BoyGeniusReport managed to get their hands on a iPhone 3G and posted a gallery with some good quality photos of the new iPhone. Unfortunately their iPhone has not been activated so little else could be revealed.

While we've covered iPhone 2.0 firmware screenshots in the past, WinSuperSite[/url] has an extensive gallery of photos of the iPhone 2.0 Firmware and installation process.

The iPhone 3G will become available on July 11th internationally. Apple is also expected to release the 2.0 Firmware for the original iPhones at that time.

There's nothing wrong with Apple going the plastic route. I don't see what's the complaining about the plastic all about.

Why is the white iPhone 3G so hard to get to see on these early releases?
It's always black that shown.

Ugly you can see its cheap plastic - the plastic on the bottom of the first gen iphone looks a lot better

Am I the only one disappointed that Apple basically went backwards with its design? It sounds shallow, but I'm seriously considering not upgrading because I think the 1st gen iPhone looks SO much better than the new one... *sigh*

that's because the aluminum iPhone you see it's a first gen iphone

Personally I prefer the look of the original iPhone, IMO the iPhone 3G looks cheap. I'm also afraid that the plastic will scratch easily, like the 5G iPods.

I think it looks fine. I dont see why people are complaining about it. All phones are made of crappy plastic...get over it.

all except my first gen iPhone

While some of you will complain about the plastic for its cheaper look, most people will be appreciating the extra signal strength of the various radio modules due to the plastic back causing less interference, and consequently an increased battery life. Just test out the distance you can receive an Airport signal on a plastic MacBook, versus and Aluminium MBP. It's about twice as receptive.

people always need something to complain about.

better receptions = plastic over the AL casing. plain and simple.
it might not be the best choice to be as 'glossy' as it is, but i'm sure they tried matte too.
