It’s a very nuanced technical detail most users did not notice. Some people complained here on MR and even emailed Apple executives directly about this. It was because the Music app was still using WebKit instead of using native code and API’s.

Apps like Spotify would use exclusive mode or smartly identify which bit stream was playing. Music app always pointed to the MIDI system configuration, which is a big no.
And it still does, doesn't it?

ugh having so many issues with metatags reverting

change artist name genre, etc. sit down next morning, half of the songs on multiple albums just revert back to stock
I expect it's the same issue as playlists reverting! I downloaded iTunes through retroactive and edit my metadata and playlists through that now, which then sync to Music which has my entire library actually downloaded. Works much better and reliably!

I'm still suffering from sync issues. Any changes to metadata I make on my music.app won't sync to iPhone. Love the speediness of the new app but this syncing issue has got to get fixed.

Did anyone else notice that some playlist are weirdly divided? This is the Years & Years essentials playlist. I also noticed this in the HBO euphoria playlist.

Tried fixing my sync issues (on macos, only macos, only my primary library, im not syncing between devices)

after the changes i keep making reverting CONSTANTLY and at random (some stay), I tried re and re-authorizing my account so it would re-sync

aaaaaaand a whole ton of my 5 star ratings just got nuked. Not sure if its a date cut off or what, but the 5 albums I was reviewing today now all have 0 ratings (except the latest 2, which have a couple each). Even my Plays got nuked lol

and im still suffering with the name changing issue. For example, kept trying the old trick to rename to a different name, then change them all back. Well I'm getting this, infinite repeats:

I just installed iTunes on Windows 10 so I could update a 'heart' rating that wouldn't disappear on Music on MacOS.

Music has hit a new low.

edit: Amazingly, things are syncing now that I'm running both apps at the same time. Knock on wood. This is the stupidest solution to get things unjammed, but if it works it works...

edit2: god damnit Apple deleted all my ratings for Rick James, son of a...

edit3: Whatever I did was not a full fix, though it did lock in the stuff from that day. Back to rating things and having them disappear hours later again. Still dual running Music and iTunes. This is hell.

This kind of thing makes me glad I don't use most of these features in Music.

If all of these features were working properly I still wouldn't say it's a good app. Having a single path of navigation drives me nuts…and it's not even a decent version of single path navigation.

Since updated to 12.2 Dolby Atmos tracks are louder than normal tracks in the music app (or normal tracks are more quiet). When I pause a normal (non Atmos track) and continue playback it has normal volume. After a few seconds it turns down the volume. Anyone else?

1.2.3.36 here:
- Text on selection is still black in most views, however, sometimes it's white. I think it's clear it's a bug that has to be fixed and the text has to be white when there's a selection/hover with the dark-red background.
- There are still issues with the status of the songs - two songs in the table view show the currently playing animation over the artwork.
- I had an occasion where the song was another one than the one that was showing in the now playing section - the metadata was from the previous song, only the progress bar was updated.

- I don't see anything changed from 1.2.2.40, however, it seems that Dolby Atmos tracks start immediately. Before, there was a few seconds delay and the stereo mix was playing first. I am not sure if it was due to the ongoing iCloud issues back then, or if it was a bug with the Music app.
Been experiencing constant Music and Safari crashes in the past few days.

Also this...

What's the point of allowing system colors to change the app's colors, but it leaves the side bar default pink-red?

I've noticed that the play counters are not updating. Anyone else?

might be related to the library stuff i was having issues with: ratings disappear, play counts roll back, meta data edits get undone, deleted albums re-appear, etc.

is this a beta issue only? stuff uploaded to the server getting overwritten by older entries?

Not only in betas apparently, I am using the 12.2 release. I am now totally sure that Music application is still a beta quality application. Normally, such bugs should never make it to a release build.

Boy, the Mini Player repositioning logic is so broken. It worked fine in iTunes.

Yeah, I've noticed that as well. The new Music App should be completely rewritten.

Also when you click on an album and it opens on a new page? And then you have to click that small arrow back to return to the library? Such a weird choice. It takes so much time to look through the albums.

Why not make it like it was before (just googled the screenshots):

Or even way before:

It would make it so much faster to look through your albums.

Yes, it's reproducible. I turned off the setting about volume level equalisation (or whatever the translation for that would be), and it's okay now.

The search function also stops working or starts behaving erratically after using it for a bit. You could barely even get through a product demo with this POS. None of the other bugs seem to get fixed either.

The ratings/tag issue still driving me nuts. Saw a song's rating and another song's artist change (revert to default) before my eyes, then when i changed the genre on an artist (edit all their albums at once) i saw the rest of the ratings just reset

gonna go postal, dont **** with my meta data

This has been an issue for years! This is why I don't trust the Apple Music Replay and I'm also thinking sometimes if they're paying artists for each stream, if the counter doesn't update properly... Like I feel this is a much bigger issue than just something on the UI for the end-user.

It does this in the Podcasts & TV app as well (where the sidebar icons remain purple & blue respectively). Also the Mac App Store always has blue icons regardless of setting.

It's a minor issue but it's mildly annoying as it doesn't look consistent between apps.
