On intel it is similar usage. I'm not sure it will ever change until electron is reworked. The performance problems with Teams on a mac have been reported for the last 3 years. Initially on User Voice and then moved across to the feedback portal when microsoft stopped using Uservoice which reset the date the issue started.

MS needs to move off Electron and ship native apps like they do with the core office suite

How do you get on the beta release channel?
Check this tab (URLs for the latest IT Admins Preview (R1.5 or BETA) build of Microsoft Teams) in https://raw.githubusercontent.com/ItzLevvie/MicrosoftTeams-msinternal/master/defconfig2

Agree! Office runs quite well on Apple Silicon since day 1 of their transition. Same goes for Outlook which is part of the office suite anyway.

Does anyone know how to resolve the camera issue on the PWA? I’ve installed Teams as an Edge app but it’s just showing a black box when I’m on camera.

@nick9191 turn off your backgrounds. Unfortunately there is a bug with Teams Web in that the background privacy results in the picture being black. Unfortunately microsoft appear to say its a Chrome issue but i've tried rolling Edge back by 12 months and the problem remains. The problem is common on all chromium browsers. Firefox is perfect however for outgoing video with the back ground enabled but unfortunately it has no incoming video. Techcommunity item. No response from Microsoft so i guess PWA remains broken with back grounds.

No one can see my web cam since about 2 weeks ago. Multiple Macs both intel and apple silicon. Multiple macos. Its just teams. Maybe in a year or so Microsoft may fix it. I'm just going on the track record for Mac fixes. Either Mac market or privacy is not a driver for the app.

Teams has a quarter of a BILLION active users... Teams has not had a video outage for 2 weeks for all its Mac users. I just finished a days worth of meetings with mostly Mac users on M1 and Intel machines and we all had cameras on without issue, and I was on the M1 preview build

It's the version you are using for sure. I have the square webcam but people can see me, not the other way around which I mean I can't see myself lol.

Yep pretty much.

I run the arm version of edge - Version 103.0.1264.51 (Official build) (arm64). I run all of the M365 apps in the browser. No problems as yet. Teams even works fine whilst using GlobalProtect VPN, and I have heard of connectivity issues using VPN with Teams. Teams in edge has even been stable during a 5 day Microsoft training course. Which was browser intensive due to lots of open azure tabs.

@hughesdj Well thats interesting. I have 3 macs. 2017 Intel, 2020 M1, 2022 M1 Max and all have problems if you have any backgrounds enabled in meetings. If you have background enabled then your video will be black. You can occassionally get it back by going to chat or your clandar and then remaimiing the window. Did your training and ARM use have backgrounds enabled for your privacy? I'll try my Pi today and see if it works.

Update: tried my Pi4 with the default chrome browser. On my pi teams web app does not provide any options for having any backgrounds applied. Can you please confirm that you have this option on your arm installations that you were using? Thanks.

Teams works fine for me and I'm on a Mac M1. I have more issues with the intel version LOL.

I tried Teams web app on a 2015 Mac air running an old version of Edge and 10.14.6. Exhibits the same video black ground when running with a background. seems unrealted to Mac hardware, MacOS and edge versions.

Is it expected that MS Teams Audio Device driver installed together with the Teams client is still Intel only?

The PWA Teams web app video problem was almost in a fixed state yesterday. Just joing with back ground effects woud be black but after a minimize and maximize it was working fine. Late this afternoon it changed back to being broken again. Never ending saga with Teams PWA.
