My major pet peeves with LCD is backlight bleed, gray black, uniformity issues, yellowing, etc. which are not an issue with OLED. I'm also guessing iPhone 6 and 6+ displays are made by LG because they have that signature look with light skin tone looking pale and yellow when I was looking at pictures on MLB site. Plus, it would add to the cost if Apple were to use a premium OLED display.

Why would it add to the cost to switch to OLED? It's not adding to the cost for Samsung and others to use it. It's a proven technology now, so the costs should be fairly equal.
That said, OLED is a nice technology, but I find the colors to be far too oversaturated for my liking.

oversaturation is a non issue. read post#24. if you like a dull looking screen the note4 can do it also.

the beauty of the note4 is that if the screen is too vivid or poppy for your tatse. than you can change it. unlike that of the iphone6 were you stick with what you got. so too say it's too vivid or to poppy is a inaccurate statement cause it can be changed.
look at the picture below in cinema mode. you can clearly see the image is no longer bright, vivid or poppy. it now looks a bit dull like an iphone6. choice is a wonderful thing:)

Technically that is not the correct settings menu. The one I attached is directly from "my" Note 4. In basic mode the Note 4 has the best display of any phone on the market today; period. It's been proven and tested by professionals. The only people to argue that fact are butt hurt.
And the person that said the LG G3 screen is better is smoking crack rock. LG was first with a qHD display but Samsung perfected it. Not trying to be a fanboy but it's the truth.

I don't understand the point of this, if you like the Note 4, go return/sell your 6+ and go get one. I'm sure you'd get similarly ripped if you went to an Android forum and told them how nice your 6+ is.

That and its mostly bullcrap. Its a good screen but it has its own issues which Displaymate seems to downplay for some reason. The Plasma comparison from the OP is also headscratch worthy.

I'm coming from the note 2, every two years I switch os. So this go around its apples's turn. But today I saw my friends note 4 screen playing COD advanced warfare ad video on YouTube and instantly did a side by side comparison . The note 4 screen while playing videos, kills iphone 6 by 10,000 miles. iPhone 6 was washed out and looked pathetic compared to the plasma looking note 4. I'm so jeolous of that screen it's not even funny. Anybody else seen the note 4 compared to their iPhone 6?

I have, the 6 is way worse, the 6 Plus not so bad. The contrast is far from the Note 4 (infinitely far literally) but the pixel density on the Plus isn't so bad. Colors are pretty good but not as vivid as the Note 4. It even has different saturation settings. It was rated the most accurate smartphone display IIRC.

I had and returned the note 4. Yes the screen is very nice, but you have to use touch wiz along with it so that outweighs the screen for me. The 6+ screen is great as well. Samsung has had great screens for a while, but that's not everything.

Too bad the Note runs TouchWiz which is the absolute WORST OS skin I have ever used.

This debate comes down to LCD vs AMOLED. One has more neutral, realistic colors where the other kicks the contrast up a bit and over-saturates to give it that extra "pop".

That and functionality with the spen and apps to take advantage of it. Screen was rated the best screen on a smartphone so far.

Your info is a couple of years old. According to the authority Displaymate iPhone 6+ is good for a mobile LCD display but Note 4 display is the best of all mobile displays. Furthermore, when you go to any home theater store the premium TVs are OLED whereas the budget ones are LCD.

I had a 6+ but I've gone with the note 4. I just love the screen on the note. But I think it comes down to personal preference.

Just like everything else, everybody see's things differently. One person can love the screen better on a Note 4 and another person can like the iP6 better or the G3. To each their own.

Either one dont bother me and i dont have to have the best "rated" screen because they all look pretty good to me and what looks best is that persons review is their opinion anyways.

I think the Nissan Leaf is a really ugly ass car but some people buy them and think they look good, lol.

My only issue for a screen is how well i can see it in sunlight. The GS3 when i had it was awful and my IPS sceen Nexus 5 is better. I think the AMOLED screens on the newer Samsungs (GS5, Note 3,4) are nicer than my GS3 but havent tried them in sunlight because i dont have one. Ill probably never have a Note because they are too big for my liking.

Did I say the Note 4 screen was inferior in any way? It IS the better display, for a reason. Higher pixel density + saturated colors + inky blacks = better display.

People don't want to admit/give credit to Samsung for making the best mobile display on any smartphone in 2014. Then they resort to the Touchwiz sucks argument. I actually prefer the new Touchwiz settings menu vs. stock Android. And without the Touchwiz framework many of the features like multitasking with 2 apps at once would not be possible. Yes I have seen a Note 4 lag on video but it's doing 10 times more work than what a typical Android/iPhone can do. Once someone shows me 2 apps on screen at once with tons of apps in the background on a iPhone 6 plus then the haters can talk. That's only possible with Touchwiz because even stock Android can't do it.

Played with em all at the ATT store, I say the LG g3 has the best screen of all with the Note 4 in 2nd place and Iphone 6/6+ in 3rd. I think thats a fair assesment
Lg l3 use software resolved sharpening of deyails on the screen. Looks worse after use. With iphone, it looks much awesome due to the retina hardware technology. No info about note 4. Looks like a blown up s2 to me.

You must didn't play with them long enough then you would've realize the note 4 screen is much superior to the LG g3 screen.

oled >>>>> LCD

heres a side by side

the 6+ definitely feels washed out, but only when compared next to the note4. I have a tab s, and this quick side by side mirrors what i see myself

I wouldn't say that personally. They both look like they have pretty damn good screens with the Note looking a bit brighter. AMOLED screens to me have always looked over saturated which isn't a bad thing, but I couldn't really argue which is better. I know we have people from both sides arguing that one is superior, however in reality most people couldn't tell the difference and probably don't even care. You are going to get a good deal on screen stats which ever of these phones you buy IMO.

If you change 1 setting on your Note 4 it will make its colours near identical to the iPhone 6

Go into display settings and turn adapt display to 'Basic' and this produces same colors as iPhone by simply turning off the artificial saturation boost Samsung implements on its Amoled displays.

Personally I always dial down the saturation on my Samsung devices so that images are more natural as I prefer the natural accuracy rather than over saturated vibrancy.

At the end of the day it's nothing but a personal preference.

The screen on the note is pretty spectacular IMO but I think most screens look pretty nice on their own as long as you're not comparing them side by side.

I took a look at the note 4 in the store but Touchwiz ruined the entire device for me. Samsung can make good phones so I hope one day they'll be running software that doesn't drive me crazy.

Using the note at att the screen blew me away. It's absolutely gorgeous. I don't like touchwiz at all but it is undeniable that in the realm of AMOLED Samsung knows what they're doing. It was just gorgeous.

I'll probably end up with the nexus 6 and I hope that the display they used is one mostly on par with the note 4, because if I can get that experience of the screen without the touchwiz and carrier bloat, wow, good phone.

My only concern with the Nexus 6 is the display. If it wasn't for the Note 4 display being so kickass I would have waited for it. But I've owned Amoled phones for the last 3 years (Nexus, Note 2 and Note 3) and my only criticism was the "crisp" factor. The iPhone display always appeared brighter and crispy compared to those Amoled displays. The Note 4 changes all that in Basic mode. Hopefully the Nexus 6 is better than the Note 3 when it comes to brightness but if the Droid Turbo is any indication I doubt it. The Turbo's brightness level suck hard.
For me without a good display the entire experience is affected. Next would be the lag factor which the nexus should win. But after using the Turbo for a short period of time I did not see a speed difference. Nexus will shine once you start loading up custom roms.

I had the Turbo as well. I was disappointed in the screen. It was a fast phone.....but the design shape and screen were disappointing. Call volume was another disappointment.

Have you returned it already ? That's dissapointing for you, but at least it's another phone you can check off the list this year :D

Another thing about the Note 4 is the screen brightness, this is a BIG deal for me. In automatic mode it goes to freakin 700nits, I can clearly see the screen even with my convertible top off in sunlight, I've never had that in a cell phone before. It also goes down to 2nits, 2 freakin nits, this keeps the wife happy if I play with the phone in bed.

I've also said it before, but the resolution is awesome. You can fit more stuff inside a GPS map for example. I also just realized the other day that my calendar fits more text in is, I can easily see all my daily appointments on a monthly view!

I actually sold it for more than I paid..... Once in a while the ledger swings on the positive :)
