It should still be. What does the "i" alphabetical group of packages show you in manage packages?

There is no "i" :(

Oh snap. iSwype is gone. Cause I can't swype anymore in iMessage. Maybe I uninstalled it when I uninstalled iFile.

----------

PS. Keep the suggestions coming. This is great. I'm paying attention to every idea, hoping they'll become solutions.

----------

BTW, I'm trying to avoid having to pay for any Cydia apps because I'm not completely committed to the iPhone.

My plan is to set everything up as best as I can, then use it for the next few weeks, see how the S4 reviews, and make a final decision before my 30 days are up.

I can definitely see why people complain about the edges and the aluminum. I can easily see my edges and back getting scratched.

And boy, the full aluminum back is sure a grease/oil magnet. It just gets a bit grimmy.

----------

It seems Activator isn't always responsive. Sometimes it'll take two or three swipes to get it to do what I programmed it to do. That's sort of disappointing...

And when it doesn't do the action, it instead registered, as it should, a press/slide/whatever in the app I'm in, making it do stuff I didn't intend for it to do. This is especially true when the screen I'm trying to get out of is a keyboard screen.

So if i'm in Whatsapp... and I want to swipe from bottom to go Home, as I've programmed it to, and it Activator doesn't register it, I just end up typing gibberish. Of course, I don't send it, but next time I go back, I have to erase what gibberish I accidentally wrote.

Slightly frustrating...

Is Zephyr much better?

----------

Also... what do all these tweaks do to the battery life? A question I didn't consider until now.

Is Zephyr much better?

Yes, definitely better. It doesn't even rely on Activator. It also, at a pinch, lets you choose to either disable the swipe up gesture when keyboard is on display, or lets you have a grabber (similar to the notification center grabber in landscape mode. And its sensitivity can be changed. Just try it out on one of the free sources.

Edit:

And as for the battery life, well, I don't have any issues on my iPhone 4. But some infamous tweaks like Winterboard or Activator are indeed suspected to have a bad impact on it. Might also differ from phone to phone and whatnot.

So is your experience with the phone better when it's jailbroken?

IMECHzc.png

But that doesn't mean this is a keeper quite yet. Like I said, I'm just making my next 30 days as good as possible until I can make the best decision.

There is no jailbreak app that'll make the 4" screen bigger, either.

Zephyr paired with Auxo is such a winning combination. Why in the world is the jailbreak community figuring this stuff out faster than Apple?

Really, even without Android, you can already see how slow Apple implements things. What is wrong with Zephry and Auxo that Apple can't implement them? What are we waiting for to "get right"?

Now that I'm on an iPhone, I'm all the more convinced that Apple's philosophy of not implementing something until it's "ready" is utter BS.

Thankfully, Tim Cook may be modifying that philosophy to some degree.

----------

Are most of the tweaks stable or do they come across as amateurish?

Zephyr and Auxo are brilliant, especially paired together. Utterly brilliant. The "Switcher Delay" in Zephyr is ingenius and extremely responsive and reliable. It allows you to clearly swipe up to go home... or hold for that brief second delay to go into the app switcher tray instead.

Too bad your Nexus 4 didn't work out. I love my N4, best phone ever.

Can't say I didn't try. I really wanted to keep it. That boat has sailed.

----------

Any Zephyr-like app that allows me to put the phone to sleep with a gesture? Anything besides Activator (it wasn't reliably responsive).

They both sound good.

I'm just a little concerned as the jailbreak community seems a lot more "underground" than the rooting community, and this is a device I do my banking on.

With rooting you've got apps in the Google Play store and you have manufacturers like Samsung that remove NAND security to make it easier for rooters, so it's a lot more accepted than jailbreaking.

Get the S4 then, will be best new Android phone this Spring, better battery life than the HTC ONE, plus its removable. Great screen. And will have great development on XDA.

You can have the S4 running a stock Nexus 4 ROM :)

Can I still plug in my iPhone to my mac and do a backup to the computer after jailbreaking?

How's the battery life?

As for the aluminum getting damaged, I could never use my iphones naked and had to get a protective case. This is why I personally think the argument people use about plastic cases is moot. I would rather have the option to open the back up and replace the battery at will and add expandable storage.

With all the hastles you are going through I think you will be back to Android.
Maybe you could try the new S4 when it comes out?
I've been pretty happy with my Note II.

You realize you can turn it off, right? There are also plenty of ways to make it aesthetically please and/or invisible when the feature is off.

Not trying to start any arguments here. Just pointing all that out.

Good example is the green light on Macs (from the camera) :) if the thing is off you wont know its there.

Gotta just say, CoverMeNot does not solve the problem of intrusive banner notifications. It instead pushes everything down which one might argue is even more distracting. It also sort of hiccups with a weird and subtle screen flash whenever a message comes in. Then when the message is done, the screen slides back upwards slightly. It's a bit more obnoxious than just swiping the notification away.

Either way... notifications on iOS is poorly implemented. I mean, I knew it was bad but really, notifications is a sick joke on iOS.

Coach you better pay for bitesms if you really going to keep the iphone, can live without it and quickreply/quickcompose

Also for whatsapp is a tweak that lets you reply to msg without open the whole app, very nice.

Download foldercloser too, very underrated tweak that closes the folder once you launch the app you wanted :) when you come back to the homescreen the folder is allready closed.

ohhh forgot, callbar is really great but you seem to hate the little banners :(

This might not be news to you, but I just realized today - after having used it for several weeks - that my iPod Touch has spurious touch rejection. I had only heard of that as being an iPad mini feature. After doing some google searching, it doesn't seem to be too widely talked about for the other small iOS devices.

It works pretty well, and now that I know it's there, I won't be feeling like I need to handle the device so gingerly.

Battery life is pretty mediocre so far, but I'm going to chock that up to me tinkering with jailbreak, apps, setting things up, etc. It's at 35% already from 100% this morning (around 8:30 am). I don't know why it doesn't display my Usage stats. It says it will after I've fully charged (I thought it was fully charged over night, but whatever).

I'm hoping and expecting that the battery life doesn't take too major of a hit from the jailbreak apps. I'm only using a few -- as per recommended by another poster -- to help with the experience a little bit.

Regarding the S4...

My iPhone 5 ownership is very far from set in stone. While the smaller screen is bothering me a lot less than I anticipated, and while jailbreaking is making the experience far more tolerable, there is still a lot to be bothered about:

1) I'm always on either 2G or 3G, thankfully thanks to Tmobile's refarming, mostly on 3G and the speeds are decent (pulling down 5-6 Mb/s).

2) The screen size is still 4". No app will ever change this.

3) There will never be a notification light. The LED Flash is hardly an acceptable alternative, especially since it only works when device is silent.

4) At the end of the day, it's still grids of icons staring you in the face. Even with jailbreak, I still feel things are cumbersome to customize.

I really don't wanna get too much into it, but without jailbreak, iOS is a joke. A sick sick joke. It is so far from being the "world's most advance operating system" that it's sick. Truly.

Anyway, a lot will depend on my own hands on with the S4 and with reviews. I am really not liking what I see with the S4. The fact that a lot of the hands on videos still show lag and stuttering really concerns me. Hopefully, that's cause they're pre-release versions.
