I live in a major city and I checked eight Apple stores within my area, they all have available stock as of today. Clearly your area will vary and not one city will speak for all.
Yes but in general a lot of cities have limited stock vs wide availability and we both no the Pro iPads aren't flying off the shelves so something is up.

In my opinion, Limited/wide availability is not necessarily an indication of anything. Others have already said, some stores are more limited than others and others have more stock than third-party retailers versus Apple stores. It's all a generalization and really doesn't lead to an end result of anywhere.

I fully understand you really want to see a new iPad debut, as doI, But "iPads not flying off the shelves" doesn't confirm anything.

Furthermore, checking online now, three third-party retailers in my area have one or less of the iPad Pro available in stock and in-store, versus all my Apple stores have widely available stock for both models of the Pro available. There's no way you can configure where this will lead based off that.

If we don't see an iPad debut during April, my guess is it will be November 2017. Being all the hardware that's potentially to be released during September, I don't see the iPad debuting along side the iPhone 8. Similarly how Tim Cook displayed the 12.9 inch iPad during the September KeyNote, but ultimately it did not release until November 2015, followed by the 9.7 iPad Pro in March 2016.

It's in stock at local apple stores... because they want to get rid of them ALL before the new one is announced. My Apple store does say in stock, but if I order it to be shipped it says April 14th - 21st arrival. Why would their online store be that far behind if every store has plenty of stock? To me it seems more like they shipped all the rest to their stores to try and offload them before they announce an updated iPad Pro 12.9". All the Best Buys and Targets around me say out of stock or Limited supply available.

I get that and I'm not expecting people to believe me outright which is why I stated in my original post it's your call if you want to believe it or not.

But just looking at other pieces of information out there what I'm saying could hold some truth. I mean look at the front page of mac rumours it's an article about IPad Pro commercials which have been running since mid February isn't it conceivable that they way to get rid of existing stock for a new release?

That's what I thought this morning when I saw the commercials. Why would they push an "old" iPad Pro that much right now? They want to get rid of the stock. Also I think to release the new iPads before summer is better for Apple because of all the students that are potential buyers during the summer and back to school sales.

Thank you OP for adding some excitement to what has been a pretty bland week here on MacRumors. Unconfirmed rumors is what this site is all about.

Yes exactly, I think most of us come here to read about rumors and not news. If I'd only wanted to know that a new iPad has been released I could read about that on any newssite.

Since the DigiTimes report was mentioned above, I took another look at it, and as far as I can tell it doesn't actually say that the purported event in early April will be held at Apple Park.

So, if it will be released on friday the 14th, the event (if there is one) could be held on tuesday the 11th. If this is true, the event should be announced between today and the 3rd of april, if the 8-13days before event timespan mentioned above is happening again.

I have come across some credible information which indicates that there will be an iPad launch on April 14th.

Do not ask for my source or any proof I will not divulge that information as it will cause issues for me.

You can choose to believe it or not up to you and ultimately we will find out if its true in a couple of days.

And you mean by IPad that it can be an iPad Pro, or cud it just be the new IPad 2017?

Hmm, depends in what country OP lives. Here in Germany I can order the new iPad right now from vodafone e.g. So no, I don't think it is about the iPad 2017, april 14th is to late for that one scince it already has been released 3 weeks ago then.

But seriously, the 10.5 iPad may be on its way on the 14th; however, I don't think it will have an OLED panel. They'll save that for the iPhone. But that doesn't mean it won't be released with an IPS true tone display on April 14th, which would coincide with the campus move.

Interesting coincidence.

I have come across some credible information which indicates that you invented this information to draw attention to yourself as having some inside info.

I believe it. Coincide with a soft opening of their new campus. 10.5 and 12.9 introduced (Pro Line). Possibly a cheap 7.9 inch (iPad line, 7.9 and 9.7).

The only question is, why did they unveil the iPad 9.7 few weeks before? Did they run out of Air 2's or do they need more time to get rid of the Pro model stock?

No reason to waste keynote time on what they released a couple weeks ago. I think they are realigning the iPad lineup. Going cheap on 7.9 and 9.7 (iPad) and high priced/more features on 10.5 and 12.9 (iPad Pro). I don't think we will have a 9.7 Pro moving forward.

With the 9.7 I meant the iPad (2017). So, if they announce a new "cheap" 7.9 iPad at the rumored april event that would make no sense. Because why would you release a "cheap" 9.7 iPad and then weeks later release a new "cheap" 7.9 iPad plus the new Pro lineup?

So for me, if there are new iPads in april it will only be the Pro models. I think there will be no 7.9 iPad anymore. Maybe even only the 12.9 Pro in april and the smaller Pro later this year.

i hope this is true my ipad pro 9.7 is due for an upgrade.

Really? How so?

Yea, the mini part is the most unlikely as your logic makes sense. I forgot they sort of updated that line by cutting out the low capacity model. Pro updates in April should be right though.

I'm curious why you'd need to upgrade from a current Pro as well. I'm on a Air 2 and honestly would have no issue keeping it and not upgrading.

Yup, the Air 2 is a really nice exprerience right now! The main reason besides the new features for me to get a new version of a product is that it has the potential to last for a long period of time.
