Anybody else run the new CAT on a mid 2011 Mac Mini? I want to update mine to El Capitan, but want to keep the current Handoff and other abilities I have. It seems from these couple reports this model and CAT have issues that cause wireless trackpad and keyboard lockups which won't work for me. Thanks.
On my Mac mini mid 2011, everything is OK with the installation of CAT. At first, everything seems to work but soon I find that Magic Mouse freeze. :(

Yeah, I can't have my trackpad and keyboard freezing up, so it looks like I might ride Yosemite a bit longer...

Does El Capitan keep on reenabling System Integrity Protection by itself after the user turns it off using the recovery partitions terminal command "csrutil disable"

I had disabled SIP multiple times on my 13inch early 2011 BMP running El Capitan GM and a few days later it just gets enabled by itself again.

Any ideas how to permanently disable it, as every time it gets enabled i end up getting the no hardware installed on the wifi and bluetooth and the only fix is to re install os x on top of the old system.

I'm assuming every time i use the App Store to download or update an app rootless gets enabled again, because thats what happened when i updated from Xcode 7 to Xcode 7.0.1 i had SIP disabled then it got enabled by itself after the update.

Did a fresh install of 10.11 (final release from today), ran the latest CAT from sysfloat and I *finally* have handoff and hotspot working! Must have been something up with my setup from before, but a fresh install fixed it. Cheers all!

You could've also signed in and out of iCloud on your computer.

Hey Zorto - could you please let me know - did you have to manually disable sip in recovery mode after installing el cap, or did you just run CAT without manually disabling sip?

This may not have worked, as I tried this when I installed the GM over Yosemite and signed out/in of iCloud. Airdrop/Handoff only worked after a fresh install of GM.

Finally got it all working on my MBP early 2011 with the 2012 card. At first only phone/sms/airdrop worked. However could not do the rest. I ran into the same thing before and a simple logout/login of iCloud on the MBP would do the trick. This did not work this time.

This did the trick for me:
Reboot using CMD+R
Open terminal
Use: "csrutil disable"
Reboot
Run CAT (with system prefs - security - allow apps downloaded from anywhere)
Reboot
Had to disable handoff in System prefs - General. Then logout of iCloud. Reboot. Login to iCloud. Enable handoff in System prefs - General. Did not alter anything on my iPhone
Switched back the apps downloaded from anywhere
Reboot using CMD+R
Open terminal
Use: "csrutil enable" (later read that CAT did this in the reboot)
Reboot

Now all works
Phone/sms/airdrop
mail/safari/numbers and others (in both directions) +personal hotspot
Bluetooth mouse/keyboard

(Used the cat beta version 2.1.1 as listed on the dokterdok GitHub - this is version 2.1.2 when running)

Continuity sometimes works, sometimes does not. If I attempt to install it it fails saying it is installed.
If I attempt to uninstall it, it fails, and then renders my BlueTooth Mouse and trackpad unresponsive and KPs the machine until I reinstall the OS (I assume this has to do with removing the BT KEs.

This is after a full install of the GM or the final released today.

Note the "NOT OK. Unknown State. Your Mac might not be compatible."
Note I disabled SIP.

I have a Mac Pro 2008 with the replaced Bluetooth/Wifi Card. i am running The OWC Mercury Accelsior E2
PCI based SSD.

Any ideas? This is using the tool release September the 16th....

Upgraded from 10.10 to 10.11 (Official release)
MBP Mid-2010 15 Inch
Previously running CAT 2.0.0 in 10.10 = Flawless.
Now running CAT 2.1.2 = Wi-fi: no hardware installed.

Steps i did:
1) recovery terminal: csrutil disable
2) reboot to normal desktop, ran CAT 2.1.2
3) Wi-fi: no hardware installed

Tested other things:
1) recovery terminal: nvram bootargs=rootless=0
2) reboot to normal desktop, ran CAT 2.1.2
3) Wi-fi: no hardware installed

To get recover my wi-fi issue:
1) removed after patch & backup folder containing: io80211family.kext and iobluetoothfamily.kext
2) ran CAT 2.1.2 UNINSTALL option (App would reacquire the driver directly from recovery HD instead)
3) Wi-fi working, but without CAT features.

Please help !!! I believe the drivers in io80211family.kext has something wrong ?
When wi-fi no hardware installed, the bluetooth works. I am able to hotspot with my iPhone for internet.

I did a clean install and got the no wifi hardware installed message. Uninstalled the new CAT and reinstalled (with reboot). Don't seem to be having the problem anymore. SIP is enabled again with no problems.
Weird. I was on the GM (clean install) before updating to Public and I disabled SIP, uninstalled Continuity (not CAT), updated to Public Release, reinstalled Continuity using CAT v2.1.1, tested/verified working and re-enabled SIP. Everything was fine on the first shot.

Kinda bummed split screen is broken tho. That was a cool feature.

Not the first time I have run into the no wifi hardware message after installing CAT.

With the first install, I got an error message during the backup kext process. Second time I did a clean run of CAT, didn't get that message and wifi is working fine.

Must be a random bug.

No joy for me.
Its a similar issue with: https://github.com/dokterdok/Continuity-Activation-Tool/issues/213

But, i do not know how to manually apply contitool.sh file in the newest beta...

same for me !! SIP gets enabled by itself

Hello,

I did a clean install of 10.11 (Official release) via USB.

Before restoring documents from Time Machine, i straight away use CAT 2.1.2.

Still no joy on MacBook Pro Mid 2010 15 Inch. I do not have anymore idea, except to wait for a newer CAT version.

Below are the attached logs of CAT 2.1.2

I just rebooted my MBP, and got the no wifi hardware installed symbol at the top of the screen. Booted to Command +R, disabled SIP and rebooted. I have wifi again. Handoff and Airdrop is working, but not getting any phone calls on the MBP or iPad Air. All are signed into the same account. Text forwarding toggles for both MBP and iPad Air are engaged.

It took about 30 minutes before handoff started working for me. My phone showing as a hotspot in the wifi menu was immediate though.

Macbook Air 2011.

Upgraded to El Capitan from Yosemite yesterday.
Tried running the beta CAP, got the damaged message. Changed install security option to everything.
CAP ran fine.
Showed SIP activated and that it would be a problem.
Followed instructions to reboot and disable SIP.
Restarted.
Ran CAP and got continuity turned back on.
Restarted.
CAP auto ran and apparently turned SIP back on. (Confirmed this in disk utility, info)
Handoff now working fine.

GOOD NEWS for macbook pro 2010 with BCM94331PCIEBT4CAX upgrade.
Osx El Capitan 10.11 Upgrade form yosemite today

I don't have modify bluetooth kext, just AirPortBrcm binary.

typed in terminal:
ioreg -l | grep "board-id" | awk -F\" '{print $4}'
show for my mac: Mac-F22586C8
and so i have manual edited the AirPortBrcm4360 binary and i have added my Mac-F22586C8 Board-id

Now This is what you have to do:

Reboot using CMD+R
Open terminal
Type: csrutil disable
Reboot
1. application/utility/terminal, write: sudo nvram boot-args="kext-dev-mode=1"
2. open Kext Drop and drag on it my IO80211Family.kext
3. This is the end: reboot your macbook, now we have all new functions working.
If not, try to log out iCloud from macbook and iphone and then login again

I am not sure if all the step are necessary, I am a regular apple user, not an expert.
I hope you can solve like me

This modded kext it's only for MacBookPro 2010 with BCM94331PCIEBT4CAX card upgrade
