For an in stock/in store nano texture version available only the 14”, space black, m4, 16/1tb?

I can’t compare the display in a store for myself (I’m in Brazil).
But in every video comparison on YouTube, it looks washed out to me. Especially the blacks seem gray.

This. I’ve had the nano texture in my iPad Pro since release and there have been no maintenance issues.
The iPad Pro nano display and the nano display on the MacBook Pro are completely different.

There is clearly something about the OLED on the iPad Pro because that screen looks gorgeous beyond compare, while the MacBook Pro screen doesn’t have anywhere near the same look.

I discussed this with several Apple employees in store and they were the ones who actually pointed it out to me.

As soon as the MacBook pro goes OLED then Apple may as well discontinue the glossy screens entirely. Until then the nano does come with trade offs compared to the glossy.

I thought the Nano-texture on the iPad looked worse than the MBP, having a much more pronounced grainy texture

the nano-Texture Pro Display XDR has been reported to be extremely fragile. Hopefully the MBP is a different story.

Just received my 14” M4 Pro with the nano-texture display. Upgraded from a 2018 Intel MBP. If you’re on the fence between nano and glossy, go nano. The visuals are so lifelike, like a window to the world. Glossy looks cheap in comparison.
This is a great way to describe it. Couldn't agree more.

This version is showing in stock at my local apple stores. Does anybody know if there is a 16" model available?

Is the text and images not as crisp around the edges? I have read that with nano-texture that can be a thing.

I guess my last question here is should I be worried with Nano-Texture display when I spend 4 hours a week at a gymnastics gym where there is chalk in the air all the time? My current MBP has chalk dust on it with it just being in the air but the screen is easy to clean off. Would the nano-texture make it a pain in the ass to clean all the time?

How easy it is for the aluminum version of the Apple Watch to get scratched?
If the screen has very tiny particles on it, and one uses an Apple Pencil or finger to swip with or move across the screen, whereby the particle(s) get trapped between the tip of the pencil of finger and the screen, one could end up with a scratch or two. It is very important to keep the screen clean. I do not directly touch my nano iPad. I am either using the Magic Keyboard, or using the Apple Pencil or a stylus. To remove any occasional dust, I use a very soft duster to lightly glide across the screen.

I had convinced myself that a matte screen protector (like the ones I have on my iPad Pro and M1 Pro are as good as nano texture);

Bought the high end 14" unit (2TB; 48GB RAM) in store and have been struggling to find any downsides. The screen looks great compared to the matte options I tried and can look very vivid with the right content.

I am even starting to like the black colour (got a black iPad Pro and a black iPhone too); think this one is a keeper!

Thank you. If the nano-texture screen on the MacBook Pro 2024 is like that, it may be better to avoid it.

I have seen a nano-texture Macbook Pro 14" on display only. One possible issue could be that the matte screen disperses the light so instead of having a focused light on a standard screen, a larger area of the nano-texture screen gets affected.

I wouldn’t worry, I use my nano texture screen on my iPad Pro for hours every day - touching, writing and drawing on it. There have been no issues at all.

Got the M4 Pro 2TB with the nano texture- not impressed. Same effect as a matte film I applied to my M1 Pro. Didn't like the graininess it brings about...
I have to correct myself here. Effect is far more subtle vs the matte screen protector on my M1 Pro. Have them side by side at the moment and I would pick the M4 Pro any day of the week- even with the high cost of admission..

I have owned a 16MBP M4Max laptop with nano display for almost a week. I don’t clean my displays very often. However, I got some minor spittle on the display and wanted to see how easy it was to remove. With 70% and the Apple supplied cleaning cloth it was easily removed without smearing using only the gentlest of pressure. Very pleased how well this cleaned up.

It would be interesting to find out the experience of others.

Same, I asked in store if they received any 16 inch with nano texture, the person said no.

I now have both 16" MBP M4 in 48gb 1tb configurations with and without nano-texture

Under dark lighting conditions, there is NO difference between the two displays in terms of contrast and black depth. I had the two laptops set up in a 'blind' experiment under pitch black conditions. The displays are identical in the dark.

As ana aside, I noticed a slightly 'warmer' color on the glossy display.

The nano-texture kinda looks more 'life-like', just like a gallery painting. Whereas the gloss display looks like, just how you think, a picture under a glass.

As per 'sharpness', I turn of macos font smoothing for reference, and I can't notice any difference in font sharpness.

I will do more testing. I'm still undecided at this point.
