All those who were arguing that the iPhone X was a flop are now silent given the recent earnings report from Apple. It is the best selling iPhone every week for the past two quarters.

All these reports from the supply chain are ******** and bogus. Tim Cook has warned multiple times not to predict iPhone sales based on changes in the supply chain. Apparently, most of you didn’t get that memo. Guess he was right again. Changes in the supply change DOES NOT equate to lower or higher iPhone sales.

Well, of course it's a matter of opinion, and this has been discussed to death already on MacRumors. But my reasons:

  • Perfect shape/size - big screen without the big body
  • Edge to edge (or nearly so) display
  • OLED looks incredible
  • UI gestures and navigation are super fluid and natural once you adjust to it (which doesn't take long at all)
  • Fast, fast, fast
  • Great build quality and appearance with the stainless band
I had the x but found it to small. I like the lcd screen that’s just my opinion and I really missed the home button. I’m really looking forward to the new iPhone coming with the lcd

That’s the only real drawback to the iPhone X, was that it felt much smaller than I anticipated, which is why look forward to the 6.5 iPhone X Plus. Perhaps I was just so used to the width of the overall size of the 5.5 iPhone Plus Over the years.

This seems like an almost personal victory for you. How much are your shares worth now?

Yup, it’s always a fun day when some people get a scoop of reality after discussing how bad things will go this year for sure at Apple.

How can you twist his post into something about owning Apple shares? He was merely pointing out the fact that there were people calling the X a flop and that it wasn't successful.(as in the title of this thread) And Apple stating during the earnings report that the X is the best selling iPhone every week for the past two quarters.

Personally, I think shares going up is a GOOD thing. Kinda wish I had a few hundred shares :) And I should clarify. I like it when they go up because of better value for consumers, not less value.

Not sure if animated emoji's represent more or less value. Does zip for me.

I don’t own Apple shares. I just like facts and I listen to what the CEO of the company said than some analyst predicting sales from the supply chain.
You are in no way affiliated with the company but it sounded like you took great glee in them making huge profits while we the consumers are paying more then ever?

That seems very strange to me from a consumer point of view as I hate seeing a company creep prices up and tell us it’s ok because we are now getting less for our money.

I wasn’t twisting anything, I was being obviously sarcastic.

People like myself were hoping the X would have a poor quarter because it would be best for all of us in the long run. Prices are getting bloody ridiculous and before long we’re are going to have a $1.5-2k iPhone. I had hoped Apple would get a reality check and we might see more sensible pricing going forward. In fact they may as well raise prices because there is no limit.

All this cult allegiance stuff here chest pumping when Apple makes lots of money makes no sense to me unless people directly benefit. All ‘yes YES!!! you were wrong’ tripe just serves as a stereotypical backup. I’m very disappointed but hey ho.

Going by your signature its been a long time since you have bought anything Apple, its 2018 prices have gone up :)

Anyway you don't need to buy full price plenty of bargains around, i bought a 4 day old X64 for $579 below retail and a sealed 8 plus 256gb for $447 below retail in the last 2 days.

So, the X was the best selling model and therefore sold more than say the 8, but did it sell more than the 8 Series (8 & 8+) or even 7 Series? That we don’t know.

Perhaps that’s what a ‘few more points’ means.

Its called hyperbole, which you blatantly missed in @The-Real-Deal82 post You quoted. Perhaps you should re-read it.

That aside, We know the iPhone X has been successful for the most part, based off Cooks earning calls. [Even given without the verified numbers]. Regardless, what that member (Real-deal) was saying was _Some_ are not seeing the value for the iPhone X given the rising costs and what it offers. There has to be a plateau Point, where smart phones will eventually be reaching given the rising costs. The average consumer is not willing to spend that type of money for something that their current iPhone likely does just as well, and upgrading is not as prevalent as it used to be for some. Now, I’m completely happy for the iPhone X and it’s success, but I think if Apple wants the iPhone X to be successful in the _long run_, they will adjust the price accordingly starting with the 2018 iPhone lineup and where they start the 6.5 X plus where the current 5.8 is. Marketing can only go so far to promote an iPhone, pricing is what the consumer cares about when they pay for it, I don’t care if it’s monthly or in full.

I wouldn’t go by my signature, I haven’t viewed this forum on a PC for about 4 years and whatever is on my signature is likely to be from around that time. I use Tapatalk and signatures don’t show up which is preferable for me to seeing actual posts and not have endless scrolling.

My current iPhone cost around £700 which was my limit, and judging by 2018 prices I will continue buying older devices going forward or keep my 6S until it dies. Most people I know are keeping phones longer these days.

My post was strictly about the misinformation that was spread about the iPhone X being a dud. I distinctly remember Cook saying that analyst should not read sales success of failure of an Apple product from supply chain changes. He has been on record warning analysts not to do this multiple times. And yet analysts continue to do this and people on this board continue to cite them.

That was the only point of my post. If you interpreted this as “I own Apple stock” or “I am ok with expensive Apple products” then that is your fault not mine. My reply was very clear and specific. You decided to find extra meaning where there was none.

If you don’t like the prices, then don’t buy the iPhone X. I bought an iPhone 8 Plus in mint condition with Apple Care for 30% less than resale. I didn’t pay the high price of the iPhone X, nor did I complain about the price on message boards. That is the price of the phone, I didn’t like it so I didn’t pay it. I am very happy with my iPhone 8 Plus. In two years time I will get the iPhone X Plus off off Swappa in mint condition for about 30% off. And just like now, I will not complain about it on message boards.

I remember whenever a new iPhone came out I would soon see them out and about. This is the first time in years I've seen virtually no people carrying the newest model around.
If the X is selling well, it appears I'm living in some anti-X bubble here in Australia.

What do you think about the analysts who are interpreting the figures and pretending to know how many X’s have been sold despite Apple only saying ‘more’?

A lot of people condemn analysts until they suggest something that fits their own opinion.

I didn’t buy an iPhone X or iPhone 8. If I want you complain on message boards then that is my prerogative, please don’t compare yourself to me and suggest superiority because you do something differently. We’ve waited years for an iPhone redesign and getting ripped off is not on, so I will air my views on this and flog it to death.

My shares went down on the completely wrong forecasts about Apple missing sales expectations and the iPhone X being a dud. I mean it went down about $10/share over a week. I own a total of seven shares, so it's not like I lost thousands. But this crap went down hard because of what turned out to be WRONG information.

That doesn't even matter with the point of the iPhone X's demise has been greatly exaggerated. About every damn thing Apple adds on an iPhone gets mimicked by competitors. (64-bit processors are stupid! *wait six months* WE HAVE 64-BIT PROCESSORS!) The iPhone X was never meant to be the phone everyone would buy, just like the Toyota Avalon. Tons of people buy Camrys and Corollas (the iPhone 8 and 7 of this metaphor) while fewer buy the upscale Avalon, which we'll pretend brings in more profit per car.

Time after time I will read articles by people worrying about how many units Apple sells compared to competitors. Most of these faux battles ignore what Apple cares about: price margin. Apple continues to make tons of money every quarter, I think almost always beating projections. But because Tim Cook is more mellow and there hasn't been (and likely won't ever be) another iPhone-like new product, the stories about Apple being doomed/not innovating get sold. Doesn't matter that an Apple Watch just helped save a girl's life. Nope, we gotta push that stupid narrative.

As the Macalope says, Apple is not without its flaws. Make your complaints about valid stuff. "Why did you abandon the AirPort? Why couldn't I get a red iPhone 8 months ago? Why is your RAM so GD expensive?" We can discuss that like adults.

Exactly its those that can't afford it or too tight to spend the big bucks doing most of the complaining, you don't need to pay retail price anyway. This week i got a 8 plus 256gb new sealed box for $447AUD below Apple price, and a 2 day old X64GB for $579 below Apple price. Only early adopters pay full price.

I offered my mate the X for what i paid he's using a 6S, he said he would love it but even at that price he said he couldn't afford it.

I like to think I’m fairly active in a Big city, and I don’t see a lot of iPhone X’s in public. The only reason I would pay attention to this, is primarily because just reading off threads like this pique my curiosity, and I would say the majority of iPhones of what I see currently would be the iPhone 7 and 6s.

My old trusty 6 has a problem with it's lighting port so I looked at buying a new phone , eventually after must research I ended up getting an 8 plus , the X just seems very over priced to me and I don't like the notch at all. Also the face thing seems very gimmicky.
