Back in line...

So, do you think if I wanted to buy two phones at AT&T and I got back in line that they'd deny me phone #2? That would be ridiculous.

So, where will be the easiest/most likely place to snag one...an Apple store or an AT&T store?

nintendo only made like 300,000 wiis at first launch... apple is making around 4 million. I dont think there will be a shortage. Ebay is for lazy ass people who dont wanna wait in line...

I don't wanna wait in line either, but I'm sure as hell not going to pay a dime over retail price for an iPhone or anything else for that matter. I can wait if I have to, but hopefully the iPhone will be easier to come by at retail than the Wii was too. :)

That's what people said about the Wii...

These were all gone within 24 hours for over $600 a piece.

Is the floor Cerdomus Hymera?

Argh...so that's the reason why Paris Hilton got released from jail early, she wants an iPhone. :D :apple: :D

too bad I'm already camped out in front of an iAT&T store :(
Whatever. Hpoefully my brother can just iWalk in and pick up an iFone™.

please tell me you're joking. you're seriously camping out ? is that really neccessary ? i mean, if you are like the only person there, why don't you go home and come back tomorrow.

2 minutes to load yahoo.com? The EDGE network is a joke.

I still can't comprehend why people will buy this thing. V2 is going to blow it out of the water. 3G capability alone is worth waiting 6 months for.

Seriously bro. I think you can sleep in your own bed tonight and be fine. I asked an Apple Store employee (Arden) if it were worth camping for and he just smirked and said "you won't be needing to do any of that."

What the hell are you talking about??

Not even. Lazy ass people can just buy it online from the Apple Store. Ebay is for stupid people who want to pay more for it when they can easily buy it anywhere from Apple or AT&T.

Touche, apple online store is for smart people who dont mind waiting, ebay is for idiots who are ignorant when it comes to the apple online store...

Cooler Heads Prevail

The 'Tipping Point' for me are 2 primary needs: GPS and 3G. A good GPS device (Garmin 660) costs about $600 and is about the same size as an iPhone. AND a number of existing cell phones already have GPS capability (not as good though). iPhone to the rescue and the cherry on the top is 3G. Since ver 1.0 iPhone CAN'T be upgraded to 3G or GPS, I can wait 9 -12 months when 3g and perhaps GPS will be in Ver 2.0 Patience has its reward.http://images.macrumors.com/vb/images/smilies/tongue.gif

HIS COMMENTS are a joke. I am not sure if mobile-focused websites are what the iPhone is accessing when they are available but I just did some basic tests with my BB 8800 on EDGE and the Yahoo site was up in seconds (mini site), Reuters loads in under 5 seconds, MacRumors site with images in about 17 seconds...and the a grapically-intense site NASCAR.com loaded in right at 38 seconds.

He must have been on his parents' farm or something.

I have GPS on my 8800 BB and like it but will not really miss it. Half the time I search the internet for an address and know where I am so point to point will work for me. Also, my gf just bought a Lexus which has navigation so we use her car the majority of the time.

On 3G, well, it has as many negatives as it does positives. Right now would you be willing to give up half your battery life for slightly faster page loading. I use EDGE on my BB 8800 and 90% of the sites I go to load fine. Nowadays, most sites have a mobile version you get routed to if you access from a phone..

Yeah, I think all this EDGE hate his hilarious. I have both an i-Mate SP5 and i-Mate KJAM which both are Windows Mobile devices that sport EDGE chipsets. Browsing the web isn't a big deal at all. It's about on par with early DSL. Fast enough to browse the web and do other things just fine, but too slow to do any real downloading.

I don't know, talk to the reviewer who, I believe was in NJ who stated that yahoo.com took two minutes.

I am in NYC on verizon's EV-DO network, and my coworker has a Pearl with EDGE. It is no contest speed-wise. It is like a broadband connection versus a dialup.

You sure those web pages weren't cached ;)

I don't understand the big draw of GPS either. It rarely takes me more than ten seconds to find somewhere I'm looking for with a paper map. I don't see people driving around aimlessly all that often...

Obviously you've never been on a 3G connection. I remember back in the day when 56K modems were INCREDIBLY FAST!

Once people got on a broadband connect it was PAINFUL to return to dialup. This is exactly how I feel going from a 3G connect to EDGE.
