and from the dGPU stand point?? 400% 500% ? :))

Well I have a 2013 i5 iMac with the Nvidia 780m (4g) graphics card plus 512g SSD
Single Core 4124, Multi is 11800. 780m supposedly is 34483 OpenCL.

Looking at the i9, Vega48 which would me
Single Core 6200, Multi is 32000., Vega 48 supposed is 150000 OpenCL approximates.

So I should see a huge boost but looking at the iMac pricing it basically has been me buying a new seven hundred dollar computer each year... just done once every five odd years

2-3 times faster does not seem all that much for 8 years.

I also have the mid 2011 imac, and if this is just 2 times faster I would be very disappointed.

Keep in mind a lot more changes than just raw processing speed. CPUs gain new hardware instructions with every new generation which help to handle specific tasks much better.

For example my 2012 iMac beats the 2015 MBP in Geekbench scores and when rendering 3D animation it is without a doubt faster but when editing video in FCPX and skimming through the media and playback the 4k timeline with layers and effects the 2015 MBP ate the 2012 iMac for lunch.

Some applications also utilize the CPU and GPU together and in those situations you can likely expect a lot more of a boost with a GPU 8 years newer and a CPU 8 years newer.

What exactly is the concern over 2-3x faster performance or are you just looking at the number itself and wanting it to be higher just for the sake of having a higher number? Most people I know don't really feel held back by the 2017 iMac and the 2019 is even faster and I doubt its speed will hold you back at all.

There is always the 18 core iMac Pro if you absolutely need more speed. Adding more cores is really the only way going forward to increase CPU speed quickly. Even then the 18 core iMac Pro is only about 50% faster than the new 8 core iMac.

My iMac for my daughter, despite the strange routing, arrived today 3/28, one day sooner than was most recently indicated and 1 week earlier than the original delivery date! Great job FedEx and Apple! :)

"Searching for Throttles on the 2019 8 Core i9 iMac"

"The 2017 iMac apparently throttled, alot. Since the design had not changed, everyone assumed this would throttle as well under some level of load. And so I recorded this but could not see any throttling of any significance at all. I pegged the cpus for 20 minutes and nothing. I ran Cinebench and nothing. Not sure what else to try, but the problem that existed on previous versions appear to be resolved."

Got Delivery notice yesterday. Still hoping to get it tomorrow. Ain‘t that far from Dublin to Germany

UPS kept my MacBook in China with no movement for 3 days. Now it’s arriving in anchorage. They’ve changed my delivery to Tuesday then Wednesday. I wish they used FedEx. I can’t stand UPS. Granted, it’s ahead of the original date but I was hoping I could pick it up myself later today if it was nearby. Oh well.

How was it for the noise under full load? Was it like iTurbine? :D

April 4-8 arrival. Ordered 3/22
I ordered mine on 23 March and arrives after one week. Trouble is the new iMac has some problems. The fan is always on even when the iMac is in sleep mode. There are other faults, too. The memory tab in About this Mac has gone and on boot-up the dong has gone, too. What is your experience
