It would be great if Microsoft would finally add the osx 64 and arm64 into the Teams preview. I am on the preview channel and the manually installed (newer) arm64 package gets replaced with the preview channel at least every week, which brings back the INTEL code...

I've got my MBA since february and i refuse to install rosetta :p
I'm working with teams through browser till the universal app comes.
I've been trying the latest builds but they all require rosetta 2 till now.

LOL I have tried the same, but can't find alternative to Citrix Workspace which I need for work!

Wish I had the option to not install it.
But you have that option. Just delete the MSTeamsAudioDevice.Driver (see here: delete core audio) and reinstall or update the latest exploration build (choose the correct "osx-x64 + osx-arm64" build) and de-select "Upgrade Teams Audio"!
Some builds still have audio/video issues (IMHO not related to the driver) so stick with a build that works for you. I am using teams every day without the Intel audio driver and not a single Rosetta process on my M1.
If you use other MS products and MS AutoUpdate make sure that you don't auto-update Teams. If you do by accident the driver will come back and you have to this again.

Perhaps MS Teams is not the only Intel app he needs to run. For example Citrix also requires Rosetta.

I replied to southerndoc who wanted an option to not use the Intel driver with Teams. The Citrix issue is from another post and not part of the original discussion about Teams.

I try and avoid using Team and Microsoft desktop apps where possible. I follow this route, especially when using windows machines but also for M1 Macs.

southerndoc stated earlier in this thread that he runs Citrix on an M1 Mac.

RDP hasn't been a problem for me for the last… 15 years? Support is pretty abysmal (slow) but I am able to complete all of my work tasks given any particular day.

Edit: The different between 'has' and 'hasn't' is pretty important!

Yea, unfortunately, I have to run a production version of Teams (no beta/EA versions/tech previews) as well as Citrix. I know Citrix Workspace has a tech preview that's Universal, but I cannot run it due to my healthcare system's restrictions.

So not installing Rosetta is simply not an option for me. Hopefully 2022 will be the year that everything I use gets away from Intel.

Out of interest, how does the Citrix environment handle the fairly demanding requirements of audio/video/screen sharing/latency/etc? I have several customers that make use of remote working environments, but can't afford the CPU overhead from telephony platforms such as Teams.

I honestly can't comment on that. I only use it to access Epic for my healthcare system.

How is this possible if the Teams installer requires Rosetta to be installed first? I see no way to remove the dependency from the pkg file.

same. I've not installed Rosetta2 on my M1 MBA. Looking to avoid all apps that require it.
Battery life and performance have been off the chart amazing. Want to avoid any unnecessary impact. Chrome version of Teams has been sufficient but lacking all the features.

Nice.

I've done the same in Studio Max base and Wifey's new Air M1 8/256.

I still keep my trusty old 2020 i5 10th gen 13" MBP running Catalina around for some older but still valid licensed apps (Office 2016, LR 6.14 and a few others).

I wish! What's App and FB Messenger are the two apps still not supporting Universal app for Apple Silicon. What's App native app allows you to make calls from your Mac which is super useful on a day to day basis for me.

Yeah having What's App consuming 2GB of memory is a daily thing for me lol.

We know they are working on it WhatsApp is working on a desktop app for macOS | WABetaInfo but no info of a release date yet.

Hey,

the Apple Silicon build worked pretty well for me but with 1.5.00.18115. I lost audio completely. In settings I can not even pic a mic, audio or camera device. I tried to reinstall Teams. Deleted the app and /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/HAL/MSTeamsAudioDevice.driver ~/Library/Preferences/*com.microsoft.teams* ~/Library/Cache/*com.microsoft.teams* but no dice :-/ I restarted the mac before reinstallation, too.

Teams says I can not make calls and that I should restart the app.

you could just roll back to the older Teams version. if it's the audio driver for screen sharing that's broken . rolling back to an older Teams with ARM64 build should fix it. (when installing make sure to install the audio driver for Teams again)

I'm still using this one which works fine (https://statics.teams.cdn.office.net/production-osx/1.5.00.17501/Teams_osx.pkg) . Just make sure that when installing it, install both the Teams and Audio Driver to replace everything that's broken on yours

Same here.....wasn't sure if it's a combination of M1 and MacOS 13....but I had to go back to the Intel version of Teams.
Typical M$
