Why is "My Top Rated" playlist different on all my devices - MacBook Pro, Mac mini, Mac Pro, iPhone X, iPad Pro 12.9? I can't seem to figure this one out. I only rate songs on my MacOS based devices, but it does not propagate or sync to my other devices.

It’s a good job I had a backup of my Music library file, as the latest incarnation of the operating system seems to have completely wiped my Music library… ?

Just noticed yesterday any changes I make on Mac in the playlists dont stick and revert back. Have to use iOS device to make changes stick.

Saw a few users have also noticed this bug. It's bizarre how Apple is letting stuff like this slip and not even showing any urgency to fix these issues.

It´s been going on for several months now. No idea why its happening.

This is driving me nuts! In smart playlists I check the box that says "match only checked items" then five minutes, an hour, or a few hours later it's back to being unchecked. New or deleted rules disappear or reappear. I rename the playlist and it's soon back to the previous name. (Using iTunes Match but not Apple Music subscription.)

The search function also stops working or starts behaving erratically after using it for a bit. You could barely even get through a product demo with this POS. None of the other bugs seem to get fixed either.
I've found that once you open an album, search (in the sidebar) stops working. Is that the same problem you're talking about there?

I accidentally posted the following in the MacOS 11 Music thread and am moving it here for completeness:
Just had a weird bug with the latest version of Music (1.2.3.56 on OS 12.3.1): The search field in the sidebar has stopped searching. Instead of doing a search, it just lists some suggestions based on what I type and then... does nothing else.

Quitting and restarting Music fixed it briefly, but now it's failing again. Oh how I wish Apple would give this app some attention!
I've done some more testing around this: It fails after one search, once you select an album. I'm pretty sure it was fine in 12.3.0, which means Apple's sneaked another undocumented change into 12.3.1 (and broken things in the process). Feedback submitted for Apple to ignore as usual.
Although having seen some of the comments in this thread I'm no longer so sure that it worked in 12.3.0! I went straight from 11.6 to 12.3 so didn't get to experience any 'fun' with in-between versions.

any changes or improvements?

also, does anyone know how to get Apple Music to match tracks? its driving me nuts, theres always like 1 track that doesnt want to match and just sticks to MP3 while the rest of the album matches and plays the better version

I’ve been struggling with this for years…

knock on wood, but i re-uploaded & matched several albums, rated another, and did some meta tag editing

all fine

used the android app, all new stuff including my own album art versions reflecting in the android app. Go back to MacOS, nothing has self destructed yet.

knock on the f'n wood...

update: 2 days later, no issues with meta data syncing

You may not like my answer, but this works for me. I back up the song file to another location and then in Apple Music I remove that song from my Library (but don't delete the file). That song will disappear from your Music Library and then I go to Apple Music and add that song into my library. The rest of the album will show Matched in Cloud Status and that one will show as Apple Music in Cloud Status column.
I still have the original file if I ever need it but anytime I play it, this song streams directly from Apple Music

I had this as well but what was happening for me was that changes I made on my Mac would disappear after it synced the iCloud library. What fixed it for me was deleting my Music library file and letting it create a new one after launching Music again. Ever since it's been fine.

Deleting library as in ? Going into finder>music> ? Like all my music is Apple Music and nothing is downloaded on the Mac. Thanks for the help.

I meant the "Music Library" file. Just don't empty the trash until you know the new one works.

It fixed mine because the previous library file wouldn't allow changes; like it was locked or the write permissions were off, which they werent. *shrugs*

Took a week but finally my meta data is messing up again. Things I rated yesterday, track names edited, etc. reverted at random (some tracks did, some didnt, no rhyme or reason)

Luckily I haven't had any metadata issues - but I never use Music.app to adjust it. I use an app called Meta from the Mac App Store and embed it into the file before importing it into my library.

So far on a new computer and clean install of Monterey I've been mostly okay other than album artwork taking a while to load on occasion. I will say though that performance is still pretty embarrassing. I know have an M1 Max with 32 GPU core and scrolling Album view is still stutters, searching still changes, artwork load times are slow, etc.

At its core, the Music app is just a visual front to a database. I'm surprised it has such performance issues.

EDIT: I also want to add that they still haven't fixed the "flashing" issue. Sometimes when going back to the album grid, or loading a playlist, etc. the app briefly flashes as though it's trying to load the view. Not a big deal, but not elegant.

Another bug that annoys me right now:
In the system settings - Keyboard - Shortcuts there is an option to move the focus using the keyboard. If that's enable one uses tab to move the focus to a button of any dialog or whatever. It's shown as a border around that button. Pressing space will "click" the button, pressing enter/return will "click" the colored default button no matter where the focus is.
It's a system thing, apps don't need to know about this, it will just work. But not Music.app. No it will look like it works, but pressing enter will "click" the button that got the focus. Like in this screenshot, space should click "Abbrechen" (cancel) and enter should click "Löschen" (delete), but space and enter will click the cancel button. So damn annoying!

Seeing meta data reverted more randomly again, album i fully rated (from apple music, not even an upload or match this time) just lost all of my edits an hour later. Frustrating as hell.

Mac Mini M1, OS 12.4 Beta ((21F5058e)
2 Accounts: Admin and User

The problem lies within my Music App. Logged into my User (Standard) account, Music will not play any of my music (stored on an external HDD). The sound output on other apps is fine (Spotify, Youtube music videos etc), but there is only a brief “blip” when attempting output within Music and then nothing. Sound output from Music is fine on my Admin account and also a new, temporary, Standard account that I created for testing. None of the Sound settings have been changed in my User account System Preferences; they are all identical to the Admin settings. So, I am left with thinking that something is wrong with my User account. Is it possible to repair this account? I have tried DiskUtil, Onyx, resetting User permissions in Terminal (diskutil resetUserPermissions / `id -u`)and prayer - nothing. I would rather not have to re-establish a “clean” User account, but may have to.

Anybody got any suggestions, please? I am completely out of my depth now. Thank you.

Not sure what component this is - but random playlists have disappeared from all of my iOS device despite still being present on my Mac. New playlists created on the Mac are not syncing over either. Not sure what's happening here.
