I'm afraid I don't have the skill set or guts required to tear it apart. Sorry to disappoint :(

Since I'm a newbie on this matter I don't know how valuable a Geekbench 4 score is. Probably not at all, but here it is if someone is interested anyway. Note: This is with 8 GB of RAM since I'm still waiting for my third party RAM. Don't know if that affects the result but... yeah, it is what it is.

The fan is quiet and I haven't been able to stress test it otherwise than with Geekbench 4. No sound at all. I hear my inner voice much clearer than the fan. Any ideas on how to do this in a fairly easy manner just to shed som light on that fan noise issue? :)

Mine is still slated for Friday, but according to FedEx it's at least State-side. Two days to get from Oakland to VA.

FWIW, there was no Expidited option for me. I think that might be the norm for new product releases. Or maybe BTO?

Very impressive, especially considering 8 GB of RAM. Most of the scores I've seen with 32 GB + have been in the 33,000 range for multi-core, so you'll definitely see a boost with the upgraded RAM.

Can you also share SSD benchmark if you have?

YES :)
There is a simple test that occupies each core individually to 100% with a YES command. In your machine there are 8 plus 8 virtual cores so you could go as high as 16 YES commands. It is always very interesting to start with one and let temps stabilize, then 2 then 3 etc until fans are maxed. It may only take a few (like the 2017 i7) - or with luck maybe a whole bunch. Here is the Link to the article that explains the procedure (very easy).

You can also monitor the temps easily with Intels power gadget

THANKS!

Scheduled to be delivered Friday 3/29. I live in Southern Calif, about 60 miles north of Los Angeles. iMac was sent from Shanghai China to Oakland CA, which is about 250 miles north of my home. From Oakland it was sent to MEMPHIS, TENNESSEE???
WTH? Now it’ 2/3 of the way across the US! Geeesh!

Sometimes they do that for customs reasons or something.

Ordered on March 20, with initial delivery estimate of April 2-4. Then got notice it shipped on Monday, March 25 with estimated delivery by 10:30 local time on Wednesday, March 27. It appears to be stuck in Alaska, however, and now hoping to get it before the weekend at least.

I ran the Geekbench tests for my new iMac(i9, Vega 48, 512gb ssd, 8gb ram)

OpenCL score for the GPU: 150176
Score for the processor: Single core 6256, Multi-Core 30582

How noisy does it get when running the geek bench test?

This is the same spec that thinking about but if the fans are sounding like a hoover when working then may have to think hack instead.

Thanks

as per the title, if you’ve ordered a new iMac, when is it coming?

Also when can we expect to start seeing tear downs, cpu benchmarks and testing on the thermals?

Anyone have any info?

Ordered Sunday 24th March. It is a 3.7GHZ 6-CORE INTEL CORE I5 i9, RADEON PRO 580X 8GB of RAM 1TB SSD, extended Key board with numeric keypad. Changed to shipping yesterday (Wednesday) with on flight last night. Delivery notice from TNT (Freight Company, local) states it will be delivered next Monday the 1st of April (hope they are not fooling!!!) Apple docket says delivery estimate for 2nd-3rd April. We will see.... Lord give me patience but please hurry.

I just ran a Geekbench 4 test on my old 2011 iMac....does this mean the new iMac is 2 or 3 times faster than mine? Single core is nearly double, and muli-core is nearly triple, so how do you measure the overall performance improvement? 2x or 3x faster?

My 2011 is similar. Makes me wonder if I would plenty satisfied with the increases that come with something more mid-tier.
