GOOD NEWS for macbook pro 2010 with BCM94331PCIEBT4CAX upgrade.
Osx El Capitan 10.11 Upgrade form yosemite today

I don't have modify bluetooth kext, just AirPortBrcm binary.

typed in terminal:
ioreg -l | grep "board-id" | awk -F\" '{print $4}'
show for my mac: Mac-F22586C8
and so i have manual edited the AirPortBrcm4360 binary and i have added my Mac-F22586C8 Board-id

Now This is what you have to do:

Reboot using CMD+R
Open terminal
Type: csrutil disable
Reboot
1. application/utility/terminal, write: sudo nvram boot-args="kext-dev-mode=1"
2. open Kext Drop and drag on it my IO80211Family.kext
3. This is the end: reboot your macbook, now we have all new functions working.
If not, try to log out iCloud from macbook and iphone and then login again

I am not sure if all the step are necessary, I am a regular apple user, not an expert.
I hope you can solve like me

This modded kext it's only for MacBookPro 2010 with BCM94331PCIEBT4CAX card upgrade

Just to verify, we do not use the published CAT 2.1.2 app. We just follow as per your instructions ?

can anyone help with this:

Verifying ContinuitySupport... Print: Entry, ":Mac-F42C88C8:ContinuitySupport", Does Not Exist

NOT OK. Unknown state. Your Mac might not be compatible.

Thanks

Yes, we don't have to use CAT
With CAT 2.1.1 i lose my wifi card.

Followed as per your instruction and it works!!

I Did a full test -> restart, reset nvram (easier to re-enable csrutil instead of going back recovery), and power on & off. It still works! Its flawless. Thanks for your download package!

Good!!!

It is a simple and little modify of a file binary inside the kext i have shared.
I do not know why the CAT does not work but I think it's a little bug and that it is easy to solve for the creator of the program.

Now i try to send my solution to a creator of CAT for an upgrade of his program

with Mac mini 2011 it's always the same problem with trackpad and keyboard...

since elcapitan it's not necessary to modify bluetooth kext to activate airdrop and handoff

Is there a fix for MBP Early 2011?

It worked on my Early 2011 MBP....Make sure you disable SIP with CSRUTIL in recovery, it does not seem to work if you do it with the NVRAM arg... I am not sure why... Also, you have to have changed your physical card as well with a compatible one.

If you have used it before, it seems to freak out if the backup folders are already there, so rename or delete them before you run it.

Thnx! I'll try it again with the folders deleted. Also I'll disable SIP again, just to be sure.
I've changed my physical BT/WiFi card last year in order to activate continuity. It has always worked well.
Just couldn't seem to get it to work this time. Maybe I'm doing something wrong..
Maybe someone can post a conclusive and complete how-to, including the download link of the correct CAT version? Or make a version that does everything automatically;)

Nope still nothing. Didn't change that airport binary though. How do you change that airport binary? Where do I find this?
And where to download the latest CAT? I'm on 2.0.0. Could't find a newer version on Github

NOICE!!
Got Handoff to work, but the Airdrop and Hotspot functions don't seem to work.
I've logged off and on to iCloud, didn't do the trick. Neither did rebooting

CAT 2.1.0 with cloudpaird from Yosemite works for me with El Captan 10.11.1 PB on Macbook Pro Early 2011 13" (Handoff and Airdrop)...

I'm on CAT 2.1.1 so that should work. I have to look into that cloudpaird thing. Not sure what that is or how that works.. Looks to me I have to copy the cloudpaird directory from a Yosemite system. I just upgraded my Yosemite Mac Mini to El Capo_O. Got TimeMachine backups though.. Would that work? And how? Never had to use TimeMachine files before..
Broke my iPhone yesterday, so have to repair that before I can do further testing:(

Does anyone who is working on CAT know if this is an issue that could be fixed via CAT, or with some other file copy? Some folks here have reported the issue, and I'm holding off on my MacMini upgrade to El Capitan until I can ensure this will all work as expected.

From the README.md of the beta branch :
  • 2015-08-13 - New active lead : I (sysfloat) will now be the main contributer and manager of the project, since dokterdok is not able to support this project anymore. He supported me with a lot of stuff and his research into enabling Continuity with dongles. I will contact some old beta testers and will do my best to get the dongles working on El Capitan and merge my fork with the beta branch.

I just rebooted my MBP, and got the no wifi hardware installed symbol at the top of the screen. Booted to Command +R, disabled SIP and rebooted. I have wifi again. Handoff and Airdrop is working, but not getting any phone calls on the MBP or iPad Air. All are signed into the same account. Text forwarding toggles for both MBP and iPad Air are engaged.
So I had this happen last night as well after updating iTunes to v12.3. I rebooted in Recovery and disabled SIP and it was working. Tried to re-enable and no hardware again. So I disabled SIP, removed Continuity, uninstalled CAT, rebooted, reinstalled CAT, installed Continuity, rebooted, verified working, then re-enabled SIP. Strange it happened after updating iTunes. Not sure if that's really the case or more coincidence....

So, with "official" 10.11, from what I've read in the thread, CAT still have some troubles, right?
Reading here and on GitHub issues page, maybe less troubles with MacBook Pro early 2011 & CAX upgrade(that is mine configuration), but from time to time stop working.
Don't know if El Cap worth the upgrade: I would love to install it, but these features (Handoff, Continuity and Airdrop) are too useful, don't want to lose :p

I have it working on my late 2011 MBPro with modded hardware (I see you have an early 2011 - same thing). However, I need to leave SIP off for reliable WiFi hardware detection. If having SIP on is important for you, I'd wait a bit....

I have Handoff/Airdrop working perfect on my late 2011 MBP with SIP enabled. Worked with CAT v2.1.1.

Thanks ebernet. Actually, I lived w/o SIP until now, so I think I could also in 10.11 :) At least, until the whole thing will work 100%, it's a fair way to have both (El Cap and C/H/A)

Thanks Simon. That is the odd thing: you have all working with SIP, and ebernet must keep SIP turned off. Well, tomorrow I will try to install El Cap, and then will let you know how everything will work on mine MacBookPro.

Again, thanks :)

I've had it just randomly disable showing the wifi icon and that there is wifi between reboots. Maybe it will work for two reboots, and then it will go away again. No problems with sip off. Obviously, YMMV... But for now I am simply leaving it off until I get 100% confirmation that it can be made to work reliably with SIP on...

Interestingly I had rebooted after updating iTunes to 12.3 and something else and then I had the no hardware icon. I posted about it a few posts above yours.
