I followed the guide by handheldgames and got already stuck at the very first part: downloading the necessary tools. The ROMTool and DXEInject seem to be removed from dosdude1's site. Does anybody know why and are there any backup links available?

You don't need to inject anymore. Just upgrade to BootROM 140.0.0.0.0.

Apple started with native support with Mojave 10.14.1DP3: MP5,1: Mojave 10.14.1 DP3 BootROM 140.0.0.0.0 has native NVMe support!!!

Read here too MP5,1: What you have to do to upgrade to Mojave.

I have a MacPro 3.1, so I do not think that will apply for my system. And according to dosdude1's site, my AMD7950 is not supported in 10.14 because of using SSE4.2 instructions in the GPU driver.

Ah, ok. You can get it from Internet Archive, read here #1783

I updated my 4,1>5,1 a few months ago using the ROM injection and everything has been working great using a 970Pro/AngelBird combination.

This weekend, inspired by the BootROM 140.0.0.0 news I elected to update to Mojave - possibly a mistake as I run a flashed Nvidia GTX780.

The Mojave installer started ok and took me through the BootROM update. After the update however, the machine could not find a boot drive. Installing a spare High Sierra SATA drive I now see that:
- the 970Pro remains on High Sierra - I'm unsurprised as I guess the Mojave installer still has work to do
- the boot ROM version is now 138.0.0.0.0 - I'm sure this is earlier than where I was with the ROM injection.

My main concern is getting back to a bootable 970Pro - I am less concerned about updating that drive to Mojave.

Would appreciate some guidance to my best course of action.

Thanks, BD.

You need to reinject the NVMe EFI module every time Apple updates your BootROM, until you get 140.0.0.0.0 that have native NVMe support.

All clear - thank you.

I will go searching for the answer however from 138.0.0.0 can one directly head to 140.0.0.0? I also am picking up the inference from the forums that EFI boot windows is a bad thing once at 140.0.0.0.

If you have any BootROM, multiple Microsoft EFI signing certificates is a bad sign. Just one is normal.

Hi!

Just bought Kingston A1000 NVMe ssd.
I have macpro 5.1 and macpro 2009, with firmware updated to 5.1
macOS 10.13.6 on both

In 3 PCIe slots this drive have a speed for both write/reading only 382mb/sec (even in 16x slot) and only in one slot it have 743mb/sec (but not 1300!!) This result same on 2 computers, I have tested different adapters m.2-PCIe with same result. (also I have tested with adapters from AHCI kingston predator ssd, who have 1300mb/sec on my computer)

Any ideas? can kext modifyin magic be better then native Hi Sierra support for NVMe?
may be cause of slow speed is not fresh firmware of ssd?

If I load in windows 8.1, windows see this drive, it appears as a volume. But Kingston SSD Manager v1.1.1.5 program not see it. It see AHCI drives, but not see this NVMe - any ideas?

You have to upgrade your BootROM to Mojave 10.14.1DP3 140.0.0.0.0. It's the only that have native NVMe support and 5GT/s. If you don't know how to do it, I can PM you instructions.

Read this two first posts:

BTW, the first version of A1000 NVMe SSD is slow as a SATA one. Take a picture of the label and I can tell if is the first revision.

Yes, it would be great!
Is it possible to update only ROM, but not install Mojave and still on HiSierra?

Yes. You will need to make a new custom firmware anytime there’s an update to the system firmware.

As long as it installs BootRom 140.0.0.0.0 you are good to go. Apple now officially supports NVME booting on this firmware.

Incorrect information.

The BootROM (firmware) version come with 10.14.1 full installer is 140.0.0.0.0.

This firmware makes the cMP can boot from NVMe natively.

So, no more customised firmware required, and you will NOT lost the option to boot from NVMe.

100% wrong.

He asked about 10.14.1 firmware update, that's for 140.0.0.0.0, therefore, no customised firmware required for NVMe boot.

Hi mate, what did you do?

I feel like an idiot but every-time I try to open ROMTool it asks for the info.plist PASSWORD?

Can anyone please assist?
