My Touch Bar does not control the app anymore in Catalina, unless the app is in the foreground. In the old iTunes you could control iTunes when other apps were in the foreground.

That feedback link seems to be for the Apple Music service, not for the app.

There were options that led me to believe it would be read by the software team.

I’m returning my MBP 16“ and sticking with my Mojave laptop until they sort this out. I use iTunes too much to be losing some of the best UI features, like viewing albums inline and being able to scroll on to other albums without clicking on the world’s smallest back button. Also, Remote.app.

I know that there are still quirky bugs with the Music app, but does anyone know if migrating from iTunes to Music is more reliable now in the latest beta? I am still holding off and still have my music library on a Mac running iTunes/Mojave.

I'd rather migrate once most of the issues are resolved (missing artwork, playlist order, unassociated songs within playlists, etc). My music library is around 500GB with hundreds of playlists that include hand selected and applied artwork, so I don't want to lose anything during the process, which will probably be a very long one.

A quick question if anyone has the same issue. I've left the "Add songs/albums to library when added to playlist" (or something like that, I have everything in Finnish..) unchecked on the phone and on the Mac, and yet everything I put on playlists is added to the library view on my Mac. I would prefer if this didn't happen.

Is there something I'm missing, or is this how it's supposed to work?

Anyone having the problem where you double click a track to play on an album but the selected track doesn’t play. It plays the first track of the album instead.

pretty frustrating

Music app has been a disaster. Having a weird issue hoping someone knows how to resolve.

Basically I seem to have 'ghost' playlists which are in the new .music database but not in the music app. I can't delete these ghost playlist but they sync to my iphone and are detected by any 3rd party application which looks at music playlists which they then sync to also.

Because they arent in the music app I cant delete them....and seems to be no editor so i could view the .music database. I deleted all previous itl files I could find.

Anyone seen this before? thanks a lot

I am extremely frustrated, 10.15.2 has still not solved this. Deleted all the Music and Itunes files following Erik troubleshooter guide from page 1 and these ghost playlists still will not disappear and copy to all apps using the music database and my non-apple music players. This is insane, will be forced to do a complete reinstall at this rate.

Is there any app which I could use to edit the music database? doing a clean install is really the last thing I need right now

The iPhone Remote app now works again with the 10.15.2 update, though it doesn't seem to recognize music libraries automatically through Home Sharing and instead needs them to be added via "Add an iTunes [sic] Library".

Thanks. Instructions to do so was just added to the wiki as you posted this ;)

I encountered this problem too, only at Apple Music pages.

I've been experiencing a similar issue since I installed 10.15.2: if I delete a song from an album the other tracks won't start when I double click on them. I have to close and then reopen the album view in order to do so.
This Music app feels more clunky than iTunes ever was...

edit: upon further testing it appears that editing the metadata from ANY song in album view prevent you from double click the other tracks after that!

1.0.2.37 - Album retains position, but playlists do not.
Unfortunately it doesn't even work 100% of the time for albums – at least if you have lots of them (~4000 in my case). Positions in the bottom quarter of the scroll view aren't restored correctly for me.

Bring back iTunes, Apple.

edit: There's apparently a hard limit on how far the Music app will be able to scroll down (or remember its position) in a very tall view. It can help to make the window wider to force it to display 5 columns instead of 4 and thereby reduce its height. Interesting...

Not working here. I can see my music library on the ipad. But I cannot play any song. Strange.

Is anyone else here registered at Apple Music for Artists? I'm curating a public playlist on my artist account but as of recently it just won't show up under "Playlists". That means I can only edit it on my iPhone which is very inconvenient.

I also have a bug where there are duplicate albums and artists. For example if I click on Artists it shows Amy Winehouse two times. The first one contains only track 7, the second one contains the whole album including track 7. If I click on Songs and activate the column view it shows only one Amy Winehouse. If I filter my songs by that name it shows me that track 7 is there two times. If I delete one of them it also deletes the second one. I can then add it again and it will show up normal.
It wouldn't be such a big deal if it only happened to one artist but I have this problem with maybe half of my library..

I mean, this is just absurd. This is basic UX. I hate to be this guy, but Apple of old would never let this even ship.

One, among many issues, I'm having with Catlina 10.15.2/Music Version 1.0.2.37 is that Custom Lyrics added under Catlina 10.15.2/Music Version 1.0.2.37 won't hold. I have tried copy/paste and typing directly into Lyrics Field with Custom Lyrics checked. Previously entered Custom Lyrics are there and holding. If I add to pre-existing Custom Lyrics, the addition stays with what was previously entered.

W-E-I-R-D!

Since the demise of iTunes, I don't seem to be able to simultaneously have my albums sorted alphabetically by artist in Album view and sorted by year within each artist in Artist view. This seems very strange, as I'd think it would be a common preference and it was not a problem before.
