IME, it's annoying to clean off the markings on the glossy display without lens wipes or alcohol even with a microfiber cloth. I was looking to see if it's the same with the nano-texture.
I've never had an issue cleaning my glossy screens.

My Intel 2020 MBA doesn't have a mark on the screen, and my new M4 Pro (glossy) is the same - although that's only a few weeks old.

Damp glass cleaning cloth, that I also use to clean taps and mirrors, does wonders.

I went for the glossy screen but so far I've not heard any complaints about scratches or cleaning ability of the nano.

Yeah cleaning the glossy was never an issue. Other than being paranoid about cleaning it too much or too aggressively and the coating coming off.

Maybe that was only the 2015 models (my 2011 pro didn’t get affected and my 2020 air isn’t yet old enough) but it left a bad enough taste in my mouth that I’m glad to be done with glossy coatings. Never particularly liked it.

How is the MiniLED “blooming”? Is it any different (i.e. better) compared to the glossy display? I have struggled with using Dark Mode on my M1 Pro MBP where the halo around white text on dark backgrounds causes eye strain and focus. I do have mild astigmatism in one eye but haven’t had an issue with dark mode on my OLED iPad Pro.

It's approximately the same, maybe a little better - I know what you're referring to but I never really found it an issue to be honest. Sure you can see it with say white text on a black background but for general use it is not noticeable.

I own both M1 Pro 14" and M4 Max 14" nano.

Now that they’ve been out a while, how does the nano-texture glass hold up with keyboard markings after closing the laptop? If you had issues with keyboard markings on prior MacBooks, do you have it on the nano still? Is it easier/harder to clean?
No issues at all. I actually returned mine today, not big enough of an upgrade over my M1 Pro for my use case.

The thing i will miss the most is the nano texture screen- my matte screen protector produces nearly the same effect, however.

Interesting. I am awaiting delivery of my M4 Pro with nano texture.

Do you happen to have any comparison photos of your nano texture display next to your M1 Pro with matte screen protector?

Answering my own quesiton here with a YouTube video of someone in the Apple Store comparing nano texture against their matte screen protector.

I still much prefer the nano-texture. While the matte screen protector appears to diffuse more light, it also happens to spread the light in a way that creates more glare and obscures the image. Another advantage of nano-texture is it seems less prone to making contact with the keyboard. You can clearly see the added thickness of the matte screen protectory shows the keyboard imprint.

I agree, I pickup my 14"/Pro/Nano last night and I traded-in my 16"/M1. It will take me sometime to adjust because the 14 MBP feel like toys compared to the 16 lol

The 14-inch still feels pretty dense and substantial. Let us know your thoughts after you get more time with your new 14 Pro nano.

I almost went back to 16-inch size with nano, but I reread some of my old posts and reminded myself what I didn't like/need about the MBP 16.

I restored my TM backup around 11am, I been using it all day already also the battery is 57% so not bad at all.I may need to buy this. I don't miss the 16 now because of it's weight, always kept it at home, imo its too heavy to keep on the lap.

So I have a nano texture, using the Apple cloth i was able to clean way fingerprints and smudges (natural clean hands smudges). It took a big longer but maybe better, as the glossy usually leaves smudges.

I also tested a small spit test, spitting on the screen (baby style), not after eating grease food.

I let it rest for 12 hours and used the cloth, most went away, although some spots were hard to remove. I dampen the apple cloth with water and went away.

Although I recommend to be more cautious versus the glossy one.

water is okay on the nano screen?

This is exactly the info I was looking for! The glossy always leaves a hazy/off-color smudge for me even with a clean microfiber cloth unless I use a cleaning solution (e.g., lens wipe). Seems I'll have to look at nano when I upgrade.

Not sure how it is microscopic level as on that level there are nano gaps of course. Hence I recommend to be extra careful.

I've cleaned my early-2020 Macbook Air with a damp glass-cleaning cloth for 5 years, two or three times a week, and there's absolutely no damage,

Some people (including me!) just have long memories of Pros around the 2013 era having the screen coating coming off. That issue, it seems, was fixed years ago.

Despite the nano texture, I suspect the nano screens to clean easily with a dampened glass-cleaning cloth.

(Note that a glass-cleaning cloth is smooth, compared to a standard microfibre cloth.)

I always use eyeglass Lens Cleaning Wipes Pre-moistened but I don't know if I can use them on the Nano screen.

I know, hence why I asked specifically said after closing the laptop.

It's a different display surface and I'm interested in people's direct comparisons between the standard glossy coating and the etched glass in terms of (1) how easily it picks up the oils and (2) how easy it is to clean off.

The Nano Texture display, being etched rather than coated, is more durable than a glossy coating.
1. It is less likely to pick up oil than a glossy display.
2. While the provided cloth makes cleaning fairly easy, it's not as effortless as using Apple's Polishing Cloth, especially when dust is present. With the provided cloth, I have to remove dust with my fingers before wiping away oil, whereas the Apple Polishing Cloth cleans everything in one swipe, highly recommended that you use Apple's Polishing Cloth.

You may consider using this:

I clean oil off my keyboard everytime I close the lid. You don't have to do that but I really hate shinny keycaps.

You shouldn't clean the nano texture display with water because its etched surface is likely to trap residue from hard water.

I just found it muted the colours and on an iPad created a weird texture difference between the bezel and display I did not like.
