what does a drawing with 10,000+ lines look like? Im intrigued

You'd be surprised how easy it is to get up to 10,000 lines on an ordinary illustration. For example if a drawing includes hand drawn lettering then a few paragraphs will easily add up to a few thousand pen strokes.

Try working with a sloooowww iPad 3! That'll test your patience.
Yeah seriously @mattburley7? It's been out for almost exactly one year... how could you say it's due for an upgrade? IPP 9.7 is the best tablet on the market. Kind of rediculous that a lot of people don't have a computer and you're going through 1 $600 iPad a year.

Disgusting might be a little harsh but I agree. What on earth are you using your iPad Pro for that you feel compelled to replace it after a year? In what situation does the A9X struggle?

Yeah you're probably right lol. But I agree the A9X is fantastic and I've never found my IPP 9.7 to be limited in any way.

Im on a A8X and other then a minor hiccup engadging Split-View I have no issues, except 1 game with a bunch of objects, if I zoom it all the way out I can drop the fps to about 5-10.

I assume we will find out then in 4-5 days if there is an event, which there would be if there was a brand new form factor.

So is the consensus that the 9.7 IPP won't get any spec upgrade, and may not be kept at all? Or kept as is to have 3 screen sizes stil for sale, with the "old" 9.7 IPP getting a price drop filling the gap between the new budget IPad and the Pro line?

I think it could go either way but personallly am leaning toward them eliminating that 9.7 inch Pro, that would keep the lineup simple and distinct bewtween "iPad" and "iPad Pro". However they may keep it in the lineup simply to have a more entry level model, like they did with the Macbook Pro last fall.

I have come across some credible information which indicates that there will be an iPad launch on April 14th.

Do not ask for my source or any proof I will not divulge that information as it will cause issues for me.

You can choose to believe it or not up to you and ultimately we will find out if its true in a couple of days.
One question I have right now: Which model(s) is your company specifically trying to get rid of right now? That might help predict what kind of new iPad models we'll see.

Depends on the user. For me I had my 1st Gen. mini for almost 5 years and then sold it for a decent amount of money. I bet a new Pro model would serve me even longer.

For my iPhones, I only had them for 1-2 years because I always bought them used.
Unless I misunderstood your previous comment, you have an Air 2 that you are looking to replace (that you haven't owned for anywhere near 5 years)

I reckon they'll keep the current 9.7 and catch up the 12.9 and 10.5 with its tech. 9.7 IPP will drop to 500 and the new 10.5 will start at 650-700.

I appreciate the op's info, I may return the pro I just purchased next week if we hear of event invitations.

Apple really threw us a bone with El-Cheapo. Where's the beef?

People are now too tired even to make 4/1 jokes.

Wasting a few minutes, and getting this somewhat back on topic, but the usual Apple media event locations, not including the Cupertino Campus or of course the new campus, are all available next (10th to 14th)week for a period of time, if that is the time frame of event and release in mid April.

Of course, these locations aren't going to list Apple media event, that hasn't been announced, on their websites, but if there are slots free then there is always the chance, and if they are booked it's less likely.

From each website:
Moscone West doesn't show anything going on that week.
Yerbra Buena nothing that week either.
Bill Graham auditorium has things most days in April (and in general), but Monday April 10th and Tuesday April 11th have two days clear. I would think that Tuesday the 11th would be the event day with a 14th launch as per the OP. So setup the 10th and media event the 11th? But invites haven't gone out and it would be an 8 day turnaround if at this location if invites sent out Monday.

All idle speculation and even with all this there could be an event at an Apple location, or there could be nothing at all.

So question is when next week will the event be announced?

Not happening. With the product releases last week, as well as the new Clips app, it all would have been held for this event.

The Clips app alone is the most telling. Many journalists were invited last week to hands on areas for the new iPads as well as very thorough introductions to the Clips app. They've said if anything needed stage time, it was the app.

Why invite tach journalists to private hands on to show the new products and software only to do it again in 2 weeks?
