Hi, I wonder if someone could help me. I just registered here just to post this. I'm not comfortable using the Activation tool, (not out of distrust, just not familiar with it), and have been modifying the files within the two kext packages manually with each OS upgrade. That's been working fine. I just upgraded to 10.11.3 (from 10.10.2 I believe — I'd been avoiding it for this very reason), and I now find that the data block I need to modify in the file "IOBluetoothFamily" (which is found in IOBluetoothFamily.kext/Contents/MacOS/) is nowhere to be found. It seems that the version of this file that 10.11 installed is substantially different from previous versions. I strongly suspect that if I had hung on to the Yosemite version, or hell, the original Lion version for that matter, I'd be able to modify at as I usually do and have it work, but it's long gone.

I've got a MBP 13" late 11 with upgraded WiFi/Bluetooth

**Could someone kind possibly provide an old version of the kext (or just the file I need, even) for me to download?** If it's easier to mail it to me, I'd happily accept it at parkernyc83@yahoo.com. Thanks in advance.

Also, I'm not using the "rootless=0" boot argument. Anyway, I thought that dev-mode was superseded by SIP? I'm just turning SIP all the way off and LEAVING it off! I modify way too many system files for this BS about turning it off and on and off and on and booting into Recovery Mode every time I install an extension that (God forbid) is unsigned! If this leaves me vulnerable to someone who wants to hack into my Mac and look at all my boring spreadsheets, he can have at it!

I am sure that this is NOT the answer you are looking for, but it is the CORRECT answer. This solution, is the answer. and was created for the very reason you are requesting help. You don't want to go through all of the hassle of doing it manually. Is that correct?

The answer is very simple, run the Modded Continuity Activation tool. It works, and works well. It is very easy to use, and requires only one reboot.

I notice that the CAT GitHub still says that the tool will not work with El Capitan and a dongle? Is this still the case?

I would like to get BLE working with a BCM20702A0 dongle from Gmyle on a Late 2011 MacBook Pro 13".

Any updates to this software since last October 2015 which is last notes on GitHub? I just downloaded OS X 10.11.4 on my 2mid-011 Macbook Air and want to make sure it causes no issues.

I uninstalled CAT and then reinstalled after updating to 10.11.4. Working fine.
BGG - I am still in Yosemite, using CAT down there, but am about to cross over to El Cap. ???? do we still have to boot into recovery and manually disable sip for El Cap????

Anyone have any idea why my IOGear 4.0 BT is showing up wrong w/ the LMP?

CAT ran fine, but no continuity.

Has anyone else experienced CAT no longer running and issuing an alert pop up when SIP has been reenabled? I don't recall having a problem in the past, when I reenabled SIP after CAT install.
I forgot that I updated iTunes last night. A lot of times after system updates, SIP seems to get turned back on automatically. I uninstalled CAT / reinstalled with SIP off / rebooted back into recovery and turned SIP back on with CAT enabled. Working as it should now.

It has been a long time since I first tried a BT dongle but, I seem to recall, that it didn't always recognize correctly after rebooting at times. In your case, it could be a faulty dongle or unsupported one. The latest CAT release does not support BT 4.0 dongle with continuity.

OS X El Capitan 10.11.5 killed it again but could restore

I had to do this process all over again and I am good again.

This worked for me on:
Mac Pro (Early 2009)+OSXWIFI BT4.0 CARD

Replaced
/System/Library/CoreServices/cloudpaird

with this old version:

from
https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/modded-continuity-activation-tool-btle-cards -with-el-capitan-is-working.1890715/page…

perhaps logout from and login to iCloud

If copying is denied disable rootless

I don't know, I tried that CAT tool with a BlueTooth Dongle, all I have to say are two words, like others have said: KERNEL PANICS...

Have a CCC backup ready...
