I just got a refurbished 24" 2.8GHz, it's looks brand new, the only difference was it came in a brown box instead of a retail box, other than that it's just like new, and it came with iLife '09.

That's wonderful! I'm still looking at macrumors's home page and refreshing time to time hoping a miracle appear.

And i'm so obsessed with twilight omg.

So do you think they already sell new ones which are on stock in the refurbished store so customers don't complain if a new one comes out a few days after?

It's possible but remember these aren't sold as used they're sold as refurbished, they usually fix any problems before selling them to make them look like new. I've bought plenty of refurbished Macs (2 iMacs and a MacBook) and iPods (2 2nd gen nanos, 1 3rd gen nano, and an 80GB Classic) and they have all come looking brand new.

My local BBY has:
1 24" iMac (Open Box)
2 20" iMac (Base models, with 1GB ram)

I'm eagerly waiting for a new one, or else I will just snap and pickup a 24" right now. :(

One question that will probably push me over the edge. Even thought they're refurbished... do they still play the welcome video when you first turn them on?

Superb.

Think I'll definitely go down the Refurb route if I get the chance.

Anybody who doesn't get a discount (I get Higher Education, not sure if Apple does a Military one?) should always buy refurb unless you're desperate to get something that requires BTO.

They're quite literally as good as new.

When I got my new imac a week or two ago it came with ilfe 09. I got mine in chicago, Illinois though. I've heard rumors that the new imac might be released in April and will have a quad core processor, or better. Anyone think this is true.

Sounds fairly reasonable to me.
