Good job, Moto! Sold out everywhere.

Any smart business would not make an initial large quantity of product if they don't know how well it would do. Nobody wants to be like Microsoft and write off $900 Million. With that said, if they only made 500,000 devices initially for sale and they sold out, is it really a good job?

Really? You think Moto purposely didn't make a large quantity? I know they are notorious for doing this based off previous launches. According to their official Twitter, it may be a while before they have stock again. Interesting if they underestimated the popularity of this watch.

It is more like "not available in stores anywhere", not necessarily sold out. Cannot be sold out per se if stores did not get any to begin with in the first place but I love those clerks that are programmed to say "sold out" regardless. And the last store "cluck" I dealt with said the product has now be delayed for release and will be available next month. Just unbelievable what customers are told.

But least we forget this isn't an Apple or Samsung product we are dealing with.

Damn that's not too far from me. Maybe an hour or two.

I think I'll wait until my Moto order comes though, someone else can feel the 360 love

I'm about the same distance but I ain't taking the trip. I bet many places will have it early next week.

Managed to get one this morning, about a half hour ride and it was their last. Five minutes longer and it would have been gone. The gentleman who wanted one after I bought it offered me an additional $100. Not sure if you can just order it and pick it up later in the week but I took his name and number and if I get my hands on another, ... :)

I know the main question is about battery life. Well my first go with it later today will be setting it up and then playing with it. So maybe in a day or two I will have at least an initial report to give.

I'd sell it quick. It's an extension to your phone and it's a want not a need. Not only that, buying a 1.0 device is usually not a good idea. Look at Samsung.

With Apple about to announce their offering that has a full emphasis on design, jewelry and functionality, this will be another example of other companies missing the mark. They will soon start over releasing new products that follow Apple's trend. Bank on it.

Samsung already trying to release any possible wearable design to water down what Apple will bring to the table. They focused on a watch and was off target again.

Not crazy about text being cut off. Seems to me a circular display isn't great for notifications, text messages, directions, etc. good for telling time and maybe displaying weather.

Motorolas first smart watch and its get sold out on day one. Sony and Samsung need to listen and stop producing rubbish.

Personally I will wait till smartwatches can do more than provide pointless notification alerts.

What makes their devices rubbish? Not having a circular display? At least they don't have flat tires and text being cut off. Oh and the latest Samsung watch has better battery life too.

I picked one up yesterday morning. It's stylish enough to wear and forget you're wearing it, if that makes any sense.

Best part about it is the hands free voice commands. I can send a text by saying OK Google and have it transcribe something. I can say Navigate to Glendale Galleria and a turn by turn and a map will appear on the watch. If I'm in the kitchen, I can do stuff like tell it to set a timer for 5 mins or ask how many tablespoons in a cup without having to touch anything. Incredibly useful and the killer feature for the watch IMO.

There's the heart rate monitor and step counter, which I don't really care for. Everything else is standard Android Wear stuff, mostly focusing around notifications. Whether or not you can read stuff like texts depends on Android Wear support. IE I use Verizon's standard text message app and the text notifications get cut off. Through GroupMe though, I swipe up to get the full text, swipe to the left to get options like "like" or reply via voice, etc. Some apps, like Wear Camera, don't work with the watch yet.

With battery, I'm currently at 77% after 5 hours. Both watch face always on and ambient screen are disabled.

Really?

How about the fact that no one has bought them......

As for the latest Samsung Gear S the only thing it has going for it is the fact it can take a sim and thus be an independent watch phone. For me this is what all smart watches should have. However you need to get past the hideous stylish and strap first.

Good old XDA!

Right now the availability is very limited. Time will tell when it ramps up.

Seems it's possible to get close to a day if you disable the sensors and don't play with it too much. And then there's those getting well below one day's use with what I would call real-world use.

I'd be wanting the watch face on all the time (like a watch!) and not have to worry about limiting the use just to make it through the day.

Android Wear also needs optimising for circular displays.

No one has bought them? Says who? Moto didn't give out any sales figures. And what is selling is mostly due to all the hype they're getting from the tech press. The Verge review scored it at 8.1 even though the individual component scores were much worse. Clearly this device is being graded on its aesthetic look more than it's functionality. If I want a good-looking watch I'll go buy a good-looking watch, not something pretending to be a watch with crappy battery life.

What exactly is your point. No smart watch is currently in a state to be worthy imo. However Moto has shown the way to approach the product. Samsung and Sony are on their 4th or 5th iteration and their products are still gash.

I have 2 TAGs so have some nice watches. It doesn't mean I wouldn't consider a smartwatch.

I agree. To say Moto is on their FIRST attempt, it was a pretty good one. Samsung - the "so called" leader of innovation has around seven smart watches out and all of their battery life sucks! Give credit where credit is due...Moto didn't knock it out the ballpark, but the second generation Moto 360 will correct a lot of the first generation problems. And, blame Google for the software...they are coming out of Android Wear 2.0 next month, so Android watches will look more appealing. Hopefully, there's some battery optimization.

So far on XDA people who have them are reporting 10-12 hours with the screen always on, and maybe closer to 20 hours with the screen set to time out. Mine is out for delivery so I'll know a bit more later on. It's not incredible, but the entire smartwatch segment is kind of an alpha market. I don't mind being a guinea pig for such a cool product, heck we'll all be upgrading to the 360 version 2 in 10 months anyway with "improved" battery life as the main marketing point.

I think you'll like it. Unless Apple does something totally amazing with the iWatch that makes it obsolete

One of the best parts is it's fashionable. You won't draw that "look he's got a nerd toy" type of attention

Agreed. But a tough sell for most of the market. What percentage of teens and women will wear a smartwatch?

Nerd toy? I felt that way with the look of the Samsungs personally. This 360 is way more fashionable.

I'm excited for it, first smartwatch that makes me ok with replacing a Rolex which is really only used for fashion. I'm curious what Apple does though, but I don't plan on getting an iPhone so it's probably a moot point for me.

Just got this from UPS, it's pretty sick. My biggest fear was how huge it looked in pictures and on peoples wrists. It's not huge at all, it's just a bit larger in diameter than my Rolex but is actually less bulky looking due to not having the diver dial. I'm very fashion conscious and have no issues having this on my wrist at all. I wouldn't be caught dead with one of the square smartwatches.

I am going to grab a metal band for it later today and see how it looks with that. So far though aesthetically I'm quite pleased.

No clue what the market is or where the tech will go. Ended up buying a Pebble Steel out of curiousity, and now the 360. Main thing I've learned is fashion matters more than function, which is funny because it's the exact opposite of what we're used to with tech.

Using a wearable that's not fashionable is like wearing a helmet 24/7 that stores water with a straw coming out the side. Yeah it's useful, but you look wierd wearing it and most people don't wanna look wierd. This is pretty much the problem with Google Glass

What I like about the 360 is it looks like just another couple hundred dollar timepiece. Most people won't even notice it's a smartwatch. You remove the electronic guts and put a mechanical watch in the same housing and it would still be a premium looking watch.

It is so light and comfortable that you will not even think you are wearing it.

Fully charge first before you do anything. And remove the thin protector from the back and front of the 360.

Some pics!! I grabbed a Pebble steel watchband from BB for $5, took a couple of minutes to install. Moto cautions against this as they say their $80 watchband is specially made to not block wireless signals, but so far I've not noticed a degradation in Bluetooth range.

The pebble band is a bit too wimpy for my taste, but it will do in a pinch. I plan on getting a beefier stainless steel band for it in the future.

That actually looks nice. Not bad at all.
