I was in London yesterday so popped into the Regent Street store for a good look at (hopefully) my next purchase!
The iMacs look WAY better in real life than in photos. But what struck me most was the glossy screen.
It looks fabulous.
The store was brightly lit, with sunshine pouring into the front through those big windows.
The screen were reflecting. A bit. I adjusted the tilt. I looked from every angle I could manage. There was a teeny bit of glare, some reflection.
When I started using stuff (Pages, DVD Studio Pro, Adobe Indesign, general system stuff), within about 2 second I didn't notice the glare or reflections at all. In fact, after using DVD Studio Pro for a while (which is quite dark), I remembered the reflection "issue" and actually had to think about refocussing my eyes to see it.
Upstairs I wandered past the kids area. There were several kids playing on the iMacs, and the sun was coming in even more upstairs. As I walked around, there was some reflection, but the actual images being displayed far outshone even the strongest reflection point. The depth of colour and clarity (and brightness) really stood out and again within a second or two I had totally forgotten that there was any reflection.
So, in summary, people like to complain. Sure, if you have the iMac facing a window, it will be a problem, but then that's probably a bad computer area set-up anyway.
I'm sold on the 20"!!
