Lower your desk, not your iMac.I see no easy way to lower the iMac - without a hacksaw....
Maybe the Mini is better for you.

The iMac height has never been adjustable...
You’ve not been around MacRumors for long, I’d guess? It’s like Apple complaint central. There’s nothing Apple can do that wouldn’t have some portion of users complaining about it!If the iMac had an adjustable stand, how many people would be complaining that that was a poor design decision?
not many, I’d wager

All the naysayers/ fan boys… it doesn’t stop the iMac from, in this case, being a design that could be improved. The OP is not the first person to point out this flaw.
Yes, a mini and external monitor could solve the problem, but a better design would mean the problem didn’t existed in the first place.

You are a day late. Somebody pointed that out already. Read everything before posting unless you want to be late to the party Charlie.
G4 has entered the chat.
Hey pal, you are the one who bought the thing. Looks like you (should) know where to point the finger of blame. This a dumb design
Get rid of their glasses? ???Yeah either get the VESA mount option, ditch the progressive lenses for some dedicated computer glasses or get a Mac Mini and an external display. (Though I do wish Apple would make the computer height adjustable like the G4 iMac, personally I wish it were a tad higher which is why I like my Dell Ultrasharps)
Get rid of their glasses? ???
I have presbyopia and I know what you mean. My progressive glasses are designed for far and very near and are specifically for driving with. I cannot use them for computer. Perhaps your progressive lenses are like mine. Go to your optometrist and describe the problem. There is a specific progressive lenses designed for office/computer use, where the intermediate zone is wider, and the far and reading zones are wider.
Wait, this was a party? Must have the wrong address…You are a day late. Somebody pointed that out already. Read everything before posting unless you want to be late to the party Charlie.
Nah. It's a fault of the iMac. You shouldn't need to order a special model to put it on a decent stand nor should it come with a worse stand than a $200 Dell monitor for $1200. Monitor ergonomics is important and Apple has been shipping horrible stands for over 15 years now.I have progressives too so for you to blame the iMac design is just ridiculous beyond means. You chose progressives and that’s the caveat of them. You have to bob your head. The fault lies on your glasses not the iMac. ?

The vast majority of monitors these days come with at the very least holes for a VESA mount allowing the use of a wall mount, monitor arm or 3rd party stand. The iMac should be no exception. You shouldn't need to decide at time of purchase whether you need a VESA mount.

If you don't wear progressives, you completely wrong. If you do, then you know you can't use any monitor or iMac with out eye strain.Nah. It's a fault of the iMac. You need an adjustable desk...there are some affordable options if you're not looking to spend $800 on a nice one.I have a new iMac 24 inch computer that I use as an office computer in my business. I also have eye glasses with Progressive Lenses. That means that I have to tilt my head up to read from close images.
It would be ideal for me to have my computer screen down lower on my desk - so I can be looking down at the screen from my chair position. My new iMac has a non adjustable stand that holds the computer 3.5 inches above my desktop and there is a huge blank metal band and a white strip that keeps the viewing screen even higher. With the dock on, the bottom of my actual computer screen is 7 inches above my desk. To read items at the upper half of my screen I have to arch my neck up to focus through the bottom of my glasses. Ouch !

This a dumb design View attachment 1807090 and I do not like it at all ....
Both. A lot of people get comfort from complaining about things. The only difference is we don’t see posts here from the “real life” group. Well, I mean, unless we are ALL bots, we’re all members of the “real life” group, too, but you know what I meanOn Macrumors or real life?
There’s a distinct difference between those demographics
Remember people are different sizes. I know I couldn't use the current iMac, it's way too high..I can’t image the iMac being too high. My problem is it’s too low for ergonomics which requires a riser of a few inches. Does your desk have a super high riser or something?
