WORKS GREAT ON iOS7!!!

The latest (247) version of Elias Limneos' Audio (initially: Call) Recorder works just fine (on the iPhone 5 - I don't think it would on other devices, except for, maybe, the 4S), including my patched, warning-free version: https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/1566350/

Only one thing doesn't work: in the GUI, the "Send to" menu in the top left corner after selecting a clip. It'll immediately crash after you select Agree. Nevertheless, it's not that big a problem - as I've explained it at https://forums.macrumors.com/posts/17100749/ , the original recordings are at var/mobile/Library/Application Support/UltimateCallRecorder. Then, as i've explained in my linked post, it's easy to make the in/output files into one.

Thanks for all your work on this!! I'll be installing as soon as substrate is updated!

Thanks for your work on this. I installed Audio Recorder and it was initially working fine, but after a respring, it seems to have died. It shows up in settings and the app launches when accessed through the icon, but the record button is longer present during a call. This happened on 7.0.2 and again after I upgraded/restored to 7.0.4. Any ideas?

Great you noticed this. It's indeed a PITA. It seems not even a complete app reinstall helps - it'll no longer work.

Just restoring my iPhone5 fully and re-jailbreaking to see whether I can find out why the app is doing so.

After a full restore & re-jailbreak & tweak reinstall cycle, it became in Settings visible (and working) again. Until the next reset (not just a simple respring), that is. After that, I couldn't make it work any more by reinstallations.

Just doing another full restore & re-jailbreak & tweak reinstall cycle to back up and compare the installed files.

So should I update or not?

You mean to iOS7, while keeping call recording? I'd say no. This problem seems to be a severe one. I may be able to find a solution - currently, this is all we can hope for as Elias Limneos has dropped development.

I'm on ios 6. The issue I had with the version from a few months ago was that MUTE would MUTE when on a call. Will new version fix this?

There won't be any new version of the app, unless the original dev changes his mind.

After a full restore & re-jailbreak, installed the slightly older (247 being the latest) 227. It doesn't even display a menu item in Settings, making it impossible to (manually; not via directly editing / overwriting plist files) configure it. That is, switching to older versions of the recorder won't work either.

Now I'm off to do another full restore & re-jailbreak cycle to install 247 and try to find at least a manual way of restoring the recorder after a reset so that it remains usable across full restarts.

Wow, you're on it! Thanks for all your hard work on this. This app has been very handy for me in the past as I often have phone calls that require a lot of notes. It would be great to be able to use it again.

Looks like limneos has released a .3-1 update for the app

Thanks for pointing this out - out to download the new app. Hope he understood people do need a warning-free version, even when he himself can't support it, and hasn't strengthened the warnign file tampering checking more so that we have a chance of removing it...

BTW, I've tried the same trick that works with FakeCarrier (see https://forums.macrumors.com/posts/18540972/ ) - reinstalling Mobile Substrate after a reset.

While it does bring back the settings tab to Settings, it doesn't make .247 work again.

It's somewhat better than .247 and is, now, usable, assuming you can always fully reinstall it after hard resets. Note that

- the "send to" icon still crashes the app (not a big problem, compared to the following ones)

- after a reset, reinstalling MobileSubstrate and/or PreferenceLoader will still only redisplay the Settings item but won't reactivate the recorder itself. The latter can only be done via a complete reinstall each time after a reset.

All this with the official and legal .3-1 version on an absolutely clean, freshly restored + re-JB'n device.

Now, I'm off to investigating of the removal of the voice warning...

----------

The latter can only be done via a complete reinstall each time after a reset.

... or not even that. After the first reinstall, no more reinstalls (after other resets) worked. Oh well - currently, it seems, this app can't be used.

Ok, please break this down for me. I'm a complete newbie at this.

I'm on ios 6. The app works for me, except the mute issue. To get mute back, I have to disable the app, then respring.

Now, ios7 jailbreak is out. If update to ios 7 then re-jailbreak, i shouldn't install this app because it messes things up so bad you have to restore and do again?

If you use this app a lot, you probably don't want to upgrade to ios 7 because the app will not work. It does not interfere with anything from what I've seen.

Thanks. Well, hopefully it gets tweaked. It's a cool app. Are you updating to ios7?

I had to get a replacement in May and it came with 6.1.4, so I've been on 7 since the betas as I wasn't able to jailbreak. I am enjoying finally installing tweaks again. I just wish I could get this app working. I haven't noticed many other problems aside from this one. :)

Indeed. Don't upgrade yet if call recording is of importance. Not even the dev's latest, allegedly iOS7-compliant version (3-1) does survive hard resets.

There is another app CallRec.me. Anyone ever use it? I did a long time ago.

I looked into the CallRec.me app but it requires an account and it's a pay service. I liked Audio Recorder because it recorded phone calls without any sign up, accounts, billing or hassle. Just a straight recording saved on the phone.

And, because of the long-distance call prices, prohibitively expensive for us Europeans (and other non-US people).

Ah, I see. So, how do we get the maker of this app to fix this? Damn, even if they charged $5, I'd buy... Sorry, I haven't read this whole thread.

Let's wait for the MobileSubstrate update. If the problem persists even after that, then let's talk with the dev. He, fortunately, started supporting (and even selling!) his app again. (He understood he won't be sued for it, after all. It was worth for me compiling a list of call recorders on other smartphone platforms, it seems.)
