Same outcome... rebuilt the spotlight but still yielding "No Results" on search. Someone else in this thread said search results were available immediately after installing the beta update so not sure what's going on there. I have three separate emails accounts running under Outlook but it doesn't seem to matter whether I search under one or under all. Tempted to try the 12.2 OS beta but at this point hoping that an official MS update will fix. Pretty jealous that others are saying the 16.58 fixed their issue.

Agreed. I NEED this to work. I have over 500,000 emails and not being able to search is destroying my ability to work.

I updated the Office Suite to beta 16.58 and this fixed the issue for me. Running MacOS 12.1 on 2018 Macbook Air

Bingo!!! I am another lucky man. After installation of Outlook Beta 16.58 it seems that search is working. I did not tests if the results is 100% correct but at first sight it seems that yes. Results appeared immediately as I launched Beta Outlook after update. Hope that this Beta will not have another bugs which will prevent me to use it - I just did quick search test. MBP 14 M1 Pro, Monterey 12.1., Exchange account.

There is another bug in outlook (but it was already in 16.56 and probably also in earlier versions). If you have messages which are digitally signed and contain attachment(s) and you perform the search for any messages containing attachments the search will show only messages containing attachments but are NOT digitally signed. Signed messages with attachments are omitted from the search result. Such search is working correctly on Windows Outlook clients. I will report this behavior to MS. If you have the same trouble please do the same.

Fixes the issue for me too. Using Monterey 12.1 with MacBook Air (13-inch, 2017).

This very annoying problem is now for the past with the latest release, I'm in 16.57 (preview channel). No rebuild needed.

First of all thank you to all for contributing to this long thread. Really appreciate the constructive comments and people testing things saving me a lot of time.

I have MacBook Pro 13" (M1) with macOS 12.1. and had MS Office apps from the Mac App Store. After 12.1. the search in Outlook was dead. I deleted outlook, wiped the licences with the Microsoft license removal tool for Mac and downloaded new versions from office.com (logged in under my work account). Upon activating the Beta channel in the updates, running the updates my Outlook searches again.

thank you all for all the help, really appreciate it.

I see everyone saying the new beta of office fixes the search but does it also fix the smart folder search? i.e if I create a smart folder to show me all my flagged messages in all folders, will it work?

THE KEY TEST, is to save the search so that it creates a smart folder then check if it works, I know if you just search it it will probably work but if you save it as a smart search folder will it work?

Just upgraded to beta, search is working yes HOWEVER smart folder saved searches do not work!!! FFS!
When I create a search for flagged emails and have it set to "All mailboxes" so that it searched all folders then save the search, go to the folder, low and behold I get the famous "No Results" .... unbelieveable.

Dumb question.

If you switch to the beta updates, will the Microsoft AutoUpdate automatically update you to the official build when it comes out?

Thanks.

Switch to beta - then upgrade
Immediately Switch back to Current Channel - I quite like the preview experience though, which is an intermediate setting

Have the same problem. Upgraded to beta - no luck; rebuilt spotlight, reboot computer - no luck... MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2018, Four Thunderbolt 3 Ports); Monterey 12.1
Do you try?
sudo mdutil -a -i on

Hi,
Just for your information, I did have extol the same problem. I don't know how, but this morning the Outlook Seach was working as a charm...??? No update (beta) neither OSX or Office 365

I did not do anything. I don't know if it comes from the client (Outlook) or from OSX...

BTW the Outlook release is 16.57 (22010502) and OSX is macOS 12.1 (21C52)
Let me know if you did collect anything.

Regards.

JP

working fine again with Monterey 12.2 Beta 1 on MBP M1 Max and Outlook 16.58 (22010406) - just some of the intelligent folders seem to have some problems

Yes, indexing is enabled. But the problem is still there :-(
OK, magic occurred - entered "sudo mdutil -a -i on" one more time, waited until indexing finished, rebooted the whole system... and "search" works again!

Smart search folders are not working properly, i want a folder that will search all my folders for flagged emails, when i save my search folder it defaults to current folder and doesnt search all mailboxes, i have reported it to MS support.

Yeah, Outlook 16.58 restores the search! Changed to beta channel, deactivated "automatic updates", manually installed (only) outlook beta, switched back to "current channel" (just in case) and voila.
