Five new locations including Alabama

Apple's "Job Opportunities" web page has five new locations for upcoming retail stores. Of the five, two are confirmations of much rumored locations in Birmingham, Alabama and Cleveland, Ohio. These two locations, The Summit and Crocker Park Malls, as well as three others in Orland Park, Illinois (Orland Square;) Austin, Texas (The Domain;) and Littleton, Colorado (Park Meadows;) round out the roster of new retail stores confirmed by Apple's website. This will be the first store in Alabama as well as the second stores in Cleveland and Austin. It also adds a sixth store to the Chicago metro area and a fifth to the Denver metro area.

Apple opened 41 stores during the FY 2006, meeting its goal. Now, it is time to look at the stores opening in calendar year 2006. This list shows stores already opened in 2006 (in red,) and upcoming stores confirmed by Apple's own listings (including stores with officially announced opening dates in gold, stores in the process of staff recruitment in green, and new locations which have only been listed as upcoming retail sites in black.)

thanks for posting this information.

here's hoping more stores in Georgia!

You're welcome twodcc. I wish you luck on the Georgia stores.

In news on the retail front, ifoAppleStore has a number of interesting tips and reports. First, it looks as if the Boston Boylston Street store has cleared a major hurdle in winning the approval of the Boston Redevelopment Authority for the construction of the high-profile store in the Back Bay district.

Also of interest is the tip of an upcoming Charleston, South Carolina store in the city's King Street area. If true it would be the first in the state. Lastly, there is ifo's tip of a new Miami area store to be opened in the Bal Harbour Shops. Here's hoping all come true.

Third San Diego store to open 10/27

Apple has officially announced the opening of its new Otay Ranch store in San Diego on Friday, October 27th at 10:00 am. The usual giveaways apply.

Dont Hurt Me, did you read my post (#279 above) of ifoAppleStore's latest rumors concerning your beloved state? If the King Street, Charleston rumor is correct you should have a store in South Carolina soon.

There is further confirmation of Apple's plans for a new Manhattan store on 34th Street. The old report from the New York Post is now seconded by the following report from Reuters:
Apple to open store in SL Green building in NYC
Tue Oct 24, 2006 5:54pm ET
NEW YORK (Reuters) - Apple Computer Inc. (AAPL.O: Quote, Profile, Research) will open its third Manhattan retail store at SL Green Realty Corp.'s (SLG.N: Quote, Profile, Research) retail joint venture at West 34th Street.

"The team had to negotiate more than six separate transactions and explore the outer reaches of the New York City building code with help of several consultants," Andrew Mathias, SL Green's chief investment officer, said on Tuesday during a third-quarter conference call with analysts.

The deal for the Apple Store west of Fifth Avenue began with discussions of a 50-by-100 square-foot floor plan but the store will end up being 50 to 75 feet by 100 feet, Mathias said.

Apple's Manhattan locations are known for their innovative designs, including a glass cube entryway at Apple's underground Fifth Avenue location and a glass staircase at the computer maker's Soho store....

New Mexico store to open on 11/01

Apple has officially announced the opening of its first New Mexico store in the ABQ Uptown shopping mall. The Albuquerque store is to open on November 1st at 10:00 am. The usually giveaways apply.

Sayhey, just keep the posts coming on the new stores. Thank you for the information on the Charleston SC store. I work just 3 blocks away from King Street.

It sure would be nice to have one down here, but alas, I have to get my computer next month (work computer program). So I will either have to go to Jacksonville FL (4 hrs away) or Charlotte NC (3 hrs away).

I'm glad you read them, savanahrose. It's too bad that, if the Charleston store opens, it will too late for your purchase, but I'm glad to see at least there may be movement towards a store in your state. I'm hoping that will help convince Dont Hurt Me Apple Retail isn't full of South Carolina hating Yankees set to reenact Sherman's march. ;)

Yeah i hope so. All I know is that I was feeling left out of Apple retail market. I was getting real discouraged. Hopefully it will be open so that I can take some of those courses, since Charlotte is 3 hours away, my hubby doesn't see any sense in me driving up there to take them.

But as for me, I love running the roads and 3 hours is a piece of cake and gets me out of Charleston for awhile. :D

woohoo mac owner next month!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

a little birdie told me that the First Colony one was opening november 11...
See ya there, other Houston nerdlingers :)

Glasgow

Not sure how true this one is yet, but great if it is. Glasgow is Scotland's biggest city by a long way.

Well theres a slim ray of hope, yet the article is pretty light. A slim slim chance before some boardroom guy kills it and decides 5 stores in New york city is better. Yahoo's dont use Computers, they just drive Nascar's and drink Bud.

Cardiff Wales

Slightly off topic as it's not strictly a new Apple Store.

AT Computers in Cardiff

These guys have Apple Centre status, along with being an Apple Authorised Service Provider, an Apple Authorised Training Centre and Solution Expert education.

At present they are based on the outskirts of Cardiff but in early November will be opening a new store as they relocate to the David Morgan Arcade in Cardiff City centre.

Feel free to delete if this is too far off topic.
