Is it right to assume big sur music has even more bugs then Catalina music?

wondering if it makes no difference to upgrade (seems to me most the bugs are in Catalina music app) or there is even more bugs now in the latest Big Sur build? (which will likely be the same one released tomorrow.....)

Side note: Its a real shame that this is what Apple is now. I was a teenager when I moved over to MacOs and bought my first macbook because Vista was filled to the brim with all sorts of bugs. A little over a decade later and Apple have the same lackadaisical attitude to software releases as Microsoft did then.

Wherever my feet take me…
One feature I miss is joining tracks when importing CDs. I have a bunch of CDs where some songs are broken into multiple tracks. Kinda sucks to hear a song begin/end abruptly in the middle. Example: I have "The Wizard of Oz" soundtrack on CD. The whole Welcome to Oz song is broken down by each individual group (Lollipop League, coroner, etc.)

1) I know how hard can that be to fix? Art Work On / Off Song View - It used to work fine

2 Other Pet Peeves still not fixed - 2) "Show filter field" (Alt + CMD+F) does not persist and 3) Art Work is buggy - shows in one place but does not display in other areas ?

I have submitted these to feedback assistant and they show as "Recent Similar Reports: None" :(

I think I will start resubmitting them ever new beta as an update to previous submissions.

Another Screen shot - Music app v1.1.0.282 - Big Sur Beta 11.0.1

Hey, what software do you use for managing fans?

Is there a way to change the red color that highlights songs. I find it too bright and obtrusive.

Siri is pretty stupid on the Mac. If I tell her to play "Florence and the Machine" she instead plays "Light and Magic" by Ladytron. If I tell her to play "Florence plus the Machine" she gets it right.

Siri also will NOT play any tunes from Apple Music, ONLY my library. This works fine on my iPhone XR. Is this a bug, an oversight, or a limitation of Siri on Big Sur?

The battery status in the menu bar on my MacBook Air no longer shows the numerical percentage and I can't find an option to turn it back on.

My few quick questions are:
  1. Is the song duration/remaining time still hidden unless you mouse over the progress bar?
  2. Can anyone on a 1440p+ display take the app full screen, are there still huge margins of unused space?
  3. I'm sure they are, but can someone just confirm that star ratings are still there for my sanity?
You can still see ratings in the Song list, but there seems to be no way to set the rating of the currently playing song

Here we go. The setting is hard to find since it's not part of the "battery preferences" that pop up when you click on the battery in the menu bar.

This isn't working for me. I could see it yesterday, but now it's gone. 😡

I'm disappointed to see Big Sur's music app still struggles with scrolling albums. I have 486 albums and scrolling through them is very laggy with placeholder squares until artwork loads. If this only occurred on first launch or first scroll through I'd understand, but I can scroll to the bottom of my library and then scroll back up and it's like it only keeps the current view of the library in memory.

Good morning!

I plan on doing a clean install of Big Sur in the next few weeks, but I fear that it might screw my Music Library up (Been having it since 2008). How can I transfer my library to a clean install of Big Sur? This is how my music media libraries look like (I have the iTunes Media and other one called Music):

I would like to do it correctly and get rid of all of those "legacy" files from iTunes days.

Thanks and have a good Sunday!

I've been experiencing a lot of horrible crackling in my Music since I upgraded my iMac to Big sur, I can't really explain why as it seems to be totally random. Sometimes it crackles, sometimes it does not. When it does I usually have to restart for it to fully go away. My files are good, same ones I've had for 15 years.

I would assume the process is similar to my clean install of Catalina. After the install, I copied my iTunes library into the same folder location as it was on my previous machine (the default by earlier versions of macOS). Upon launch, the Catalina Music app recognized the library and "converted" it Music. Alternatively, you could create a new library on your fresh install and then use the option to import the iTunes Music Library.xml (or just double click it in the Finder) and the Music.app should recognize it. The only caveat is that you actual music files need to be in the exact same place as where they were when that XML file was made or it won't be able to locate them.

So I only need to transfer the iTunes Media folder? What is the Music folder for then?

I hoped there will be a method so I can't get rid of all the old .xml files from iTunes.
