Apple does price drops to empty inventory. Like they did with Apple TV 3. I think that price drop was also some months before the release of the 4 right?
Repackage old generation parts, slightly lower price. Typical the Tim Cook apple before a new release.
I kinda expect something within the coming months.
They dropped the Apple TV price from $99 to $69 7 months prior to (March 2015) the introduction of the Apple TV 4 (October 2015), and they continued to sell the Apple TV 3 for another year, so I don't think that is an inventory reduction scheme.

I thought that what Apple did was like the "back to school" "sales" where they give out free stuff (gift cards, ipods) to move out soon to be obsolete parts.

I'm with you, though, I expect something in the next few days/weeks/months.

correct... he simply punk'd an online community. Happens all the time. Even the simplest of the simple can do it.

He didn't punk me.

Rumor threads happen at the time. Deal with fact...when it happens. Not before.

Nuff said.

Has Apple ever released something major 2 days before Easter?
I remember maybe an event close to Easter week but I'm not sure about actual product releases.
In some countries Easter is a big deal for the workforce.

If you order a 12.9" iPad Pro from the Apple Store, the delivery date range is April 17 - April 21st. Every configuration has the same delivery date range. The 9.7" iPad Pro is available now. Apple may be releasing a 12.9" Pro in the next week or so.

This is what bothers me... I am ready to buy a 12,9" Pro, and would be really sad to see that they release a new one right after I buy one. Considering it came out 2015 it feels a little weird to be buying one 2017...

Hopefully they will update it soon.

Shopping times are at 2-3 weeks here in Sweden, and 99% of all retailers don't have any in stock except for a few in gold... Must mean something.

It does it has too, I'm giving it a week for them to announce something or else I'm going to just purchase a keyboard for my Air 2 and use it until they decide to release new iPads whenever that is.
[doublepost=1491250466][/doublepost]I'm still optimistic for a April Event

Man I start to lose hope now.. Invites could be possible tomorrow for a tuesday event next week but i doubt it.

Every store around me (DC) has basically every configuration of the 12.9 in stock.

If I were wanting to buy a 9.7 pro I'd totally go for it whenever someone had a good sale. But 12.9... Ehhh I'd probably wait.

I agree something is happening with the 12.9" assembly line.

If the channel has sufficient 12.9" stock, Foxconn may be retooling that line for the new 10.5" device. It's probably the slowest line and they can resume 12.9" production after they're done delivering the initial 10.5" wave.

I wouldn't be surprised if Apple ends up keeping the 9.7" Pro at $499 even after releasing the 10.5" and 12.9" Pro 2.

That would make since if thy just left the 9.7inch Pro alone and made it $500 and then the 10.5 and 12.9 would become the definitive new Pro models. Although I still wonder if they would do that when they seem very eager to simplfiy the lineup as much as possible.

Normally, I would agree. However, the iPad Pro is a high margin device because of add-ons like the $149 Smart Keyboard and the $99 Pencil.

I have a feeling part of the reason Apple EOL'ed the 32GB mini could be to make room for additional iPad Pro SKUs.

Those that think a 12.9" update is imminent - if it were imminent, why wouldn't it have been released last week with everything else? I'd love if that were true but it seems too small for its own event.

I think the 10.5 will be more like 700 but they still might lower the 9.7 price anyway.

Eh I don't think so as I honestly think the 9.7 inch will disappear and the 10.5 inch will become the entry level $600 iPad Pro. I mean that would make since the 10.5 inch will be identical in size to the 9.7 in terms of area so what point would they have in keeping the traditional 9.7 other than a budget model at $500. I don't think Apple wants to keep the older iPad Pro models as lower costs options in order to have very clear cut iPad models for specific people.
