I downloaded IOS 11 2 versions before the GM and hadn’t had the problem at all until today, a day after downloading iOS 11.0.1.

I had this happen with ios11 this week. I had not had it for a few weeks. I use a Smart Cover so worked to just close and reopen again.

I got an indication from Apple Support that turning Auto-Brightness off (now under General: Accessibility: Display Accommodations) might fix this.

Thank you. I do have this topic issue on my 2017 12.9’ iPP so hope doing this helps but I also have a battery issue since updating to iOS 11. Used to overnight charge every other night now it’s every night. So hope turning off Auto Brightness helps with that too.

I had this happen yesterday. 11.0.1 - 10.5” iPad Pro. This sucks. They need to fix this.

Did you try what I relayed above?

Thanks for this suggestion. Based on this, I’ve also just turned of auto-brightness to see if it makes a difference.

Update: Mine just did it again even with auto-brightness turned off. So much for that I guess. :(

Mine did it before, maybe a couple times since launch, but just second ago it did it for the third time in two days. Really disappointed.

3 days in after turning off auto brightness and I haven’t had another issue with the backlight not coming on. I’ll leave it till the end of the week before feeding back but this is encouraging as I would normally expect it to happen over the weekend with the extra use.

Well i spoke too soon. Happened last night with auto brightness turned off so I’ve turned it back on now. Will see if today’s iOS update has any impact.

Happened again on ios11.02 with auto brightness off, damn it apple fix it, I have reported the bug thrice.had to restart my iPad by pressing and holding power and home button , because both power and home button not responding

My iPad now has this video glitch since iOS 11. It happens when I open an app folder.

Mine keeps working fine. I am convinced something has changed in some release. Since months ago it didn’t last more than a few days (even after clear reinstalls) and now, just before iOS 11, weeks without any freeze and perfect wake up always.

After the Genius Bar appt followed by 3 phone sessions with Apple technical advisors (where I shared my videos of the problem) they agreed to give me a replacement. I kept auto-brightness off on the replacement and things seemed to be good until a few days ago when I again had no response to either Home or Power buttons. Took a video of that as well and will be making another Genius Bar appt.

I’ll share my videos when I get a chance.
