I appears the new firmware MP51.0087.B00 also does not include an NVMe driver. I opened it with UEFITool and searched for NVMe and nothing came up.

Why would you say that? There have been two FW updates now with HS.

Lou

I’m not at home so I can’t confirm it, but it seems like you are right on target (as usual).

Someone posted that this HS update contains another firmware update.

EDIT:
Returned home, installed update, new firmware confirmed

Good Call Lou

Somehow, the method from #13 didn't work for me. I tried both inserting the ffs after the last dxe in the rom at 0xca80 and after the last search result at 0x793 but after flashing using ROMtool, I don't see the 4k NVMe SSD (ADATA SX8200NP)
offered by the boot manager. I tried both CCCing my working install and the High Sierra installer.

What am I doing wrong?

EDIT: I also tried the DXEinject method from #175, still no NVMe SSD in the boot manager. :-(

Clover and rEFInd have there own Console drivers, but there is something we are missing because I know that at least one person has gotten the GOP driver to work on a MacPro3,1.

I'll be ordering a 3,1 pretty soon, and I'll find a way to get to the bottom of this issue. With any luck we can get GOP working on the 3,1/4,1/5,1.

There Darth one doesn't often completely fail to get video related things working, I just don't have the hardware.
also, emulated bios is capable of displaying « no boitable drive message » on non supported GPU, i could experience that when i give the wrong windows boot drive in bless, even removing all drives.

So,will the DXE injection NVME boot hack work with MP51.0087.B00 bootROM ?

I'm downloading the full installer now ( .. another 3 hours 25 mins on ADSL ).

Going to install 10.13.5 to a spare spinner HDD then CCC clone to my 960 EVO.

Should I hold off from doing the DXE injection to the new MP51.0087.B00 bootROM?

Terrifying.

That confirms it for me. . Combos ONLY !

zozomester

Have you tried flashing the new bootROM with the DXE ffs that mikeboss used to make your first working bootROM ?

We have dosdude1's DXEinject & ROMTool tools now.

Yes,how can i go back one previous firmware?
it may not be that DXEinject is not good for the new version?

I'm not sure about this - ask someone here but . . couldn't you re-inject the DXE ffs into the new bootROM ( download it first ) ?

A PRAM reset wouldn't hurt either.

Also, did you upgrade with the full 5gb installer or a Combo or from the app Store ?

I download Installer from App store....

@handheldgames
Thanks for the very fine "step-by-step" tutorial. I have read through it and have some comments;

1. Should One clone the HD to the NVMe-blade? Or do One go for the install a new High Sierra? You get NVMe support but do you recommend that One do a clean install. What will happen with the next update [where there is no NVMe-support]?Should I keep one HD for update?
2. In the beginning there should be a disclaimer like "This tutorial is for educational purpose only and proceed at your on risk, bla, bla and the author takes no reponsibility for any damage....".
3. Your name is on the tutorial. I would remove that and use "Handheldgames©"

Very nice tutorial, I have downloaded it and will read though it.

Best regards

/Per

Question:

I read only Pcie AHCI M key worked as boot up to now.

Will this work with both m.2 NVMe M key and m.2 sata M & B key?

in the case it will, wich pcie card handling 2 m.2 is recognized on cMP?

Only PCIe based cards work so ahci and nvme. Msata uses different signals which actually connect to a sata port, which isn’t the case here.

10.13.5 changes from eclecticlight.co webpage
https://eclecticlight.co/2018/06/01/whats-in-the-high-sierra-10-13-5-update/

==========================================
Other significant updates include:

  • /Library/WebServer has been extensively updated
  • /System/Library/Accessibility
  • /System/Library/Accounts
  • ManagedClient
  • Photo Library Migration Utility
  • most, if not all, kernel extensions have been replaced
  • many public and private frameworks have been updated
  • many tools in usr/bin and /usr/sbin have been updated
  • eficheck, and its Allow List has been substantially updated to reflect EFI firmware updates.

Perhaps that last item could do with some looking at.
===========================================

Today's news clinched it for me. I'm going to completely skip the 10.13.5 update.

Presumably, 10.13.6 will be the last release. Then we will have something to work on without
having to worry about further High Sierra bootROM upgrades.

I have NVMe M.2 booting quite nicely in a Fusion drive setup in Sierra 10.12.6 which does everything
I need for my day to day work.

Gilles, dosdude1 etc. will surely come up with a new way to inject DXE into 10.13.5.

I truly feel for zozmester but at least his install might serve as a test bed for Gilles to try out solutions

Yes, unfortunately, the new firmware does not work with the Gillies hack....
