Going past the 14 day return? No...

And like I said, Mom has a new 10.5 with zero issues.

Happened to me today on a one day old 10.5 pro.

Picked it up, pressed home button repeatedly... nothing.

Waited about 30 seconds then suddenly it worked. Mom has a new 10.5 with NO reported issues.
Which I take as a bad sign.

It happens on both my new 12.9 and 10.5 Pros but happens so rarely. I'm wondering if it is linked to the A10x with its 2 sets of cores and how they wake up. Chances are it will affect your moms at some point.

Happen on my 10.5 and it never woke up, have Apple sending me another one but in the mean time I received my back up 12.9 Pro. In all the years of owning a Ipad I've never had a bad one.

Yep, only 3 weeks old. Called me to find out how to get restarted and I told him how to reboot. I am thinking it is a software glitch in iOS and will be fixed in an update.

Enjoy your device it is great hardware.
Yea i actually meant superior generation and not superior model.

Happened to me on my 10.5 with cover. Also had to hold down power button to switch back on and had iPad shut down randomly when playing games. Am on latest beta.

My 10.5 did it twice on Saturday - first time in over a week. No smart cover, just trying to wake with home or power button. Left it 20 seconds and tried again and it wakes without issue. This is on 10.3.2. Sent a bug report to Apple.
Might be worth others doing the same and referencing this thread just to raise awareness.

Hard reset and everything else I could think of plus Genius rep couldn't get it to work when I went into the Apple store.

I'd suggest don't bother wasting your time. To me this is clearly a software bug. It'll get sorted. There are a bunch of bugs on the new iPad Pros that are software. For example, when doing the 5-finger closing Safari, the animation glitches out if you do it slowly. When doing this sometimes the text in Safari freaks out and gets all aliased, or there's a black flash. Just weirdness.

Well I have new 10.5 on the way should reach the store either Weds or Thurs but in the mean time I'm enjoying the 12.9
You might be right about the software issue but it was 2 weeks without having my Ipad working and never to wake up.

Your issue may not be the issue being detailed in this thread, though. If it doesn't wake up AT ALL, then that's more serious.

We are just a small cross section of consumers... but with this many reports and one DOA, I am a bit concerned.

My 10.5 did it for the second time today.

This happened to me about a week ago on my iphone 6. I had it on my nightstand and went to turn it on to check for messages and it wouldnt wake up or respond. just a dead black screen. it wouldnt even reboot or respond. Scared me for a minute or two I thought my phone tried to do an update and bricked. Then I was messing with the charger thinking the battery died and that did nothing. After messing with it a few more minutes it finally woke up like normal it had 100% battery.

This happens on my 10.5 pro as well. Then when it turns on, the screen does not respond to touch. Soft reset temporarily fixes the problem.

Now that you mention a phone.. this happened with my work iPhone 6s.. I assumed it was dead and plugged it in. I didn't really think anything of it, but I did notice when it did come up, it was at 60% battery and the time between checking in and it not coming on and seeing it on was not enough to charge the thing to 60%...

I'm having the same issue, but it hasn't been too serious. When it rarely happens, it's about 15-20 seconds before it "wakes up". Hasn't happened yet since the latest iOS 10 update yesterday, so fingers crossed.

Exact same behaviour for me. Will be interesting to see if it happens with the latest update.

Same here, happened 3 times so far with my 10.5 iPad. In addition to the wake up issue I got another problem since a few days: the touch functionality of the screen stops working. The only solution is a reboot... Anybody else out there with this problem?
