I've been using a moto x 2014 on verizon for about a week now--still own ip6. The device is very nice and lollipop is pretty amazing--refreshing changes. Battery life gets me through the day, but is not nearly as good as my ip6. Camera is pretty mediocre though I knew that going in. Lollipop needs an update and has a lot of stutters in general, but at times it feels every bit as fluid as iOS. It would be pretty easy to roll with this thing if the camera was better.

You have to make a backup of your iPhone through iTunes onto your computer first. Then from there you can find the backup and pull the text messages from the backup. You will need another program to read that backup file though, just do a search to find the program. You won't be able to transfer any MMS'es though.

Moto migrate may be able to do it too, not sure though as I haven't tried it.

this worked...

http://blog.laptopmag.com/how-to-transfer-iphone-text-messages-to-android

its pretty much what you said above, just had to download an app. took about 15 mins to transfer all my messages and i had over 50k. thanks!!!

now i am just trying to get used to android..lets see how it goes!

That's the difference with instant messaging compared to sms. With IM the thread is stored on an external server so when you want to access the older information it gets loaded as you scroll. With SMS, everything stays in the thread based on your settings which creates latency because it needs to load the entire thread everytime you access it.

Can someone compare the battery life of the Moto X to their previous Android phones and/or to an iPhone 5s? I haven't used an Android phone in over a year. Reviews seem to state that that battery for the Moto X isn't that great with GSMArena rating it for 48 hours. Looking at MacRumor User's battery life, that screen on time is pretty solid for a day's use. Also, is anyone using the Turbo charger? I'm still weighing the pros/cons between the Moto X and Nexus 6.

Battery life is definitely comparable to other android handsets I had over last number of months. It matches easily the HTC M8 & Galaxy S5, and a lot better than my Galaxy Alpha.

IPhone wise, it's a tad better than the 5s & 6 battery but not as good as the iPhone 6 plus.

You'd certainly get a good day with it, and with light use a couple. However I simply put mine on the charger each night and take it off in the morning.

Most days using my normal routine I end with battery still around 60% left, but I still put it on charge regardless - though I guess I could have gone another day.

I use an iPad charger and it charges the Moto x super quick (like 90 mins from totally flat to fully charged).

Just got a bamboo Moto X yesterday (bought it off a friend for $300) and I'm loving it! It's an AT&T model (unlocked thankfully), so it's torture waiting for the Lollipop update, but this phone is SOLID.

Didn't you have a Nexus 6 at some point?

Yeah. I wasn't a fan of it really. It had none of the awesome Moto features and it was just a bit too big. And for the size of the thing the battery wasn't as good as you would expect. Now I'm SIM swapping between the Moto and iPhone 6 Plus (which even though it's nearly as big as the N6 it has the battery life and camera to back it up).

Is there any roms out there that improve moto x battery?

I'm seriously considering of canceling my N6 order to get a moto x but the battery on the x2 is concerning.

Check my battery stats earlier, I'm on lollipop standard and get a full day and around 4-5 hours screen on time.

MRU, did you ever get to try the N6? If so, what were your thoughts?

It's still not actually released here in Ireland yet ... Google may be based here, but we can't buy one here, only nexus 5 on Play Store... :(. So honestly, no I haven't tried it.

The N6 flat out isn't worth my money and I'm not cheap, I got plenty of toys. :)

Mine is just as smooth as my iPhone 6, what stutters are you talking about?

I made a post about it, but I guess I'll write it here too. Motorola is having their Valentine's Day sale starting on 02/02. On 02/02, you have to sign up like Cyber Monday, and you get $140 off phones, or $50 off Moto 360. From 02/03 - 02/14, you will get $100 off the phone or $30 off Moto 360.

I'm going to pick up a 64GB X.

I'm considering picking up a moto X, I know the camera isn't the greatest but are you guys finding your able to still get some good shots with it? Are you getting more good shots or mediocre shots on average?

Yep, see my pictures earlier in thread. I'm impressed but would suggest you go for 32 or 64gb

I'm shuffling audio a lot on my 16gb and I don't have a lot of audio / albums downloaded at that.

Crap, I just purchased a 16GB... I don't keep a lot of pics/apps on my devices so I'm probably going to be ok.

Yeah I have around 4gb free - but I rather delete stuff than go lower than that - it's probably me being a bit mad too.

Otherwise it's a fab device and far more aesthetically pleasing in hand than you would think from the photos. I have fallen in love with mine a little :)

MRU, does the Moto X suffer from the warm (temp) displays? What I mean by that is it almost seems a bit yellowish when white backgrounds are present.

Like I mentioned in the N6 thread, my device is suffering from it and IMO, it sucks. Even compared to my iP6+, it's night and day when it comes to temps.

yes when comparing a white background directly to my iPhone 6+ it does appear yellow tinted on the Moto X, and also must admit it's way too oversaturated for my tastes in general. It also seems to be boosting some colours more than others meaning I sometimes see jagged gradients on some wallpapers/images.

When I look at it in isolation I don't notice it so much, (the yellow white point colour calibration) but when comparing directly it is noticeable. The only way to get rid of it would be by turning on full brightness - as soon as it drops from full brightness the yellow tint occurs.

Thats just what Amoled does. Over saturation is something that I've gotten used to while using Samsung devices.

Yep, it is good bang for buck. I will not be selling mine anytime soon and since I am not a camera guy, nothing really for me not to like. For color saturation I have seen worse as well.

There are worse smartphones out there ergonomics wise for this screen size also.

At least on Samsung devices you have the option to dial it back and turn off that post by using 'basic' mode I display settings. The Moto X would greatly benefit from similar. That being said I still like my moto
