They're going to be pushing out new iPhoto and iWeb updates pretty soon too - both still say .Mac in their export features.

I looked in the English .dist/.txt file and found some information. It should be no surprise that it recommends Mac OS X 10.5.4, and even part of the update says you need 10.5.4.

Apple said:
"The Mac OS X Update For MobileMe is recommended for users running Mac OS X Leopard 10.5.4 and includes general system fixes that enhance your Mac for MobileMe."

Apple said:
// only install on 10.5.4
if (!plist || system.compareVersions(plist.ProductVersion, "10.5.4") < 0)

I'm still waiting to install the update, but I'm excited to start using the new features. Bring on the iTunes & iPhone updates! :)

It works!

I installed it but don't even subscribe to the service. But it changed every .Mac to MobileMe.

Does anyone know how the .mac family pack works?

If one were to get it, and had a friend wanting to use one of the 4 accounts. How does that work, does the original account have access to all sub accounts files and stuff? Or is each account separate?

you are correct. the family pack is meant to be used by members of the same household, under the same roof. now there's really no way for apple to check bc there's no authentication process (unlike microsoft), but try to remain honest bc apple trusts their consumers to not betray their trust. if too many people take advantage, apple will eventually add annoying authentication pocesses to all their family packs (OS X, iLife, etc)

I want it badly but I'm patiently waiting (OR NOT!)
But I'll wait 'till Apple officially releases it.
Good find though! :D

Edit: What the hell - let's go download it...here Me goes!!!

We can expect iTunes 7.7 updates to be available before 5AM tomorrow morning. Probably iPhone 2.0 update too.

Anyone know if the Software Update and iPhone Update servers discriminate based upon country/region?

is there such thing as itunes X? i found it in the XML

8:05 central time and .Mac is mysteriously still there

I'm thinking it won't go down until they're ready to bring MobileMe up. 6PM-12AM is simply when they'll be working on it. We should expect mac.com to go down soon, but not too soon? :p

Wow, you people are freaking out when they're 11 minutes late for their "possible" down time? :rolleyes:

I bet your hardly ever this punctual when going to work/class. :cool:;)

Apologies for the noob question but where are you guys finding the xml at?

This iPhone 2.0/Mobileme/active sync thing is as exciting as waiting for anything I have ever purchased from Apple. Can't wait till tomorrow morning. :D

"As part of the MobileMe launch, www.mac.com will be taken offline at 8pm PT on Wednesday, July 9th."

From the .Mac status message..

Now they are saying 10pm central time
