Apple just announced the earning call for Q2 2017 will be on May 2.
Last year Q2 2016 call was on April 26, and the spring event was on monday March 21, 6 days before Easter.
Make of this what you wish.
Iirc, In the past apple has always allowed an exchange period to get a newly released model if you bought the previous model within the past month. Iirc. This is frustrating for someone in the market for an iPad Pro 9.7". Literally was going to pick one up yesterday and today until this rumored talk with potential credible courses suggesting a release in the near future.
Is all of this pure speculation? Not sure what to do.
Is this really a policy? I recall people talking about it but never seen anything written.Iirc, In the past apple has always allowed an exchange period to get a newly released model if you bought the previous model within the past month. Iirc.
It's happening. Confirmed. Invites sent out today for Spring event.
There won't be any April news. Sept or Oct, people.
As for those that didn't buy the Pro 9.7" last year when the sales were really good, that what happens when you sit on the fence.
I like how people keep saying "there is no way there will be a spring event now"... To be honest, if they just had a spec bump on the iPad and red iPhone the other week, why would they not have just announced the mac updates at the same time? I'm pretty sure no one would have guessed that a week after the iPad/iPhone bump they would then do another one for macs separately. If they can apologize and give future plans.. and have 2 separate "bumps" why could they not still have a 3rd thing coming for iPads?
Imo it could be that when they have the iPad event, they didn't want to bring so much attention to the underwhelming updates given to the "new" iPad, Red iPhone, and Macs so they got those out of the way beforehand.

Hold out a little longer if not April they may have a June releaseThis is frustrating for someone in the market for an iPad Pro 9.7". Literally was going to pick one up yesterday and today until this rumored talk with potential credible courses suggesting a release in the near future.

The fact that a year and a half old iPad Pro is showing a delay in shipping till late April seems proof enough that something new is coming. Any supply chain constraints would not be happening after 18 months. Also, there was ample supply just a few weeks ago before shipping times started slipping.I checked apple.com for the iPad Pro 12.9 32GB version in NY and every Store (except Apple Store, Fifth Avenue)
says available on 25th of April. 20 Days? I don't know....
That's what I'm thinking too also with their recent other announcements they need something for Wednesday, announcements coming tommorow confirmedThe fact that a year and a half old iPad Pro is showing a delay in shipping till late April seems proof enough that something new is coming. That, or they don't carry the 32gb in store anymore because it's ridiculous for a "Pro" device. The 128gb is readily available in NYC... but at the same time, it isn't available online until the 18thThe fact that a year and a half old iPad Pro is showing a delay in shipping till late April seems proof enough that something new is coming. No don't pull the trigger, you'll regret it if they announce new ones at WWDC in June.Same here, I´ve read this policy in forums and such but nothing in Apple´s official pages.
I´ve been waiting since last November to buy an iPad Pro 12.9.
I´ll just pull the trigger and buy the current model if there´s no news by this week.

Guess it's just not a published policy. Means they can be flexible about offering it.Same here, I´ve read this policy in forums and such but nothing in Apple´s official pages.

The iPad is basically an iPad Air 1
Your argument while unsupportive of a full event actually supports a possible wwdc release as they could tie it in with iOS 11, likely to bring major iPad centric features. Showing off the new 10.5 inch while mentioning the current ones are also being refreshed with upgraded processors although I don't see Apple fragmenting the Pro lineup like that as the 12.9 inch needs the newer display they might as well make it bezeless tooThere is always the chance that there is no event for this. Maybe another invited media scrum to show off the new iPad, which is a bigger screen in the same current Pro 9.7 case, and, the usual press release and Apple Store 2h shutdown covers off the incremental upgrades to the existing Pros?
Couldn't do it last week because the 10.5 wasn't ready yet. And do they need an event for what is a screen size update in the same form factor? Sure it's more seemingly substantial of an upgrade than adding 1gb of ram or a updated processor, but outside of .8" screen size increase, the new IPad is the same in functionality as the others currently existing. No new screen tech or anything else like the pencil was with the current Pro when released.
1. The metal frame is literally a Air 1 even the internal board and connections for display and such are identical. What parts does the new iPad share with the old iPad?
Thought so.
