Pretty sure, most people going naked have Apple care. If that’s the case, I would too, but personally, I’ll keep $180 in my pocket by going slim case + glass protector instead.

I don't use cases or have AppleCare. It's the risk I'm willing to take. No drops or damage to date. But I am always cautious with my devices, but I do recommend AppleCare for those who might be more prone to accidents.

I changed my stance, lol.

NEVER used a case on my iPhones and purchased a Speck Presidio Grip case for my X. The THOUGHT of paying $500 to replace the back makes me cry at night. Surprisingly very happy with this case

Not right place to mention this but. Apple accepts the phone back with scratches and dings on the apple upgrade program right?

I have dbrand leather skin for the back and temper glass screen protector on the front

How do you like that back skin? It appears to curve in at the edges which would be great. I got a leather back from Slickwraps and man oh man was it bad. Thick as heck and the edges were crazy sharp. Ended up tossing it almost asap

Had every iPhone since the original and I’ve never had a case, screen protector or insurance. Only broke one (the 7) which had slid out of the pocket of some new trousers and went flying when I got out the car.

Seems a shame to cover the phone up with a cheap case, and I’d be ridiculously out of pocket if I’d been paying insurance for the last 10 years!

I’m so tempted. I was naked with my Jet Black 7 Plus and it was great. This is slightly more slippery compared to the JB.

I have Apple Care and on the upgrade programme.

Do they take them back with dings etc?

Well I find my X to be massively more slippery vs my JB 7+

The glass back + Smaller footprint make the X much easier to grip.
I go naked, always have. I have Applecare+ aswell for this reason.
Yea that’s been my logic now too. I have apple care cause of the upgrade program. Those on here judging anyone for buying it. Some of us didn’t have a choices.

No way my X is more slippery than my 7+ Black was.

But yes my X is naked and will remain naked. No issues at all with that.

It is bound to happen .. you are very brave if you go without a case on a 1000 dollar phone. I had my case a week before I had my phone. Even with AppleCare you are paying money on top of the 230 bucks or what ever it cost every time you have an issue except maybe battery. I have never done AppleCare because I have a case and a screen protector . I have dropped mine a dozen times since getting it on Nov. 3 rd. So no crying and moaning when it does happen.

Whether it’s £100 or £1150 I go naked all the time. I don’t get why the price would make a difference. Afterall it’s a phone and meant to be used. Heck if anything the £1150 phone would more likely be used naked as it’s design will be much nicer.

The price makes a difference if you want to buy another one because the one with no case is shattered on the ground because there was not a case on it to protect it. With apple care you are still paying for them to fix it. So a 35 dollar case is a great investment. Of coarse it hides the great design but I would rather not have to buy another one because I broke mine. And since mine has been in a case its whole life I can get top dollar when selling it..

An argument presented that I will never understand. I simply do not understand why you'd buy something to then keep it pristine for the second-hand buyer. That is like some people I know who keep the plastic on their sofa's so they don't get a stain on it. A very alien concept to me, when I buy something I enjoy it for me, not keep it for whoever may or may not buy it from me.

The few I was bothered to sell on, I still got the same excellent quality market value for.

that's because when i sell my iphone, the dealers will check for every minute scratch or scuff and deduct the amount they are willing to pay for my iphone

Brother in law dropped his X from about 30 inches on hardwoods (its not carpet but still way softer then concrete) and it dented the corner of the phone and made 1/3 of the screen go white. I’m using a case.

Apple care. With the recent news, I'll make sure that I smash the phone and use my two replacements before AC is out so I get a phone with a fresh battery before Apple throttles it down.

Wont the replacement's deductible under AC+ for it's total destruction still be more expensive than replacing just the battery?

You know its made of glass and glass breaks when something happens to it like a drop. We take our car to the dealer for service when selling our car this helps us get more money when we resell. We service it to make it last longer for us but it helps sell the car in the future for more money. Same principle as the phone case. If people decide to not put a case on theirs they have NO RIGHT to bitch and complain when it does get broken. Just my 2 cents.

The fact that my X has repeatedly fallen off the couch to the hard wood floor, I decided to purchase AC+. I already have some scratches on the front screen of the phone that bother me, so I may eventually get the screen replaced after the new year. I'm sure it doesn't help that the back of the phone is all glass.

I have had my X for over 2 weeks now and I do have a clear case that I have been using before I decide what I want to do. A part of me wants to use the phone without a case because it is too stunning to throwing on something that covers up the shiny edges/back of the device, but on the other hand I don’t have Apple Care and will probably want to resell it in the future. Apple has luckily lowered the price of screen replacements to $279 (without Apple Care) from the original $579 which I can live with. Don’t get me wrong, it’s still expensive, but $279 isn't flat out stupid.
For those of you that have been using the X without a case, how has it been so far? Are there extensive scratches/noticeable dents already?

Thank You!

I've had my silver X for just over a month now without a case, and it's held up well. The stainless band at the top (I put the device upside down in an empty pocket) looks a little scuffy, but I expected that, and you have to look closely to notice it. I love the way it feels without a case. I haven't dropped it or banged it into anything, and of course, if that happens, sadness. So, to answer your question, I do not have extensive scratches or noticeable (or any) dents.

I'm sure that my iPhone will now fly out my window and go bouncing down the freeway. :)
