Is Music.app any buggier in Monterey 12.2 compared to the version in 12.1? When I heard the version in 12.2 is a complete rewrite, I worried there will be more bugs so I haven't upgraded to 12.2 yet, I'm still running 12.1 (that version has lots of bugs already).

only issue i've encountered is the library sync problems i've written about here

i find the rest not any buggier. Definitely smoother with a working search now, but other bugs from 12.1 remain.

Are the sync problems fixed in 12.3 beta?

I’m so tired of it at this stage I’m even hoping it might be fixed in 12.2.1.

Music app in macOS 12.2.1 has the same build number as in 12.2, so I doubt.

Some issues (not related to the sync problems) seems to have been resolved in the Music app on macOS 12.3 Beta 2, but others have been introduced... basically, currently the app is still beyond crap.

About the sync issues:

There is currently a major bug pertaining Icloud Music Library where albums added to the library from the AM catalogue or trough locally ripped files are randomly split, and any metadata changes and deleted content from the library are reverted back after a few hours automatically, which renders Icloud Music Library unusable (both for Apple Music and Itunes Match).

According to Apple (I have a case open with them about this), its a server side issue that affects Catalina, Big Sur, and Monterey. Possibly Windows (Itunes), too.

It started out of nowhere a few weeks ago. Still broken.

This should be classify as a high prority bug at Apple and get fixed ASAP, is not a minor thing. As I said, it renders Icloud Music Library completely unusable.

Is it just me or opening a radio station from a URL in the Music app does not work on macOS 12.2? I tried different ones, such as https://t.co/r53KIYtQPU, and they work perfectly on Big Sur (using the “Open in Music” button), but they do nothing on my mini with 12.2. The Music app opens but the station is not loaded.

Has anybody experienced the same issue?

It doesn't work for me in 12.2.1 using that link you provided. The Music app window is brought to the front, but nothing happens.

However, it works on other sites, like this one: https://www.wrek.org/crush/ (click on 128kbps link).

There may be some browser/OS/extension security thing going on with the link you provided.

If I open music and choose "Radio" and then Apple Music 1, that works.

Thanks for testing! The link got shortened, but I don’t think it matters. Here is the full one. It points to Beats 1, works for me on iOS and Big Sur but not on Monterey. https://itunes.apple.com/us/station/listen-in-apple-music/idra.978194965
Maybe it only applies to Apple Music stations? I used this with AppleScript.

That link doesn't take me to Beats 1. In fact, Beats 1 does not even show up in a search of Music. Are you in US?

I tried in Firefox and Safari.

Edit: maybe I should add; I'm not a Music subscriber, and no longer an AppleTV subscriber, and I didn't try to sign in on Safari. I am however signed in to Music on my Mac.

Yes, I'm an Apple Music subscriber and I have this issues with Apple Music radios. I submitted a bug report (FB9900820).

anyone try 12.3 Beta 3?

edit: okay so upgraded from 1.2.3.47 to *.53

Noticed more sync issues, mostly albums i deleted coming back, but hvent noticed stuff i've added remove or meta tags change....yet (so i'm coping that its merging the most recent data together rather than rolling back)

Seriously Apple can you just put the back button on the toolbar and loose that silly empty bar, a forward button would be nice as well!

Okay so sync issues aren't completely hammered out but are getting better.

I checked out iTunes since before it was working better, and my new albums all were in the 'recent albums'. One was missing album art, so I added it on MacOS Music and seconds later it showed up on iTunes fine.

All my ratings I added, or changes I made today were recent in iTunes

only issue I'm seeing is this one album, which was an upload (non match), is showing in iTunes still despite my deleting it from Music hours ago. Restarting Music caused it to re-appear. This is technically "iCloud" data (not Music library) so maybe that's why it was the outlier.

edit: so upon deleting the album again from Music, it now disappeared from iTunes. So far, at this moment, everything is syncing fine.

Maybe they are worried people might confuse the buttons with the back / forward playback buttons.

Furthermore, button placement over there would mean they should work app-wise (for example, when browsing local library, etc.). Otherwise, it is clear that the back button is specific for the listen now / browse tabs content.

Also others might mock it for the app looking like a web browser.

Don't get me wrong, the current implementation is horrendous, but I can see how this is a tough thing to get right.

Playlists are starting to sync better. But updates to metadata of uploaded songs is still not working.

I think I'm suddenly experiencing sync issues mentioned in this thread. Have had no problems until more recently while organizing my music library... can't pinpoint exactly when but I think sometime in the last couple months.

Anything that is deleted from the Music app on my Mac, does not delete from my iPad or iPhone and will revert back on the Mac next time the app is launched. I've found I can delete playlists and songs from my iOS device and then delete the "removed" track from my Mac which seems to stick.

The problem I'm having now is playlist folders. I can't seem to find a way to delete these from an iOS device, can they be deleted from the cloud or some other way to get the deletion to stick??

Ok I believe I've found a workaround for deleting playlist folders. I created a second user account on my Mac, signed into Apple Music, and deleted the playlist folders there. I checked my iOS devices and my main Mac account & they disappeared there as well. Super annoying!

Sync issues are better, it seems (less immediate and stuff i changed yesterday stayed the same overnight)

but i just had an album (non music, personal upload, non matched) just delete itself while i was playing it

so...there's that...

edit: it was because i had 2 masters of 1 album and it decided to merge them despite having different titles indiciating which was which

edit2: the big issue today is deleted albums re-appearing, or deleting, adding something with the same name, and having a conflict where it randomly overwrites stuff. NEW stuff I added days ago has meta data intact
