2 WAR this season, which would be higher than Barry Bonds had in any session in his entire career. And Babe Ruth had a higher WAR in only 2 seasons.
No offense but I gotta wonder if any of these new sluggers are doping...

Do they even test players anymore?

Willie Mays was simply the best to ever play the game. RIP. I'm too young to have watched him play, but his legendary presence with the Giants was a constant over the decades.

Looking forward to watching the Rickwood game tonight.

Speaking of the Rickwood game... did anyone happen to see the Reggie Jackson interview. Talk about powerful!!! Man, you can feel it.

I always had a lot of respect for Reggie, and it's only gone up.

Dusty Baker also spoke pretty regularly about his experiences playing in the minor leagues in the south in the 60s. Harrowing stuff, and not as far in the past as we'd like to think.

There's so much irony in paying tribute to Negro League players in the City of Birmingham. Yeah, the Barons played there, but it wasn't a welcoming place if you weren't white. The economy of Birmingham was built literally on the backs of slave laborers, who were replaced with "fresh recruits" when the cruel mistreatment resulted in deaths. Many blacks were falsely imprisoned and then "loaned" to coal mining companies in what was called "The New Slavery" after the Emancipation Proclamation and well into the 1900's. It's a shameful past that is not often acknowledged.

(Mostly just the facts - you can look it up. My opinion seeps in because it's too hard to suppress my disdain.)
